HOW TO FIND A VIEW POINT! You start at the temple, its very easy and beautiful walk uphill. When you reach the gate of the telecommunication towers, pass it by the left side, continue walking for just 10-15 metres and find a narrow corridor between 2 fences, walk through it - you'll see this pretty view point. It's very peaceful there, and the view is so green! Definitely worth it!

It’s just a 15 to 20 minutes ride to the top from the Nuwara Eliya town. While you heading to the top there are plenty of beautiful views that will show the entire Nuwara eliya town( see attached photo). There won’t be the mist problem because it’s just a small hill. Walking also possible but consuming more time and energy for that it is not worthy. For couple of good instagram or social media photos it is worth. In the top there are some telecommunications towers and ugly bushes nothing else. So it is not recommended to go the top. Definitely you will find some good satisfying views in the middle.

Single Tree Hill in Nuwara Eliya is an absolute must-visit! The panoramic views from the top are simply breathtaking. The hike to the peak is invigorating and worth every step. The sight of Nuwara Eliya and the surrounding tea plantations from this vantage point is something you won't easily forget. I recommend visiting during sunrise or sunset for a truly magical experience. Make sure to bring your camera to capture the stunning scenery. If you're in Nuwara Eliya, don't miss out on this natural marvel!

You can have the best view of Nuwaraeliya town from here. First worship Single Tree Hill temple, which is still under construction. Also you can give donations for the constructions of the temple. You can park your vehicle in the temple yard. Then go along the road to mountain by foot. (Road upto the temple is good, with newly carpeted. But small suitable for cars and vans) But the road from the temple to mountain is not in good condition to go by a vehicle. Once you go upwards the mountain through this road, you will see this awesome view of the town. Better to go on a dawn or dusk. That view is awesome.

The word “Single Tree” has been in existence from time immemorial. An excellent view of the sun rise can be seen from the top of this mountain. Situated 6890 ft above meansea level and takes about 90 minutes to reach the top. Single Tree hill is the best vantage point to observe the beauty of Nuwara Eliya and the beauty of Haggala Mountain range. Single Tree Mountain unravels the spectacular views of the entire Nuwara Eliya Town including other mountains such as Piduruthalagala and Haggala mountains. After trekking through tea plantations one reaches the top where there is just 1 single tree. This is the 7th highest mountain in Sri Lanka and is easily accessible. If one gets to the top around 5.30 a.m. – 7.00 a.m. one can see the best cloud formations around Sri Lanka and also the reflection of the mountain through Gregory Lake. On a very clear day one can see Piduruthalagala Mountain(Pedro Mountain), Lovers leap falls, Lake Gregory and urban areas of Nuwara Eliya in the northern valley and the southern valley of Adam’s Peak, Seven Virgin Hills, conical Hill and UdaRadella mountains.

It's an enjoyable hike up the hill, which could take roughly 1 hour (especially if you take your time to stop and enjoy the views along the way). Up until the temple is a carpet road where you can reach by any vehicle. After passing the temple, the road is a bit tricky, rocks and gravel. A 4x4 can easily reach somewhat until the top. There onwards you must walk. The footpath will lead you to a fenced area consisting of some radio towers. Due to security reasons people may not be allowed to enter that area. The picture taken is from that point of the journey. There was another footpath which went down the hill, passing the fenced area. But unfortunately we did not take that path as it seemed to be too narrow to cross through the forest. Anyway, later after we came back from the hike, we saw some people mentioning that you must pass the radio towers by taking the footpath, which will lead you to the actual Simple Tree View Point in the middle of the tea estate. I am unable to confirm it, but if you are planning to come, you can double check with some locals. Apart from that, the views along the way are truly mesmerizing, with the breeze of fresh air, it was a hike to remember.

Great view! Walk a bit north, past the radio station, until a tea field with a small pavillon. There's a great view for the sunrise!

One of the 'off-the-beaten-track' places in Nuwara Eliya and Single Tree Hill is not very far from the Nuwara Eliya town. From the summit, you get to see an amazing vista of the town and the surrounding tea estates. You can drive halfway towards the summit and the rest of the journey will have to be carried out on foot. A great experience for those who love long walks.

Good road conditions almost up to the hill, Better to park your low ground clearance vehicle at the temple and walk the rest 1.5 km upwards. You can capture an amazing arial view of Nuwaraeliya city from the view point. And if you walk through the bush towards the tower gate , you can clearly see Sripada peak , and 7 virgin mountain range beside Sripada. There is a small water fountain where you can drink water. If you’ve a 4*4 vehicle , you can go to the viewpoint with out any hazel

Just few kilometres from Nuwara Eliya. You can see a beautiful scenery once you on the Top. Will take 20mins to reach there via Unique View Road. Otherwise you can use the single tree temple (Swarnagiri Temple) road. You can park your vehicle at the temple. Then you have to hike few kilometres. If you have a Suv vehicle you can close to the Single Tree Mountain.

You have to travel for about half an hour from the main road to reach the summit point. However the summit does not have a proper view point and since some transmission towers are situated, visitors are not allowed in. The viewpoint is situated before the summit. It provides a picturesque view of the Nuwara Eliya town. Best view is during the sunrise. The latter half of the road is not in a good condition, hence it is not easy to reach the view point by a normal vehicle.

