Very well maintained house of the legendary artist and literary great. Spent some time there and was truly enthralled by the beauty of the place in the lap of nature as the nearby river silently made her way, bearing testimony to the glorious past when members of the Tagore family would come here to spend their holidays. Some beautiful paintings are on display as well as lots of items that this legendary family used at one point in time.

If you are fond of Bengali Culture & heritage, you have to be here as per your convenient timing. As the place is open for 7 days in week from 10am to 5pm, you can choose your own slot. One thing need to be mentioned, as GT road is very narrow, car parking would be a headache for self driven visitors. But the place is highly rich as being a heritage property. As the place is called Mini Shantiniketan, you won’t be disappointed. Must visit place & better to be in within 11 o’clock or after 4pm. Avoid rainy days.

The old garden house of Tagore family. It used to be a piece of secluded land hidden from the hustle bustle of the city. The municipality did a praiseworthy job by saving the heritage property. However the old charm is lost after the renovation & it has become an overcrowded commercial place in these days.

Good place, declared as 'Heritage Property'. Good view of the Ganga but there are posters of poisonous snakes! So be aware, don't go deep into bushes. Take care, happy outing 🤗

It is an amazing place, well maintained and very peaceful. A perfect location for one day trip. Greenery of this place attract me the most. The beautiful paintings told us the story of Abanindranath Tagore and his devotion for arts. This place has beautiful seating areas so you can seat and have some lovely chats and feel the breeze of the holy river Ganga.

A place where you will find peace of mind and enjoy listening to the chirping of birds. Hooghly river flows by this place Many big trees and their dry leaves are one of the reasons for its beauty.🍂 You can spend time seeing the beauty of the environment and take many pictures. 🌿 Ticket price is only 10 rs. Great place to go. Once 10 rupees entree fee and you can see, feel and enjoy the places where Abanindranath Thakur stayed during his childhood days. The rooms and all will give you goosebumps to think how the surrounding area was back then and how they used to live there. It was a great experience for us and would recommend everyone to pay a visit at least once.

Very nice place to spent some good time with family. This place is now restored & maintained by local municipality. Even restored, the main building needs to have some repairs again. Overall the place is nice. There is entry fee of 10 rupees. This place doesn't have parking facility for the four wheelers. So one need to park his vehicle at the GT road.

Historical place to visit with your family and friends .The garden house at Konnagar or Konnagar Baganbari is located at Konnagar in Serampore sub-division of Hooghly district. It is associated with the Jorasanko Tagore family. It was constructed in the 1870s by Gunendranath Tagore - a cousin of Rabindranath Tagore. He was the son of Girindranath Tagore, the second son of Prince Dwarkanath Tagore. Visiting Hours - 10 am to 2 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm. How to reach - You can reach by taking jetty from Panihati ferry ghat to konnagar ghat and from there it is 5 mins on foot. You can reach by GT road and the entrance is just beside the road. Ambience is Overwhelming . Great for relaxing and if you are a nature lover it will be a blissful experience. The view of ganga from the ghat is thoroughly enjoying . Washroom is available .So no need to worry about that . Bike and cycle parking is avaiable at a fee of 10 rs and 5 rs . There are many artworks inside the main building. There is a small waterfall like installation which will grab your attention. There is a big fishtank with colourful fishes you can enjoy seeing. The area is moderately big so you can have a walk around the premises but advised not to step on the grass as it is prohibited. One problem of this place is it remains closed sometimes without any notice. Overall It is a place where you can relax with your family and friends in a Historical ambience which has a great aesthetic value.

Entry time: 3-5pm. Allowed in time: 1 hour. Small park only for small children. Toilet available. Overall a nice place to visit. It's not a museum. It's just a renovated house.

It's such a beautiful place to visit. but they don't maintain the schedule always and also they don't have such proper notice mentioning that they don't allow you in half pants. The caretaker/management is rude and careless somehow.

An historical place to visit. All are maintained carefully. What an excitement feeling that here the World famous Artist Abanindranath Tagore had drawn his first picture Kureghar (Hut) . As the garden is beside the Ganga, one can enjoy the beauty of a lonelyness. Security is very good. Only one should know that time is from 9am to 5pm. One suggestion to the administration that minimum one original picture of Aban Thakur is to be kept in Musium if possible.

one can go visit this beautiful place as there is no such hurdle to reach out. This place is fully covered by big trees including Mango, Jackfruits, Banian trees and many more. There is a dry swimming pool covered by the iron fence. There is a big aquarium with big colorful fishes, also a small artificial pond to cultivate Water Lily, Lotus etc. By the lane you walk it is beautifully decorated. The garden house and workshop area is properly colored and well maintained. Riverside ghat is amazingly constructed. There are caretaker and gardener who maintain the entire garden and produce beautiful seasonal flowers. They also have measure of drinking water. Few important facts The timing of this place is 10 am to 5 pm Till now there is no entry fees, no camera charges This place is amazingly maintained including toilets You can find food shop nearby in lunch ghat or Konnagar railway station area Local transport including bus service is available Proper parking slot available.

A good place for spending may be 2 or more hours with family or friends, kids friendly ecosystem, fresh air available. But let me clear one or more thing (s) that NO CAMERA IS ALLOWED inside the campus, local guides are saying camera is allowed, but they ar partially wrong because at the entrance the authority is asking for not entering with the camera but inside there are no authority agents,so you can use the camera by breaking the rules. No food is allowed inside the campus. Mobile photography is allowed.

This is a beautiful, clean, well looked after place and the entry fee is only 10 rupees. A perfect spot for an afternoon visit with the family. It is not very crowded either. Many school kids will also love this place. The mighty river Ganges also flows next to this historical place and adds to the beauty.

“That time in Konnagar [at the garden house] I learnt to draw a hut.” An excerpt from his memoir 'Jorasankor Dhare' (By the Side of Jorasanko). He is Abanindranath Tagore, a stalwart of Indian art. In 1834, this garden house was built. This one-storey building surrounded by lush greenery was once the Mecca of art, literature and culture of Bengal. For a long time, this house remained dilapidated. Finally, It gained heritage status in 2007. There are a small park and an aquarium in the garden. The house is decorated by several art works. Spending a winter afternoon in the house will be the ideal one-day holiday trip for the visitors. No restriction on photography. There is entry fee.

Beautiful heritage property by the side of Hooghly river. Your are allowed to stay for an hour only inside the garden. Many old trees are there, the authority constantly warns the visitors be be careful about the poisonous snakes which are there inside the garden. No food items are allowed inside the garden. A small children's park is also there, I found a lot of small kids enjoying the slide and merry go round .

Really beautiful place to have an evening stroll. The garden is well maintained and maintained well. The picture gallery is not maintained well. The house itself is actually maintained well. Thanks to the west bengal government initiative the place is really being taken care of well.
