Interesting hanging bridge, lots of street food to try (it looks interesting but I did not like it despite the fact I adore sea food). You may observe raising and lowering of the flag everyday, sometimes with ceremonials. The TV tower looking like lotus flower may be observed from Galle Face as well.

Loved the Galle Face Green park & view, a must visit place in Colombo. It's also fabulous & the most relaxing place as you get to see the magnificent view of the beach alongside. You can spend lots of time feeling the cold breeze swaying and the vibes it gives to everyone. Could not experience the street food here as we happen to visit in the morning.

Galle face green is situated at the most attractive area of the Colombo city, which is financial and business capital of Sri Lanka. It was initially established in 1859 by governor sir Henry George Ward. It is an iconic location which owns 5 hectares ocean - side urban park which consists with 500m along the coastline. In Galle face green people used to play horse racing, used to perform golf, and used to play sports like cricket, polo, football and tennis. It is located in between Galle road and Indian ocean. It is a best place for relaxation which is popular among teenagers, lovers and kite players and merry makers. It is somewhat crowded in weekends by day trippers and picnickers. The most interesting part in there is "street foods", galle face green is popular for many sea foods made by prawns and crabs and you can taste slices of mango with pepper and salt too at there. And beside this beautiful place there are most luxurious and popular hotels. So, if you want to get a different kind of quality time experience with your loved ones under the open blue sky with the breeze next to the picturesque ocean, Galle face green is an ideal place to visit to have an amazing experience!

It's a decent spot to go during nightfall. There are part of little food slows down where you can eat road food. You can discover individuals strolling here, kids playing in park and part of traveler too close to the water. Adored the kites on the sea shore. Never seen such huge kites and are likewise not costly. Took one with me back home is still there. In each of the a decent spot to go to in Colombo to watch a lovely nightfall and play with kites.

You can spend hours here without any idea. Very beautiful all around and located at a very prime location. Just behind this is the Colombo City Centre Mall where you can visit. Also parliament building and other important buildings in the area as well. Don't forget to get on the ramp that leads a bit into the ocean and click some pictures.

Galle Face is a 5 ha (12 acres) ocean-side urban park, which stretches for 500 m (1,600 ft) along the coast, in the heart of Colombo, the financial and business capital of Sri Lanka. The promenade was initially laid out in 1859 by Governor Sir Henry George Ward, although the original Galle Face Green extended over a much larger area than is seen today. The Galle Face Green was initially used for horse racing and as a golf course, but was also used for cricket, polo, football, tennis and rugby. Sri Lanka, being an island, is known for her amazing beaches and views of the sea. However, in Colombo,it isn’t always easy to find a place where you can enjoy the crashing of the waves and most of all, an undisturbed view of the sunset. Galle Face Green thus attracts a large number of people, especially during the evening, although it is rarely empty, even in the afternoon when there is very little shelter from the scorching sun. Galle Face Green (Galle Face Beach) is a half kilometer promenade in the heart of Colombo and was initially laid out in 1859 by Sir Henry Ward, Governor of British Ceylon. The stretch of land was used for horse racing and golf and was known as the Colpetty Race Course. Today, Galle Face Green is a favorite place for families, children, lovers and picnickers. While the hot sun makes carrying around an umbrella a must and the crows are a nuisance, it is still a beautiful place to relax, enjoy the beach and have meals. There is enough space to walk around, sit and even fly kites. During the kite season, the skies over Galle Face Green are hidden behind the colorful kites that bring joy to the young and old. Those who enjoy people watching will be able to do a lot of observing at Galle Face Green, as it attracts people of various cultures, ethnicities and ages. There are many stalls along the beach and they offer food, drinks, kites, toys, trinkets and many other goodies. The variety of wadey (a popular fried snack) like those with prawns (Isso Wadey) are sold at low prices and the achcharu (pickle) is always perfectly sweet and spicy. It is advisable to first walk along the strip of kiosks to know the variety of food and drink before making a purchase. However, if you are worried about the sanitary conditions of these stalls, there are many restaurants close by where you could enjoy a meal. Galle Face Hotel, The Shangi-La Colombo, The Kingsbury, Galadari Hotel, Taj Samudra Colombo and Hilton Colombo are all within walking distance. The Dutch Hospital is also in the area and there are many restaurants where one can enjoy a meal and the restaurants offer various cuisines so there are many options to choose from. Three wheelers and buses constantly go past Galle Face Green, so you won’t have your options limited to restaurants that are close to the promenade and you can also enjoy the thrilling experience of traveling by tuktuk or bus. These days there have been conducting in major development(2022)

Just beautiful. Watching the beautiful sunset, the Sri Lankan people enjoying the sun and ocean view, the many food stalls and the lowering of the flag by the soldiers at sunset. Make sure you stop at Nanas Chef for a massive selection of delicious meals all at great prices.

This large, oceanfront park area is where many Sri Lankans go to play on the beach. The park is between Galle Road and the Indian Ocean, right in the heart of Colombo next to the Fort area. It's the largest open space in the city and has 500 meters of beach, along with a beachfront promenade filled with vendors. Colombo's hot sunshine means this is also a popular area for night fun - Saturday and Sunday nights are the best times to visit. You can wade in the water, picnic on the beach, or fly a kite in the ever-present wind. It's a fun place for families, and it's also good for running.