I had an amazing experience hiking up Single Tree Hill in Nuwara Eliya! The views from the top are simply breathtaking, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding hills, tea plantations, and the town itself. The hike itself is not too difficult, but it does require a bit of stamina and good footwear, as the path can be steep and uneven in places. However, the effort is definitely worth it! The trail is well-marked and there are plenty of scenic spots along the way to rest and take in the scenery. The hike takes about an hour or so, depending on your pace, and I would recommend starting early in the morning to avoid the heat and crowds. The hill is also a popular spot for sunrise and sunset viewing, so plan accordingly if you want to catch those magical moments. Overall, I would highly recommend hiking up Single Tree Hill if you're visiting Nuwara Eliya. It's a beautiful and memorable experience that will stay with you long after you leave. Don't forget to bring your camera and some water, and enjoy the stunning beauty of Sri Lanka's hill country!

Very nice hike from the city, the most beautiful part with the best views on surroundings was on the road from the temple to the top. You can go on the top of the mountain, but it is heavily forrested with no views at all.

My Google Review # 000048. Small Mountain. Great View. Serene Buddhist Temple. Visited here in March with family as a detour compared to the options available @ that moment. Our cabbie offered us to take here just for a different experience. The roads were pretty narrow for our Honda Sedan to maneuver, but, manageable. On reaching the top, the view was breathtaking! You can see the Gregory lake, the lush tea plantations and the Nuwara Eliya topography from here. The temple is made beautifully and maintained very well by the priests there. A huge, real-sized elephant statue is also made. Definitely worth spending 15-20 mins here. Takes 10 mins to reach there from the main road. Date of Experience : March 2019.

Wonderful place for a short hike with family and kids. Can view the whole Gregory lake area from the uphill. Calm and quiet atmosphere. It's advisory to walk from halfway than going in a vehicle. On the way back, you can walk through the tea plantation and reach the town. I have visited twice in three years gap.

Single Tree Hill, also known as “One Tree Hill”, is situated along Single Tree Hill Road in Nuwara Eliya. Standing at a height of 2100 m, it is recognized as the 10th highest mountain in Sri Lanka. The mountain is named as “Single Tree” because there is one tree at its summit. The mountain peak gives amazing views of the surrounding landscape. Some of the mountains visible from the summit of Single Tree Hill include the Piduruthalagala Mountain, Hakgala Mountain and Sri Pada Holy Mountain. The hike to Single Tree Hill ranges from easy to medium difficulty level and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.

It's good to take a 30-minute walk from town. You can see Lake Gregory and the views are the best. In particular, the tea field view cannot be expressed in words. Get away from the noisy city and heal.

The location shown on google map is 100% correct. This place got its name as Single Tree Hill because there was only one tree on top of this hill. Today, the tree is dead, but the remains of the dead tree can still be seen there.

You can park your vehicle at the Single Tree Buddhist temple. Please try to tell them about your visit to add some respect. From the temple you have to walk. It is fun. We walked with our two kids. You can have a spectacular view of Nuwara Eliya town from there. The top of the hill is closed due to security reasons since there are communication towers. The climate and environment change rapidly when you go up.

Great ariel views of nuwera eliya city from the top and along the way. Cars can be taken up to near the temple and then it's hike of about 40mnts along the paved road to reach the top. On the way to the top once the radio towers are visible keep an eye out for a rugged stairway leading up to the viewpoint. If not follow the road right to the top where there is a locked gate, take the concrete foot path next to it and onto your right there will be a small gravel foot path inbetween the fences which lead to the view point.

Single tree Hill Buddhist temple has a height of 6890 feet or 2100 meters above sea level. The significance and the reason for the peak to obtain the name Single tree Hill Buddhist temple is because the peak has just one tree on top of it. It is quite a view since the hill has just a beautiful tree and a magnificent temple.

picturesque vew and a buddhist temple. Use google maps to reach this location. Road is good. You drive up to the top of the mountain. There is a temple. Can see the view perfectly in sunny days. I went in the evening so most of the area was covered in mist. You can see the road which direction to Nanu Oya from here. Can can park your vehicle in the compound of the temple. There is big buddha statue in this temple which is under constructed. I went here before, Hamuduruwo was not happy.

We went to see this misty hill, which is called “the single tree hill”. It was just like 10 mins from N’eliya town. The road was good at the beginning of the trip, but the latter 2km is bit difficult. The road is in a bad condition, you cannot go in a car. Throughout the ride, the view was magnificent. We could see most of the N’ eliya town, including the lake Gregory while going up the hill. What we expected was a single tree on the top of the hill as its name imply, but there were just huge towers obstructing the view. We had to walk through foot paths around the giant towers, to go into a place where we can view the city from the mountain.

We got up quite early so it was an easier walk. And there was no one. But it got cloudy as we reached the top and we saw just cloudes and trees. Plus the very top is ocuupied by some government buildings ( tv or radio) so not much view. Road gets unpleasant at some point after the temple, but til the temple it is easy peasy comfy one Along the way you have plenty of nice spots for photos. Also it is part of tea plantation Pedro where no restrictions for tourist. And you get to a newer Buddhist temple ( it is visible from the town) which is deserted in a morning. Calm and picturesque.

We have expected more. The view on Nuwara Eliya is nice, but limited. The western part of the hill is covered in bushes and trees, so it's impossible to see a sunset there. It is maybe possible to get with a Tuk Tuk to the top, but the road is terrible and we preferred to keep the vehicle by the temple on the way.
