We sat upstairs on a verandah wrapping a small garden courtyard enjoying the cool air. What a beautiful atmosphere to lunch in.

The food was great, the ambiance - especially at night, with the lights low and the jazz playing - was wonderful, and the staff were absolutely lovely. They’ll even gladly walk you through a room with amazing old photos of life in Kandy. Don’t miss this gem while in town!

Very convenient place. One of the best places to have a drink in Kandy. Very clean. I tried the open area in the middle where there was beautiful wooden furniture, some are made out of casks. The food is great. Try the potato wedges and deviled gram. The waiting staff is so nice. Quick service. Highly recommend.

I don't really understand the bad reviews. We stopped in a few nights in a row and had incredible service from friendly bar tenders. The price can be discussed but hearing new Orleans jazz with a cold draft beer for 450 rupee with ambiance, was very enjoyable. A mix of locals and tourists. We didn't order food but for a drink I recommend this place.

We stopped in for dinner after a long day of travelling. Beautiful building, reminded us of a baby Raffles Hotel. And the food and service were great. We asked them to put some music on, and once they did the ambience was excellent! Worth a stop while you’re in Kandy for a glass of wine, and try the spiced chickpeas!

This is a magical place. It could even be the best place in the world... If only Kandy wasn't such a polluted place. I've been here dozens of times in March and April of 2023. Each time I had just one espresso on the 1st floor (or 2nd if you count from the ground level). Espresso was fine. Other foods and drinks - I don't know. The coolness of this place is in its noble historical ambiance. Three ladies who were in charge of the 1st (or 2nd) floor in the morning were impeccable. They are the true muses of the place and without them everything is meaningless. So the place is really awesome but... The pollution! On a windless weekday it gets noticeable very early. And most days are windless in Kandy. I'm addicted to fresh air and I can't enjoy my coffee when suffocating. If it's your case you should be careful about the timing of your visit. The best choice will be early Sunday morning. (They opened at 7 but it can be outdated). Saturday morning is usually ok too. You should also go if 1) it's windy or 2) there is a heavy rain going on or just finished. In such cases you can expect a blissful time here.

I visited three nights in a row for a few beers on their balcony. Nice cold beer (unusual, in my experience, in Sri Lanka) and very friendly service :-)

We only visited the very stylish bar, seated in an amazing courtyard and felt set back in time. An oasis after a morning of exploring Kandys temples, botanical gardens etc. You escape the hustle of the city and enjoy an ice cold draft beer. In 4 days we came three times. That says it all. MUST COME. Not a tourist place and we loved it.

The restaurant: Nice building, nice place to seat, BUT the food was cold and the white wine warm. We had to wait quite a while until the wine was finally cooled. And the food went twice in the microwave... What a pity!

Great place to have a lunch. Had Fish and Chips with good portion and Lions big bottle for 950 LKR / bottle. Bit pricey for the food but it was ok. Friendly service and got wifi also.

Easily the top bars in terms of its old world charm in the heart of the city. Cannot miss this place if you’re in Kandy. Absolutely loved the interiors and the vibe of the place. Very colonial with very cool art work all along the place. The cocktails are great too!

Upstair cafe is really nice to have a snack, coffee or tea. I have heard this place gets really busy usually but both times I went it was quite and we really enjoyed the place. Really good for a pot of tea or coffee and a snack.

The beautiful old building is from about end of 1940’s and has a very nice and calmly atmosphere with a amazing inner courtyard, where you feel totally isolated from the city noise and listening nice music and can enjoy a great Sri Lankan food I really enjoyed this place

This is my second vist. Beautiful, calm, colonial place with good customer service along with delicious f&b. They have a wonderful well maintained armoury as well.. We had a beer with sizzling pork and fish & chips. That was awesome. Arjuna's service was excellent . Thanks the owner for maintaining a such nice place.

Ordered uber eats meal which had a very bad taste They've over used oil,kept cooking from the same oil. Disappointed!

Upstairs is well-kept interior preservation that is filled with architectural details, pictures, and ephemera of history. Rich hardwoods throughout where there are two outdoor balconies. One overlooks the street and the other, the interior courtyard. Drink prices are higher in the elegant upstairs. The main floor courtyard gets only 2 stars. It has giant TV projection and it gets heavier tobacco smoke.

Beautiful place to sit and have a beer, large lion beer bottle is 1100. Amazing service, lovely place to sit and feel safe while you have a drink. Really clean toilets. Overall highly recommended. Bit weird everyone upstairs is white tourists and everyone down stairs is Sri Lanka not sure why it’s separated. Maybe downstairs is cheaper prices.

Beautiful place right in the middle of kandy town. I have visited the bar many times and I loved the vibe there. Even though it’s not very spacious, they have arranged it very nicely. Food is amazing and the staff very friendly and attentive. One of my favourite bars in kandy area.

Atmosphere was lovely and service was good; nice to find a place in Kandy that serves alcohol but unfortunately the cocktails were exceptionally weak. For the price they charge I was quite disappointed, we tried 3 different ones and they were all the same so definitely not a one-off. Didn't have any food so can't speak for that, would come back for the vibe just keep your expectations low on the drinks.

Too expensive. 6,000 for 2 people for 3 dishes. We forgot to tell magical phrase "not spicy" and were punished by demolish spicy seafood rice, that burned our tongues till ash.

Most of local and foriegn liquor types which are famous in SL can be obtained from the bar. Food is good and the colonial vibe of the PUB is a nice experience. Service is ok and the prices are bit high. But acceptable considering the total experience.

Had a Very Delicious Dinner at Royal Bar & Hotel. The specialty of this hotel is that they do not use artificial flavorings for their food. All food is flavored with Organic Sri Lankan spices.

Very nice bar in Kandy. Thé drink is a little bit expansive but the employes are very kind and professional. And thé bar is very beautiful.

Great atmosphere topped up with great food and really nice people working there! Highly recommend if you want a chill place. Have a seat on the second floor by the inner yard, not the street!
