A must watch temple. It's built 800 years ago and is in best condition under ASI. It's easily visible while driving and so take a break and carefully observe amazing architectural marvel. No crowd when i visited. You can enjoy peace and aura in this temple and spend as much time as you wish.

Ancient 12 century Mahadev Kedareshwar temple is having mind-blowing architecture. Almost 70 kms from Shivmoga situated in Billagavi on the road side. Very peaceful calm and spiritual atmosphere in the temple. Very few people remain in temple. Suggested to visit and feel blessed at this temple. This temple is also known as Kedarnath of South.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, depicted in the form of a Shivlinga of Krishnashila, a black stone. Built with Chalukyan style of architecture, this temple was built in 1319 AD. The basement of the temple features sculptured friezes which depict The Ramayana, The Mahabharata and The Bhagavad Gita. Kadareswara Temple was built by Veer Ballala II, a Hoysala King and Ketaladevi, his Queen around 1220 A. D. The stunning structure has traditional Hoysala style architecture. You can find four Star shaped pillars on either side of entrance towards Navaranga, which are again masterpiece of Hoysala art and provokes you to think the kind of technology used to carve such pillars (such pillars are also found in Hosaholalu Lakshmi Narayana Temple as well). As you see further you see the Navaranga with four bell shaped pillars, on the top you can make out that the ceiling of the Navaranga Mantapa is well decorated. Also you can find deities on the either side of the main Garbhagriha. The main Garbhagriha contains the main deity in the form Shiva Linga.

    - Built by Hoysala kingdom. Here two temples are there and museum is right beside the temple. - Good old inscriptions are kept with boards around museum. - Timings 6:00AM to 6:00PM - Can have look for 10 mins of you are going in this route. - Also visit other ancient temples inside Balligavi village like Tripurantakeshwara,Someshwara,Berundeshwara.

Temple is an excellent example of a Trikuta - "triple towers" a Chalukya-Hoysala architecture. The entrance to the shrine has a big Nandi, Temple is maintained by Archiological Survey of India.

Built in 12th century CE by the Chalukyas in the Hoysala style, this triple celled temple is a remarkable gem in Northern Karnataka. An open air museum next door provides great space to display the innumerable hero stones and Saptamatrika stones found during the restoration days. The closed door museum was surprisingly closed during the early noon of a weekend with no signages to point about opening and closing hours. The lawns and premises are well maintained and ASI funds are possibly coming through due to higher footfall and ease of reaching this location. Parking is right along the state highway and at your own risk. Worth enjoying the polished pillars, mahamandap and sabhamandap with the magical sculpture of Nandi.

This is a beautiful 11/12th century temple also known as "Dakshina Kedara". Thanks to the authorities for maintaining the artifacts so well. The temple has a small museum within the same campus showing different artifacts recovered. It is beautifully stone carved temple in hoysala style. It is amazing to see how perfectly smooth are the pillars sharply carved out edges. Perfect symmetries in every corner. The main temple entrance has a huge Nandi and 2 side exits when you further enter the temple. It's quite and beautiful, not overcrowded with tourists.

A must visit place in this area to travel back in time, understand & appreciate our rich architectural heritage, witness some really intricate carvings, get amazed by those insanely similar pillars and their beauty. One cannot stop but wonder how could they even conceptualize and execute these works in an era without machinaries. This Kedaareshwara temple complex also hosts the maximum number of Veeragallu (inscriptions usually done after a successful battle) in the state of Karnataka

Neatly maintained ancient temple right beside the main road. Lots of sculpture on display in the vicinity of the main temple. There are so many stone inscriptions there. I wish ASI would translate those into modern Kannada and display those beside the original inscriptions. How wonderful might it be to be able to read all those messages of the Rulers of the olden days! We will surely develop better understanding of our own local history with such efforts. My only other issue was the amount of noise from the vehicles passing by. The road curves a little bit around the front of the temple. This probably provokes bus and lorry drivers to honk indiscriminately and disturb the serenity of the place. I did see separate toilet facilities for men and women within the temple compound, but can't comment on cleanliness as I didnt use the facility. Nice lawn is there behind and beside the temple, and families can use it as a picnic spot. With all that freedom, we must also help the ASI by not littering the area with waste. Definitely worth a visit.
