This hotel was literally incredible. So quiet, the most brilliant location, fantastic service, clean and beautiful room, the view was out of this world. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Loved it so much!!

A place with a magical view! The staff is very forthcoming and nice. They will help you with right about anything and will always do so with a smile on their face. The rooms are very beautiful and clean! They serve an amazing dinner and breakfast too. I'd recommend it for couples and smaller groups, maybe not exactly the place for kids. Also once can book massages and other treatments, use the pool in a nearby hotel (transport free of charge), and even a yoga class is instructed on sight. Very positive experience staying here!

Fantastic place. The best one we stayed in Sri Lanka. The owner is very friendly and helpful. His first assistant Nilanka (I hope I write his name properly) is another wonderful guy, very clever, very honest and helpful! We enjoyed every minute of our stay :)

Most stunning view on the nearby mountain range and river. Staff have gone out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Rooms and facilities are in great shape. Recommendation: Join the chef for his morning errands to the market

A truly wonderful stay at Villa Rosa. Thanks to Volker for welcoming us and showing us around. The staff were brilliant and assisted us with anything we needed. Our only regret is that we only stayed for one night but on our next visit to Kandy, we will definitely stay at Villa Rosa again…for much longer.

Villa Rosa is a boutique hotel, located on top of a hill that has a beautiful view. Takes an effort to reach due to steep Road. A big vehicle cannot go up. The Rooms are comfortable with hot water connection & basic amenities. The Chef can present very intresting curated food options. Has a collection of books to browse.

Superb view from all angles of this villa. Clean freshwater infinity swimming pool with magnificent views over the valley. We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade into a glorious light bright spacious suite with balcony overlooking the view and garden. Extremely comfortable bed and enormous bathroom with shower and bath. Tea, coffee and milk in room with electric kettle - a much appreciated addition.  Delicious typical breakfast and dinner at reasonable prices. Friendly and attentive staff who ensure you have the best stay. The villa has a lounge area, television, library and home comforts. A spot of luxury away from the busy centre of Kandy.

Peaceful hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy but in easy reach via tuk-tuk. Room was comfortable and food was good and enjoyed choice of locations to eat in. Lovely view over river from balcony.

Secluded in the hills overlooking the Mahaweli River, Villa Rosa is a hidden gem in Kandy. Enjoyed the magnificent sunset, delicious cuisine and warm welcome. Potent earth energy is apparent. Best place to rejuvenate in Kandy 🙏🏾

Villa Rosa felt like paradise. In a remote location but not too far away from Kandy city centre. The staff was outstandingly friendly and helpful and the atmosphere heartwarming. The view from our room seemed almost too dreamlike to be true. The “boss” of the house (dog Karl) was very busy protecting the property and became a good friend to us. The food was delightful. We very much miss this place already!

Location and setting were excellent. Its a beautiful property. The staff were great. Nilanka and Dilan are very professional and friendly always making you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this place it soars high above any Airbnb and/or hotel that you will find. Some of the best cuisine in the country also. We did a cooking experience with the chef who showed us how everything is prepared.

One of the most wonderful few days in Sri Lanka. This place is a luxurious boutique hotel in the hills very close to Kandy. Perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka. The staff are amazing and work so hard to make your stay perfect. The views are incredible and the rooms very comfortable. If you like boutique hotels with impeccable service this is the right place to stay. Very good value, it’s a five star experience.

Villa Rosa is the most incredible place to stay in Kandy, even anywhere. Peaceful riverside views, large comfy rooms and delicious food. Staff are the kindest. Highly recommended addition to your trip to Sri Lanka. They take care of anything you need like tours and showing you local sights. They even managed to get us a reservation on the train to Ella after it sold out. Book direct via their website and email.

Volker was a wonderful host. Offered us ideas on things to do/ places to go. They have their own tuk tuk and brought us to town at any time. The views are absolutely incredible- best views in a hotel. The food was also excellent.

Located on a ridge high above the Mahaweli River, the rooms enjoy spectacular views across the lush valley, mysterious misty mornings and glorious sunsets. Rooms have no aircon and no fridge, but the aspect allows you to open doors and windows and enjoy cooling breezes much, but not all, of the time. The free tuktuk service into the city (15 mins) ensures the quiet situation does not seem too isolated, but remember to take the hotel address with you when you need to get a tuktuk to bring you back. It's a very convoluted access up an unlit, steep and winding road. The food was excellent, especially breakfast, and the service calm, courteous and efficient. You share the hotel with two large but friendly dogs. It's pricey, but a really lovely place to relax, even better when the new swimming pool is opened later this year.
