A nice place to have a meal heart of the Kandy City. We ordered Cheese Chicken Kottu and Sea Food fried rice and it was good enough towant we expected. If you are looking for a fresh baked foods as your snack this is the one of the best place in the City. Good Clean Place and The staff were friendly and efficient. The price is also Not that much higher.

Food served rather swiftly, but the prawns were over cooked and the chicken was still partially raw (this takes off 1 entire star for me, as it is a health concern). The fries and potato wedges were crispy and delicious, the salad was fresh, and the tea was sweet and nicely prepared. Different sauces available. Sinks with soap available inside and at the entrance. Indoor or outdoor seating. Available for dine in, takeout or delivery. Cash or card accepted. Good food bit really really slow service. Place was vintage but could do with better mantainace. The fish and chips were very good. The curry was also good. As was the fried rice. By Kandy standards food was very good.

We tried Kottu, Thai fried rice and nan rottie with Kuruma. The food was awsome, unique taste& reasonable price. The staff were friendly& neat service. Located in the middle of the city but after you enter inside, you will feel a peaceful environment. simple arrangements and clean place. There are some balcony tables where you can see a decent view of kandy especially The mosque infront of the shop. Our total bill with two 7Ups was 1600/= No service charges. Highly recommended for locals and foreigners.

One of the best restaurants in Kandy to take Lunch, Dinner and have a snack. The old famous Salgado Bakers rebranded as CAFE 1886. At the heart of the city, and its close to the temple of the tooth relic. Has a variety of foods to select from local rice to burghers and sandwiches. The sea foods were really delicious. And also the BBQ chicken. You also can have a surprise party or any kind of celebration in their private dining room that can fill around 10-15 people. The beverages were also good. There wasn't a delay on receiving the foods and the service is excellent. Price is fair for the service and quality of food. Highly recommend to try, if you're visiting Kandy.

An old reputed bakery in the center of Kandy. The interior is cozy and pleasant. Even the music is so relaxing. The staff is so friendly and always attentive to your needs which is highly remarkable. The menu has lot of options so you can choose various types of dishes according to your matched taste. The quality of food is exceptionally higher compared to other places in the area and the prices are reasonable too. Their coffee is highly recommended along with their coffee snacks. They offered us a good service. Highly recommended!

We found the food to be very delicious. It was our first time actually eating SriLankan food, so the staff was very helpful! Would definitely eat there again!

The bar on the ground floor is so local, you should come here and experience the local teas and coffee. On the first floor there is a restaurant that is very yummy. I do recommend coming here

T E R R I B L E. Worst food we have had in Sri lanka for this price. Do not understand where the good reviews came from. Dined on second floor, they have cute small balcony with tree tables. Chicken and fish tasted like they have been frozen for 100 years. Little portion of cabbage and carrot salad was ok, but served with plain rice, no taste at all. Toilets dirty, menus old with pages stuck together. Waiting time very long even there were not that many people. Only one star for waiter that tried his best, other waiter was strange, did no greet us or said anything, did not even look at us. Worst experience is Sri Lanka in one week of only dining out all over the country. If this is the only place open, maybe can try drinks...dunno

This was an amazing experience at the cafe 1886. I visit there without looking any reviews. This restaurant staffs are very friendly. I have ordered special rice and chicken khothu from them. It was delicious. It is not my first time visit. This is a must try cafe in kandy. The cafe's long-standing success since 1886 is impressive and speaks volumes about the quality of their food, ambiance, and service. It seems like they have managed to maintain their reputation over the years and continue to be a beloved spot for both locals and visitors in Kandy. This area is very buzy because of famous kandy mosque which is just in front of this cafe so tourists can easily eat here and see the mosque and its a good area to wonder around.

This is among the finest restaurants in Kandy, and personally, it's one of my favorites. The food is incredibly delicious, especially the kottu, which is the best I've ever had. The prices are quite reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area.

Tasty authentic Sri Lankan food. Really enjoyed the black curry chicken. And the ginger beer had a definite snap to it! Staff was greatly accommodating allowing me and a new friend hang around a couple of hours talking.

Located in the centre of Kandy is this unassuming cafe above the bakery which was established in 1886. The service and the food make up for the lack of ambience. Although sitting by the terrace and watching the busy streets did bring some interesting sights. The food was spot on and the price very reasonable. If you want a tasty meal for good value this is the place to be. Do not be put off by first appearance. It's a nice change to your usual run of the mill meal in Sri Lanka.

The private diner is equipped with a projector! Nice place for a group of people to watch a cricket match or a football match while enjoying some mouth watering dishes! We sat outside on the balcony to have a chicken korma and naan bread and a chicken biryani. The food was nice and it was nice to see the busy street below. The service was good and it was a nice location for dinner :)

Food is commendable, though you will have to expect long waits during peak time. Atmosphere is not relaxing during warm day times, but is cool and comfortable in the latter part of the day. No dedicated parking. Prices are comparatively high, but the food is served fresh and warm. Downstairs, there is a normal restaurant which is busy most of the time.

A nice place to have a meal! We ordered deviled cuttlefish with pol roti, dhal and pol Sambol and it was good enough to be shared by two with extra roast paan! The cuttlefish was perfectly cooked and all the flavours were on point! I had their milk coffee too, it was made out of fresh milk and was one good coffee! The staff were friendly and efficient.

Good food & fresh juices at reasonable prices. But esp. if you go with foreigners, they try to usher you to upstairs where another expensive menu is available. If you want to have simple food (rice & curry, buns) at reasonable prices better to choose ground floor restaurant.

This is a long standing hotel in Kandy. They are reputed bakers and hoteliers in the city.

Awesome... Hats off to team... Creamy chicken soup makes us filled. With great difficult we ate since we want to eat... So delicious... All food items were good and need more tables😉

Sandwiches, wraps and burgers are already made and displayed in refrigerator which made my chicken burger extremely tough and dry, I could barely eat any chicken. The general taste was super spicy which the staff should inform me when I ordered; so food is a total disappointment. Beside that coffee was good

Been there for having tea with baked snacks. Breads, cake, cookies and authentic bakery items with tea, milk tea, coffee or cool drinks can be enjoyed. One of the oldest buildings in kandy but slightly modified now. Friendly customer service. Mostly the waiters are above the middle age and worth helping them by being a customer. Food is not expensive but value for the money. Recommend for having snacks, morning or evening tea with baked food items.

One of Best Place to have Koththu in Kandy.😍😍🌹❤️ I got Seafood Koththu and Cheese Seafood Koththu. They add only Rs 200.00 for all cheeses items. Specially note. They added happycow cheese.😍 The staff was awesome and friendly.😊🌹 Bit of Noisy atmosphere and that's silent in night. Also i went there at night 🙂 Can eat near to the balcony and that's awesome 😍 15 to 20 people can dine in one time. The chef who made foods very friendly and Clean. If you think a bakery started in 1886, it would have lost its old charm, and the quality of food might have slipped. Please do step into Salgado Bakers. Very reasonably priced and absolute A+ service and food.

Welcoming service, generous portions, delicious food. I had the cuttlefish curry and was asked for spice level. I enjoyed it a lot. Spicy and tasty. It came with paratha, dhaal and coconut sambal. Everything was yummy. I asked for rice to sop up curry sauce and they didn’t charge me. The vegetable cream soup was bland though. Highly recommend this place!
