The best hospitality we encountered in the whole of Sri Lanka. Paul is attentive and a hard worker. He is also an incredible cook so we highly recommend eating there. The views from the terrace are amazing and it is also quite central. We would come stay again if we ever visit Kandy again. Highly recommended.

This is a great place, for what we paid- which was very cheap.. As the name suggests it is hidden in the Kandayan hills. It is in a very peaceful and quiet area. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Bed was very comfortable, shower had both hot and cold water. Short 12 rupees bus ride into kandy centre.

With a short notice, they have arranged our rooms in the most comfortable manner. And their hospitality right from the beginning was impressive. If you are searching for a cozy comfy home with an amazing view for your budget, trust me this is your place!!

Peaceful hotel with views over the hills. We were super happy with our choice to stay here, mostly because of the great location. Kandy is a busy city and this place is just far enough from it all, on a hill. It takes a 15 minutes walk to the center, or you can get a bus to Kandy witch will cost Rs.10 The staff is professional and helpful. Rooms are clean. We could only get a budget room, but it was perfect. There are common terrace areas, After trying the diner & breakfast once, we decided to eat in town instead.

Kandyan Hideout became a second home for me and my son when visiting Sri Lanka in 2019. Very comfortable room, spacious and quiet. Food made by the host was out of this world, so was his caring and hospitality. Wish to go back there

The property itself is really nice. Clean, bright, the layout is good, nice balcony. But it feels like they’re not just ready or prepared for guests. There was no hot water on arrival, so we showered from a bucket. Showers were fixed for the following morning. But even the bucket situation, Paul (who is very nice but trying to hard) filled up probably 8/9 kettles of hot water for the bucket. I told him the quantity was totally over the top, but he insisted. We ended up pouring litres of boiled water down the drain - it’s just unnecessary. You’re served with coffee in the morning even if you don’t like it, which also seems a waste. Breakfast is lacking - it takes around 45-60 minutes to arrive, and then it’s only omelette & bread. The basics are missing (e.g. jam, napkins) and just as you’re finishing the omelette & bread, some fruit arrives, over an hour after requesting. Even if you give them notice the day before of what time you’d like to eat. One morning we just couldn’t find anyone so had to go out for breakfast (and there’s not a lot around the hotel!). It’s a nice place but it just felt like they weren’t ready to take guests, and didn’t really listen to us. We asked for a couple of the basic things but didn’t receive them, while we said things were unnecessary but continued to receive them. Paul is friendly but needs assistance - the breakfast needs to be considerably quicker (pre-prepare and refrigerate the omelette ingredients, for example), with a few more offerings. Don’t spend time cutting off the skins of the fruits, it’s unnecessary, and it means we end up waiting an hour for 3 pieces of fruit to arrive and even then, not all the skin is off anyway. Keep it simple, keep it good. It’s over complicated and made for a frustrating stay, because this could easily be 4/5 stars with some attention and thought.

Loved it here. The manager was very friendly and his cooking was awesome. i've been here few times and had the best stay ever. Clean rooms and stuff too. Very good overall..

TAKE CARE!!! The most uncorrect hotel in Kandy! We booked 5 rooms, 2 nights for 9 person on the phone (August 23 and 24 2018). We saw the photos about the rooms and the facilities on the internet and the points and the reviews what the other travellers gave for this hotel. They asked from us advance payment, what we sent with bank transfer few days earlier. We were constantly inform them before about our arrival time, and according to the discussions, we arrived at the hotel at 7 pm. We went up to the two rooms on a back stairway, which was incredible dirty place. There was waste water. When we saw the rooms, what they wanted to give us... we were faint. Those were not the rooms, what they show on the internet. I made a photos about it, I can share it anyone to see, what I say. The paint of the rooms out of the wall, because of the vet. Everywhere blight, musty smell in the rooms. Havent' window on one room and that's wall is full blight, black, and dirty. The bathrooms also. We could not belive what they want to give us to sleep. They asked from us like price of one 3 star quality hotel, but what they would like give us a dirty stable. The worst place I've ever seen in Sri Lanka! The man who waited us and showed the rooms name is Paul. He would like to prepar our food also ... but he was sick, constantly sucking his nose front of us. That night was terrible for us. We said... "This is uncorrect hospitality! Theese rooms are not the same quality, what we seen on the Internet. We can not sleep here as an animal. We are soo upset, tired. Kandy is full, because the Kandy Perehera, and we must found one place to sleep 2 nights. Please, give back for us the 25.000 Rs advance, and we will go without any complaint, to do something at 8 pm." They said ... don't give back for us any money, because they lost the rental cost for 5 rooms and 2 nights. We were correct in this case. Not cheat nobody. They were uncorrect ... this case front of the police now. Lot of time, costs, nervousness for us. We are waiting administration of justice and take back our money. Horribble story! ... so better if you take care with them! They are uncorrect !

The place is the perfect vacation spot. They have both double and triple rooms,with and without AC. Attached bathrooms with heaters for every room were present too, and the host Mr.Paul's hospitality was unforgettable. Food is covered there too with breakfast, lunch and dinner for reasonable prices per person. With water bottles and filtered water free of charge. Not to mention the breathtaking views. There really cant be any other place with a better bargain for such a cheap price! I would highly recommend

Great place with nice views. Comfortable beds, and SUPER service from our host Mr. Paul who was running the place all by himself. If not for him this rating would have been a 3 star since the TVs in the rooms did not work and the WiFi was only available in the lobby. Our bathroom was not cleaned during check in.

I went this place on 2023.02.12. Wonderful place. This place situated in Kandy. Not too far from Sri Dalada Maligawa. Foods are very testy.

I strongly advise anyone considering staying at this hotel to look elsewhere for a more enjoyable and pleasant experience.'' I recently had the misfortune of staying at the Kandyan Hideout Hotel, and I must say it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that this establishment fell far short of even basic standards of hospitality. Allow me to elaborate on the numerous disappointments. First and foremost, the hotel's staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. They seemed disinterested in providing any kind of service or assistance. Whenever I approached them with a question or concern, they responded with indifference, and it felt like I was inconveniencing them. The lack of professionalism and courtesy was truly astounding. The condition of the rooms was appalling. My room was dirty, smelly with stains on the carpet and grime in the bathroom. The bed sheets were clearly not fresh, and walls had crevices and the TV was not working. It was evident that the housekeeping staff lacked any attention to detail or standards of cleanliness. I had to request a room change, only to be met with further apathy from the uninterested staff.

Place was not good as in the pictures. Service is the worst. The owner or the roomboy was asking too many questions criticizingly. The room was given after waiting for a long. The room was not even the one we booked. Worst experience ever had to face. Wouldnt recommend this for anyone.

This place is located near the Grand Kandyn hotel. The way to this hotel is not much good. But it is ok for three wheelers, Bikes, and mini cars. If your vehicle's ground level is low it is difficult to go there a little bit. The staff is actually very friendly and their hospitality is very good. They have very reasonable prices.
