A well-known rest stop on the Colombo to Kandy main road offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains, especially the well-known "Bible Rock" mountain (also known as "Bathalegala"). It's amazing in the evening since you can watch a beautiful sunset.

A great place to rest when travel. Plenty of parking space is available on the roadside. Be careful when walking near the edge. A very beautiful scenery can be seen here. A few shops (corn, sweets, fruits, souvenirs, etc.) are available on other side of the road.

Kadugannawa is a town in the Kandy district of the Central Province of Sri Lanka and has a salubrious mountain terrain with fresh air and tranquil surrounding. The rock view point and rest area is located on the A1 Colombo-Kandy Road as it passes Kadugannawa. There are scores of wayside boutiques and restaurants offering food and drink as well as seasonal fruits and veggies. Juggery and other local sweet meats on offer are very popular. Vendors selling locally made handicrafts and trinquets are a common sight. This location is a veritable photographer's paradise with rolling vistas of the valley below and the majestic Gampola mountain range. A definite and worthy stop on the way to and from Kandy to Colombo.

To watch the beauty of the Sri Lanka as first instance, this place is very nice. very careful on the traffic of the road because too many vehicles are crossing this area regularly, because this place is lying along with main road.

It’s a view point from where you get a glimpse of Kandy town. On the way to elephant orphanage from Kandy, you can stop here for a few clicks. Luckily the weather was good that day and the clouds helped in the background, enhancing the pleasant feel.

So beautiful. My family visits Sri Lanka every 3-4 years to see our relatives so this is always a sight to see when we travel between Mawanella and Daulagala. It's so breathtaking and relaxing. The food vendors make great staple street food eg. roti, sambal, coconut juice, etc. Definitely pull over and take a breath of fresh air when you travel on this highway!
