Riverston peak is an amazing and beautiful place in srilanka. It can reached by travelling 30 km away from matale town, on Girandurukotte Road when travelling on Matale . It is a place with cool windy road with sharp hairpin turns and it offers the best views of surrounding country called " Mini world's end ". Climate condition here is very similar to Horton plain with having two beautiful and great waterfalls which are Sera Ella and Bambarakiri Ella The near by freshwater river Thelgamu oya offers a clean and crystal clear but chilly water to the visitors. Riverston Matale Kunckle Mountain located between two districts of Matale and Kandy in central srilanka. Backpacking in Kunckles will provide you a great opportunity to experience every forest type in srilanka and trekking tail will lead to experience different climates zones and it will help you to burn extra calories gained during holidays. The kunckles trekking tours could be combined with a visit to Matale Aluwihara temple. Hassle free pickup and drop off package are Available in kandy city hotels and you will accompanied by well trained and experienced naturalists. So, don't forget to list this place down in your travel journal as a place you should visit one day!

This entire are is breathtaking. Green Green , Green and Sky that's it. Your lungs will grow few millis with the Oxygen you take here. Air is so quality. To reach the top you need to park your vehicle and cross a gate. From their you need to walk around 02 KM in a road around 08 feet wide. You might find some leeches so don't walk in the grass. I can rate this experience a 10/10 because it's whole lot of nature you can get enough in a day or 02.

A very quiet and beautiful mist-covered mountain range. Have to walk about two kilometers. In some cases leeches can injure the legs. So you have to climb the mountain with caution. Sometimes the top of the mountain is shrouded in mist. Parking is possible. It is slippery on rainy days so you have to walk carefully.

The views from the top are extraordinary. But, the access to the topmost tower is quite difficult. Nothing much to see on top of the hill, only the surrounding mountains. So, assess before spending 4 hours and energy for climbing.

Rivaston is one of the most beautiful peaks in Matale district. This belongs to Knuckles mountain forest. The weather here changes very quickly. Plants adapt to cold weather for most of the year. The higher you go, the less tall but strong plants that can withstand the wind are found in abundance. Here you can see many species of plants and animals unique to Sri Lanka. There is also a windbreak here and there is a very strong wind. There are also cliffs, so be careful

It is also known as Riverston Mountain (Gap). #Riverton's environment is fantastic, and you will be amazed by the biodiversity there. Riverston is a scenic place in Sri Lanka that offers a variety of natural and cultural attractions. It is located in the Matale district, near the Knuckles Mountain Range, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riverston is also known as Riverston Gap or Riverston Mountain, because of the narrow pass that connects the two sides of the mountain range. Riverston is a popular destination for trekkers, nature lovers, and adventure seekers, who can enjoy the following experiences: - Climbing Riverston Tower: This is a 360-meter-high tower that stands on top of Riverston Mountain. It was built by the Sri Lanka Air Force as a communication tower, but it also serves as a viewpoint for visitors who want to see the panoramic views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and forests. The tower can be reached by a steep and winding road that requires a four-wheel drive vehicle or a motorbike. The climb to the tower is challenging but rewarding, as it offers a bird's eye view of the beauty of Riverston. - Hiking to Little World's End: This is a cliff edge that overlooks a deep valley at the end of Pitawala Pathana, a grassland area that is part of the Knuckles Conservation Forest. The cliff is about 1000 meters above sea level and offers a stunning view of the valley below and the mountains beyond. The hike to Little World's End takes about an hour from the entrance of Pitawala Pathana, and it passes through a variety of flora and fauna, including rare orchids, butterflies, and birds. The hike is easy and suitable for beginners, but it requires caution near the edge of the cliff. - Visiting Bambarakiri Ella: This is a beautiful waterfall that cascades down from a height of about 50 meters into a natural pool. The waterfall is located about 5 kilometers from Riverston town, and it can be accessed by a short walk from the main road. The waterfall is surrounded by lush greenery and rocks, and it creates a misty and refreshing atmosphere. The pool at the base of the waterfall is ideal for swimming and relaxing, but it can be deep and slippery, so visitors should be careful. - Exploring Sera Ella: This is another waterfall that is located in the Knuckles Conservation Forest, about 10 kilometers from Riverston town. The waterfall has two parts: the upper part falls from a height of about 10 meters into a small pool, while the lower part falls from a height of about 40 meters into a larger pool. The waterfall is unique because it has a cave behind it, where visitors can walk behind the falling water and enjoy a different perspective. The cave also has some ancient paintings on its walls, which add to its charm. - Experiencing Riverston Culture: Riverston is not only a place of natural beauty, but also a place of cultural heritage. The area is home to many local communities who have their own traditions and lifestyles. Visitors can learn more about Riverston culture by visiting some of the temples, villages, and farms in the area. For example, they can visit Rattota Temple, which is an ancient Buddhist temple that has a history of over 2000 years. They can also visit Thelgamuwa Village, which is a traditional village that showcases the rural life of Sri Lanka. They can also visit some of the tea estates and spice gardens that produce some of the finest products in Sri Lanka. Riverston is a place that has something for everyone who loves nature and culture. It is a place that can inspire awe and wonder with its diverse and breathtaking attractions. Riverston is a place that should not be missed by anyone who visits Sri Lanka.

