This place took me by surprise. The pros balance out the cons of the place. It all depends on what is the purpose of your visit. Pros: Its quaint, super clean, and has all the basic necessities of a stay. The way they have maintained the plants there is commendable and a sight to behold. The place is almost too secure. The main gate is always locked and the staff retain the key. They sanitize you literally from top to bottom by a fogging machine (any bacteria or virus cannot survive that smoke - you yourself would barely be able to breathe properly for good 10 minutes after that fogging). They make you take off your shoes and keep it in a safe shoe rack and give you standby slippers while you are in the premises (which are the only allowed footwear inside). Staff is somewhat helpful (at least polite). Water, geyser, electricity, power backup, etc. are well in place. They are a bit flexible with check-out time too. Cons: Sooooo much paperwork (After a 3 hour flight I literally spent 25 minutes writing and filling forms before I could enter my room and lay down or even have some water). Your room key stays with the hostel staff when you want to go out and about (so security of my belongings was always a question lodged in my subconscious). Only 2 meals : breakfast and dinner are served and, although paid, are time bound - miss it or oversleep and Bam! you are fasting today!! The room I was staying in only had one power outlet point - the rooms have double occupancy and both people cannot charge or power 2 devices simultaneously. Also, its only 2 adults in a room and do not allow a third person even if you are ready to pay extra, unless its a kid for which ₹200 are charged extra per night. I have saved the best for the last. wait for it... YOU CANNOT ENTER THE PREMISES BETWEEN 10:30 pm and 6:00 am. I went there for a wedding and I was not well, so I had requested them to make an exception or at least let me enter a bit early in the morning (say 5:00 am) but a NO, CANT DO! was slapped on my face. So much for "Atithi Devo Bhava" I guess. So to sum up, if its for work or for simple staying in for the night, its a fine space. But if you are looking to have a bit of jolly time and are not a fan of strict schedules. Steer clear!

The place is amazing. It is super clean. you can't take your shoes inside (they provide slippers though). The sheets, bathroom, corridors - all very clean. The staff is very polite and accommodating. They provide you with basic amenities and serve you breakfast. Since I visited during the winters, not having an AC was also comfortable. Reasonably priced.

The people running this hostel are unprofessional and they do not know how to treat with their customers. All the time the owner and their staffs asks for money. This hostel is very far from Kolkata City and staying here increases transportation cost

Stayed here last week. It was a very comfortable stay. The rooms are super clean and neat. Staff is so cooperative that they make you feel at home. Food is delicious and at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended if you are a budget traveler.

They have very healthy foods. If you r member of youth hostels then you can book easily for your own or for your family with a genuine reason to stay bt not for spending holiday here.

It's a very economical place to stay. Only dormitory facilities are available. There are no facilities for single room booking. You can book it for any type of functions and conferences. For booking you have to visit the office during the working hours. No online booking facilities are available for this place. The rooms are clean. Toilets are hygienic. Male and female dormitories are separate.

We travelled to Kolkata to attend workshop on statistical analysis which was organised by Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata in 2016. We booked Youth Hostel as I have the life membership. The rooms were tidy and clean. The staff was very humble and supportive. They helped us in every possible way. The food was Ok but they still try their best to make it right. It was little difficult to locate the hostel but we manage to find it. We had a pleasant stay. I suggest everyone who is travelling to Kolkata should carry their identity card with themselves and youth hostel is a pocket friendly and pleasant stay. Get your life membership. All the best.

It is located at a very convenient place for commuting near Sinthi More and Rabindra Bharati University onBT Road. Staff members are cordial and sincere. Premises is very neat and clean. Very well maintained and value for money. But don't expect more than the basic amenities. It observes strict discipline in open the gate which is always kept under lock and key. They will verify identity and purpose to let in. Must return back by 10 PM. So if you want hassle free comfortable stay in the outer periphery of Kolkata, certainly this is the best choice.

Breakfast and Dinner available on payment basis. 70 Rs for Breakfast. 125 Rs for Dinner. Not costly for home food experience. Food is simple but tasty. 24 hours free Wi-Fi. I downloaded Ubuntu (more than 3 GB) in 15 minutes.

This is my first visit to Kolkata and myself and my friend both booked online youth hostel .After entering into youth hostel we felt very happy because rooms are very clean.Not only rooms entire hostel is maintained clean.One drawback with this hostel is night after 10pm gates will be closed and outside food is not allowed. If you are interested to just stay and visit some places near to Kolkata you can book this hostel Cost wise it's very cheap compare to other hotels Near by Dum dum metro is available for going to famous places like victoria museum,Esplande,park street,Indian museum etc Last but not least staff behavior is very good and they will help in all aspects .

The room was spic and span. If only you can ignore the night curfew, this place promises a cosy stay. The rates are also very reasonable. I highly recommend staying here.

Well it wasn't very hard to find this place physically as there were signs which helped a lot. The Initial vibe of this place was that it had a lot of security. To maintain the tidiness of the place there was a shoe locker at the reception to keep your footwear and they also provided a pair of slippers to wear around the premises. Then comes the room, I got the room on the second floor i.e. S-4, it was well maintained and the appliances around the room were well functional. The mattress in the bed felt nice and cosy and I was able to sleep without any interruption. They even provided sheets to cover ourselves at night while sleeping. The washroom was well kept clean. The drinking water can be found in the common room and I was able to refill my bottle there. There were some rules which in effect in this place i.e. the place opens up at 6 o'clock in the morning and closes at 10 o'clock in the night. Moreover the main gate is under locked all the time but we can go out whenever we want by asking at the reception. But we have to return by the time of closing or else I guess there is some kind of penalty. The charges of the food here are separated from the accommodation charges and if we eat at this place then we have to pay separately. They provide food for two times i.e. breakfast which would cost 70 rupees and dinner would cost 150 rupees. But I found it quite expensive that's why I eat my food from outside places as I was able to track down some places which offer food at very low rates. The behaviour of the staff at this place was commendable. They were very friendly and helpful in getting the information regarding the routes to travel. The staff even cleans the room at a regular interval to maintain the cleanliness. Overall my experience was wonderful over the few days I stayed there.

It is a safe and clean place. But if you booked for one day and then ask for extension, they will keep on pestering you until you pay the money in advance. So make sure to pay in advance so that you dont have to face that annoying face asking you "when will you make the payment?" "will you make the payment now?" every 10 mins

The entire place is absolutely spotless and serves good food. The staff is polite and helpful. The place is conviniently located for sightseeing purposes- the Dumdum metro station is 8-10 rupees away (shared auto), and one can get down at different metro stops for Victoria Memorial, etc; another auto takes you to the ferry for Belur Math and Dakhineshwar Temple. I strongly recommend this place.

Its a decent place to stay, if you are visiting Kolkata for few days or week. Room are in 2 bed sharing with I think 600₹ per day per head charge. The rooms are well maintained and furnished. The only drawback is here you have in and out timings, which I disliked (night 10 or 10.30 is in-time) but yes with this price range you can bear it. Location wise, it is very east to reach, Dumdum is the nearest metro station and it is situated exactly opposite to Calcutta University.

I stayed here in 2009. Great value. I found the beds ideal and comfy. The food was great. The workers at the hostel were friendly, hard-working, and accommodating.