Extremely crowded public place, especially on weekends and evenings. Would suggest going further beyond on the same route , where you’ll find the most scenic sunsets across the beach while railways passing through. Opposite lanes have great restaurants. Lovely roads for a short drive

I recently visited the Galle Face Green and I must say, I had an amazing time! The park is well-maintained and the facilities are clean and up-to-date. There were plenty of options for food and drinks, as well as beach gear rentals, so I didn't have to worry about bringing my own. It wasn't too crowded when I went ( At Night / Crowed at noon ) you can find a nice spot to lay out and enjoy the sun. There were also plenty of activities to choose, which made the experience even more fun. Overall, I recommend the Beach Park to anyone looking for a great day out by the water. It's definitely best beaches I've been.

One of the most popular place in Colombo is Galle Face Green. This is a place to be in evening or morning if you’re in Colombo. Really nice view and wind and ocean, perfect for ending a day at Galle face. Lots of green park area. It’s usually very crowded and there are many food stalls selling seafood and stuff. Just be sure if you really wanna try from those stalls and food is just sitting in the case sometimes without cover in open air.

As dusk approaches, the sky comes alive with hues of gold and crimson, offering a sunset view that's nothing short of stunning. Amidst this natural splendor, street vendors set up shop, serving some of the most delectable seafood treats that tantalize the taste buds. A one-star morning at Galle Face Beach might disappoint due to cleanliness issues and limited amenities. However, the beach transforms into during the night. The illuminated promenade, coupled with the lively atmosphere and diverse street food options, creates an enchanting setting. While the daytime experience may fall short, Galle Face Beach comes alive at night, making it a worthwhile visit for those seeking a vibrant nightlife by the sea.

Nice place to relax and have a bite of street food in the heart of Colombo. The place is being renovated half of the ground is closed and half is open to public. Good to see people are returning back. About two Naana Kade are open in temporary facilities which don't have roofs so avoid the place on rainy days. Wade carts also available now. They have introduce a jumbo prowns wadei which I didn't see couple of years ago. Other venders also available who sells kites, inflatable toys and illuminating toys. Also can watch the New Bridge at the Port City from here, illuminated with lights for about 60 minutes just after the sunset. Warning : Be careful about your valuables witnessed a guy who grabs and run a mobile phone.

The Galle Face Green is a strip of land spanning 5 hectares that is located between the Galle Road and the Indian Ocean. This area is now considered the largest open space in Colombo and one of the main highlights of the city. It is an extremely popular destination for many people including children, vendors, teenagers, lovers, kite flyers, merrymakers and all those who want to indulge in their favorite pastimes next to the sea under the open sky. Usually on weekends the Galle Face Green in Sri Lanka is filled with people and very busy. You can find many day trippers, picnickers and food vendors if you manage to visit the promenade during a holiday. There are two large hotels that border the strip of the promenade. The Ceylon Inter-Continental Hotel and at the other end, is the quaint Galle Face Hotel, one of Sri Lanka’s oldest and most popular hotels. It is an entire world on its own with a good dose of old world charm including old furniture, hand carved doors, balconies and high ceilings. This architectural marvel from the colonial era was established in 1864 and it has since given residence to many great royalties such as Prince Philip and the Duke of Edinburgh whose first car is placed in the hotel museum.

Well, if like walking, it should be your place to enjoy a little garden near the coast. You can sit and watch the waves hitting their shores or watching people 😁. There are seafood (fried seafoods) there, you can have a taste. If you're a foreigner, you should know that there's not manything to do here, but enjoy the view of ocean and skyline. Yes There are high buildings you can easily see. You can visit mall in its opposite site. It's very famous. Maybe you should check it out too

A large area to enjoy your time with family and friends. You can see breathtaking views towards the Indian Ocean. You can exercise, fly kites. A safe place for all. Toilet facilities are also available. There is a street food area and parking lots. I don't recommend the food here and you have to pay for your parking too. There are also modern shopping centers near this place. It is a very beautiful place to watch the sunset. There is no charge to walk and enter the area.

Galle Muddora Pitiya, this beach known as Galle face is one of the most attractive places in the Western Province as well as in Sri Lanka. This place is crowded with local and foreign tourists and is crowded with people on weekends and holidays as well as in the evenings of weekdays. It is a place where you can relax your mind and watch the gentle sea waves coming to the land with increasing waves from time to time. It is a place that has attracted everyone's attention in such a busy environment.

An okayish place to spend half an hour or so walking along the promenade, enjoying the breeze and watching the sunset. Lots of swanky food trucks open up in the evenings, if you'd like to grab a bite. If you're a tourist who is spending just 1-2 days in Colombo, avoid it. Best beach at the heart of Colombo!! There is huge Srilankan flag placed at the beach. Also you can walk to a bridge to experience the waves of the sea!! You can have star hotel foods as well as local foods from the location. A long walk in this location in the evening would bring a special feelings to mind and you could get relaxed. You can take beautiful pictures from the location - especially from the bridge and also from the big Srilankan flag. A must visit place for those who visit Colombo.

Still, it's in a new development phase. The new underground street food court and the ground behind that are not fully open to the public. The best time slot is around 5.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. to visit here because until the sun goes down it's like burning alive. πŸ₯΅ Especially there are not many shelters or shadows to go under and survive the brutal sun. So be aware that πŸ˜ŒπŸ™‚ Street food is there but in my point of view, I'm not recommending them either they are not very much delicious. πŸ₯΄πŸ€’ Most of them taste like roster branches from a tree. 😬😟 Get something from elsewhere before you even go there. Most of the weekdays and weekends evenings are crowded but it is worth it to visit there because of the beautiful view of the sunset. πŸŒ‡ 😍
