🏞️Arthur's Seat Viewpoint offers a mesmerizing panoramic view of Kandy, including the Dalada Maligawa, Kandy Lake, and the surrounding landscape. While it's not exceptionally high, it's an ideal spot for capturing stunning photographs with Kandy as the backdrop. πŸ“Έ The viewpoint is particularly popular for photography, as it offers a picturesque view of Kandy town. πŸ…ΏοΈ You'll find roadside parking for vehicles, or you can choose to park a bit farther and enjoy a pleasant walk to the location. 🏑 According to local folklore, the viewpoint gets its name from a bungalow owned by Mr. Arthur, a British tea planter. He used to sit on a stone seat under a tree in front of his bungalow to enjoy the view of Kandy. Based on this story, the place is known as Arthur's Seat Viewpoint. πŸͺ‘ There's a bench to sit and soak in the scenery. The viewpoint is secured by a fence, ensuring the safety of visitors, especially children. 🏞️ There aren't any shops nearby for snacks or refreshments, so it's a good idea to come prepared. πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ For those looking to explore more, you can take a tuk-tuk to reach the hilltop and then enjoy a leisurely walk back. There's a shortcut, a footpath along Victoria Park, that leads to the viewpoint. πŸ’° The best part? You can visit this spectacular viewpoint free of charge. It's a wonderful place to take in the beauty of Kandy. πŸ‘ If you found this review helpful, please mark it as such to encourage more elaborate reviews that assist others in discovering and appreciating more wonderful places ! βœ…

Regarded as the highest point in Kandy, it is an absolutely breathtaking spot which gives a high angle view of the magnificent city. It’s so relaxing that you would want to sit and watch the fascinating view below all day. It isn’t far from the lake, just around walking distance. They have built a proper place to view the gorgeous scenery. It’s a place you should go with a camera so that you can capture gorgeous photos and videos.

A complete scenic view point surrounded by lake & mountains. You get to see the famous temple of the tooth relic. Also from the height you get to see the beautiful Kandy Lake flowing. A great picturesque can be captured by the camera standing at the point. You can breathe in fresh air, get relaxed and spend quality time as the entire view point is absolutely free. Recommended and a must go place to enjoy beauty of nature.......

Kandy viewpoint (Arthur's seat) is one of the famous tourist place in Kandy. This scenic location is located just 1km southwest of the Sri Dalada Maligawa (The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) . The viewpoint is situated at an elevation of 550M (1804ft) above sea level. It offers panoramic view of kandy lake, The Sri Dalada Maligawa (The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic), and the city center. According to local folklore, there was a bungalow owned by Mr. Arthur, a British tea planter, situated above the viewpoint, who used to view kandy on a stone seat under a tree in front of his bungalow. Based on this story, this place is called Arthur's seat viewpoint.

If you're about to see Kandy town as a whole picture one of the greatest places to visit is this Arthur's seat, most of the time this place is crowded but the view is really amazing.

To watch the beauty of Kandy and to enjoy it, this is the best place. Felt little tired when climbing up the hill to the spot but all vanished with the natural beauty of the surrounding and the wind blowing.A nice scenary of Dalada Maligawa can be seen from here.

Great views of the Kandy city. A must visit place in Kandy. You can take a tuk-tuk go up the hill and take a walk on your way back - there's a short cut (foot pathway) along the victoria park nearby. Recommended to spend some time and if possible to carry a binocular - who knows what you may spot ;)

This is the place that you can see the glamorous view of the Kandy town. Recommend to visit this place at night to see the most beautiful view with the city lights. The road to reach this place is in good condition and can park vehicles near to the view point. The place is safe as there is a stage with a fence and a small shelter is also there. It has a very calm environment. Good to relax and spend time peacefully with a beautiful view in front.

Scenic view point where you can see the kandy lake and surroundings. You can also see the temple of tooth relic. This place is really good to take photographs with in Kandy town as the background. Parking is available on roadside fulfill vehicles, but you can park your vehicle a bit far and walk to the location. Viewpoint is protected by a fence which will ensure kids do not fall to the abyss.

  • 5/5 Faheem N. 4 months ago on Google β€’ 150 reviews
Lovely viewing point. Be prepared to deal with a tonne of local tuk tuk drivers who are literally loitering about trying to offer rides, tours, asking to go to local shops etc. They are harmless, but slightly annoying when all you want to do is chill and enjoy the view!

Good view of the Kandy lake and the city. Recommend: If passing that area or relaxing day at Kandy, you may visit. Else it is an optional point. A few souvenir shops nearby.

Beautiful view point in Kandy. It has beautiful views of the city including the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth). It is easily accessible by any vehicle as it's situated on the side of a main road. It gets a bit crowded due to it's popularity.

Arthur’s Seat is a popular lookout point southwest of Kandy Lake, just past the Royal Palace Park. It is located on Rajapihilla Mawatha at 550 m above sea level. It provides a panoramic view across Kandy Lake, Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Royal Palace of Kandy and the city centre

  • 4/5 Desiree C. 4 years ago on Google
Visited in the afternoon. A platform has been built to see the nice view of Kandy below. It is located alongside the road, can't be missed. There are vans with souvenirs opposite the platform.

Lovely view of my lovely city and the surrounding mountain ranges. I usually pass the point twice a day and stop on the way just to look at the Kandy lake simmering in the sun. Spectacular! Can get a bit crowded at times though...

  • 5/5 Mahesh 3 years ago on Google
Very close to the Kandy city. Very beautiful view of the Sri Dalada Maligawa and the city. If visit in a sunny day in the morning or evening, will be more amazed. Only little problem is Parking, but for a tourist, it doesn't matter. There is a nicely built platform for use, and little seating... cannot access wheel chair, need to lift.

Nice place to have a good of Kandy. You can see the whole city from this view point. Better to come around 5.30 in the evening and stay until the sky goes dark and the lights come up. It's a beautiful scenary to watch. Also, you can find some food spots near this place. So you can enjoy this while having something.

The view here is amazing specially at night. You can see the temple of tooth and the lake all in one in the prettiest of views. The D.S. Senanayaka street with all the vehicle lights look amazing in the twilight. But beware, travellers as well as some town low lives hang out there. Since there's a considerable crowd on holidays, it wouldn't matter much. If you are in Kandy as a Traveller this is a must visit place for you.