Very remote area. The view from the top can be accessed by a small hike about 2km. The last part of the hike can be difficult for physically weak so be prepared. Should climb on early morning for the best view. Be responsible travellers and keep your plastic away from this pristine natural getaway.

The most famous Riverston waterfalls include, Bambarakiri Ella Pitawala Pathana Ella Raththinda Ella Wadda Pani Ella Wambatuhena Ella Bambarungahana Ella Sera Ella You can visit all the places in Riverston within a day, but if you can allocate at least two or three days, you can travel to all destinations with proper planning. The road to the top of the hill is narrow in some places. Except for large vehicles, you can prepare any vehicle for this trip. Having a four-wheel drive ( 4WD) vehicle will make your journey more comfortable. Also, keep in mind that Rattota is the final town where you can get everything you need.

Iconic tourist attraction in Knuckles mountain range. One of the most beautiful places that you should witness in Sri Lanka. Amazing biodiversity with cool and calm environment. Beautiful sceneries everywhere. Famous for strong wind and you can feel it very well. You must complete the small hike to the top to enjoy that magical precious view. The weather can be changed in any minute so it's better to prepare for some drizzles. Take necessary actions for leach attacks. You have to take a ticket at the entrance. Parking is available. There are so many attractive places around Riverston so you should plan your day initially.

Absolutely beautiful place. This is my third time. Superb cool place. This time we cannot see the surroundings due the mist. But the experience is amazing. This area is very rich of biodivercity. Please procect this to future ❤️💚 Our path- #Babarakiri ella #Riverston #Pitawala pathana / Mini worlds end # Took a bath from Thelgamu oya #Sera Ella Leaving sera ella 5.30pm On this trip don't wait until late evening to start return ( when you return the same way) We are too late and have trouble with mist and rain. Better to start around 3.30/4.00pm from Thelgamu oya. However we had a lot of unforgettable memories during this journey.

The most scenic view of SL, the view from the top is amazingly beautiful. The road from Raththota to riverston is not good especially for small cars but with good driving skills can manage it's about 8km. Not much parking space and no proper toilet facilities which authorities have to consider. The entrance ticket is Rs 70.

It's this awesome mountainous spot in Matale District that's a total hit with tourists! 😊 breathtaking views, waterfalls like babarakiri, and a massive grassy plain called Pitawala Pathana surrounded by mountains. 🌿🏞️ The Riverston viewpoint is the real deal – gives you a jaw-dropping panoramic view of the Knuckles mountain range and the valleys around. 🏔️ Plus, there's hiking, trekking, and camping for the adventurous souls. 💚 Picture cool weather, misty vibes, and pure tranquility! 😍

If you want to go away from the crowded and noicy people, I think this place really suits you. Because the mist covers all over the place most of the time. Very silent. I think it is because this place is a part of Knucles mountain range. This tropical place is very pure so we should not put any garbage and polithen there. Beware from leaches. The surface is wet so the leaches live there. The road is bit annoying I mean the road is not comfortable there. You should buy an access ticket there and it only costs 30 Lkr per one person. For the foreigners it is 700 lkr per person. You can go to Pitawala pathana and riverston view point Using that ticket all day..

Quiet a good experience (Almost very good). I've been here three times. This time was the best time i experienced that heavy windy adventure. There was some wind when i visited last time, But this time it was very very strong which almost pushed us through the road. Definitely worthy visit. And there was a proper stair case for the second peak which is near the peak which has the tower (it wasn't there when i last visited) But since i visited last time, this time the sanitary facilities were considerably low.

Riverston is another peak in the Knuckles mountain range situated in Matale, Central Province of Sri Lanka. The Riverston peak has an elevation of 1,424 meters, and Riverston is a famous mountain for hiking, although not much known among foreigners. This mountain has many best views, and the mountain is located close to Pitawala pathana Mini World’s End. There is a car park at the bottom where you start the hike, and you can park your vehicle there. Avoid Public holidays because the area is fully packed with locals and you cant enjoy the view. There are 2,3 small shops to buy sweaters and snacks on weekends and long holidays. Kids Friendly Hike Compared to other mountain peaks in the Knuckles Mountain Range, the weather conditions of Riverston is well manageable as the climate is usually not very cool as this mountain is much closer to the dry zone of Knuckles. But in the rainy season & cold months, the wind speed and mist will cover the whole area and suddenly turn into a very cold place. Especially in the Riverstone gap, in particular, is an area with lots of gusty winds, and you feel like you being carried away.

Riverston is one of the unique & scenic mountain areas situated in Sri Lanka. You can either reach Riverston by a personal vehicle or by public transport (only 2-3 bus turns per day are available from Matale). There are multiple activities to do in this area: Hiking to the Riverston peak, Visiting Pitawala Pathana & Mini World's End, Waterfall hunt in the caliber of Pathane Ella & Wulu Ella, Visiting Atanwala village & the surrounding etc. Leeches are available in numbers everywhere, hence it is advisable to take some leech repellent if you are allergic to them. Since the weather in Riverston is always unpredictable, it is better to be prepared for occasional showers.

The Knuckles Mountain Range lies in central Sri Lanka, in the Districts of Matale and Kandy. The range takes its name from a series of recumbent folds and peaks in the west of the massif which resemble the knuckles of clenched fist when viewed from certain locations in the Kandy District.
