The services provided here are excellent but the hospital has many drawbacks. The ophthalmology department & dental department are located on the second floor of the hospital.What a fool it is that the visually impaired and the elderly find it very difficult to get to this second floor. There is very little seating for incoming patients.There is not even a facility here to carry out basic necessities.

Pros * Doctor consultancy, Treatment, Medicine is always free but some medicines we have to buy from private medical shops out side hospital which are not available in hospital farmacy * Each department have separate wards, But there is no modern facilities in wards. But we can manage * Good and experienced famous doctors are available * Xray Charges - Rs 100 only ( march 2022 ).And there is some relaxation in Xray charges for BPL ration cards patients * OP ticket charge Rs 5 only ( March 2022 ) * For surgery we have to buy the things needed for surgery and give to them Cons/Should improve things * Hospital, Wards and hospital compounds must be hygienic and clean. * Government should provide New ambulance From my childhood i taking treatment from here

I had a very terrible experience from this hospital 3 days ago(10/3/21). My mother in law was brought to general hospital Kottayam early morning around 4 15 am. But unfortunately she was reported to be dead when she reached the hospital. After the covid test they gave a positive test result which was unbelievable for us. But we sorrowfully cremated her body in the municipal crematorium. Our brother who recently recovered from a very bad health condition could not even see her for the last time. None of our relatives could pay her last rites. Because we obeyed the government norms. After all these things the govt gave a covid negative certificate stating that the diseased was not covid positive based on RTPCR test. We are not yet out of the shock. I humbly request the public to avoid the covid cell of general hospital Kottayam. They are there only to waste the governments money and reputation. It seems our sorrow was just a fun for dr. Ajay mohan MD, covid cell nodal officer, dist medical officer kottayam.

The trainee of opthalmologic don't know how to respect elderly. Most of the patients in that department is elder people, but a trainee didn't respect when they unknowingly came in. Very much disappointed about the supervision.

Horrible experience from dermatology department jul/15/22 I came their for skin tag spot removal in my hand, waited almost 1 hr. While consulting she said. We don't have that facility available here. It's available in medical College. Actually it's a simple process and I was wondering. Why she prescribed medicine for one month.

Overall it was not a good experience. I'm not generalizing but still, the attitude of staff towards the patients is very poor. They treat them like, u r getting everything free here so u need to adjust. Doctors can show some commitment toward patients. Now also we need to give tips for even small procedures done by nonmedical staff .

If you need to get treatment from a specialist doctor, you need to wait. Waiting is not only a phenomenon you are finding here only but also in every pvt. Hospital. You can find most of the General medicines free here and tests are with nominal free.

Best treatment and medical facilities offered here with the services by experienced medical staff. Managed by Govt of Kerala. Located in the heart of town. Easily visible from the main road. Parking is available inside the compound and outside street.. Well connected to the city by different road transport mode.

Worst experience for the last two times. Doctors are trying to avoid patients and simplifying patient's problems and no consideration or basic etiquettes is shown towards patients. This is not from a single experience.

Recently I went there for corona testing after my quarantine. I was pregnant 34 weeks at that time, and was informed to come there at 3.30 pm and my test was done around at 6.30 pm. Then till (7 th day)now my test results are pending. I have to go to hospital for check up and other hospital required corona negative certificate, that's y I need it in a hurry, but despite repeated attempts in remaining them none is willing to help.
