This is a must visit place if you are around NuwaraEliya. You have to buy a ticket at the entrance for 80 Rs per adult. And then seperately you have to buy safari jeeps to go up the mountain to the viewpoint. The safari jeeps are overpriced and they allow only 6 people for 3000 Rs. Although there is a front seat empty, they do not let another person get on which is very unfair. The ride to the viewpoint is very difficult inside the jeep. And you have to keep your phones and valuables held onto you tight as with the bumpy ride they can get thrown out of the jeep. The viewpoint is beautiful and you can see several provinces in one go. And the clear demarcations between the provinces with the differences in the trees can be seen well. The drivers of the jeeps explain the places that can be seen from there. It is so cold in the morning there with lots of wind. The drivers urge you to hurry up and come within 20 minutes which is annoying. Also they give you the option to get down the jeep at the Agro farm on the way back, and they do not wait until you come of course so there is about a 20min walk back to the entrance.

I recently visited a place that felt like another planet of ice and grass, where the temperature hovered around 15 degrees Celsius. This unique destination offered an otherworldly experience that left me in awe. To explore this frozen wonderland, I embarked on a thrilling jeep ride that took me through hills and valleys, offering breathtaking views of the icy landscape. The journey itself was an adventure, and I couldn't have asked for a better way to traverse this frigid terrain. However, it's important to note that visiting this extraordinary location required purchasing tickets for entry and paying for the jeep ride. While these expenses may seem like a downside, they were well worth it for the unforgettable memories and surreal scenery I encountered. Overall, my visit to this extreme cool paradise was an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking an adventure in a world unlike any other. Just be prepared to invest in the tickets and jeep ride for an experience you'll cherish forever.

15 to 20 minutes by car from the town of Nuwara Eliya. There is enough parking at the entrance area, which is accessible by a rough road. A ticket costs Rs. 80, while a safari Jeep with seven seats costs Rs. 3000. It takes ten to fifteen minutes to reach the off-road track lookout. Fantastic sights as you go and gaze out. When there are no clouds in the sky, it's amazing and you can see some really nice views.

One of the beautiful place in Nuwaraeliya. We went here during 2019 when we were on our honeymoon. This is open to 7am to 4 pm. You have to buy tickets at the entrance and then you have to go by a jeep. Jeep is costing around 2000. 6 people can go in a jeep. The ride is very jerky and not recommended to pregnant ladies, people who have done surgeries and also small children. Love the view. Must visit place in Srilanka.

Must visit place of you're coming to Nuwara Eliya. Tickets are issued from 7am to 5pm. You can only stay up to 6pm. It's better if you could go very early in the morning. Then you'd be able to see 8 of the 10 tallest mountains in Sri Lanka. There's nothing much to see if it's too misty or raining. Scenic views. The Cab driver charges Rs. 3000. It's Rs. 80 for a local adult. If you're coming via personal vehicles, you must stop them at the parking space and get the cab. 6 people are allowed to go in a Cab. You can get the entire cab if you want.

Stunning Mountain View of Nuwara Eliya and surrounding areas with a lookout point. Saw a few animals this season like deer and Buffalo, but our guide told us May is best to come to that region as the temperatures balance to warm. It was rainy/misty and very windy at the lookout, so dress accordingly. In this region, always bring an umbrella and/or raincoat, socks and covered shoes unless you are comfortable in flip flops and sandals. It’s wet, but at anytime, it’s worth the view and treks! Also the Agrofarm is a must as they have a rabbit island and you can go in and pet the rabbits!

Great place to visit in Nuwaraeliya. Ticket price is 50lkr per each. But you have to rent off road vehicles to go. Usually it costs 2500lkr. You can see nice landscapes of some major hills in upcountry.

We were just 3, My self and two kids, it's totally worth Safari, Safari Jeep Cost was 3000 LKR and Entrance tickets cost per Adult 80.00 and Minor 30.00 (Locals) It's Superb scenic beauty and 360 views, You can find out the Central and UVA Province boarders. Scenic beauty, Biodiversity, Adventure trekking, and the weather are the reason to visit this place. Please remember can't predict the weather patterns sometimes get clear view sometimes mist... But both are amazing.

The plains is accessed only by safari jeeps, no other means. Area is surrounded by forests & the plain is protected from wild animals by electric fence. There is potato farm on the way to plains. Don't expect to see elks , becoz they come only after evening. I saw only poo.

Recommended to see earlier the morning 🌄 Very cold place. The park is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., excluding Poya days and other religious holidays, and the entrance fee is Rs. 400 per person, whereas a jeep can be hired for a 1-hour tour at about Rs. 2000, fitting in up to seven people. You could even take a bicycle up there as the terrain is perfect for cycling! Moon Plains, also known as Sandathenna, is a 400-metre long, 40 metre deep valley in Ranhawadigama, about 6km from Nuwara Eliya. What was once part of a catchment area, Moon Plains is now a notable Agricultural and Environmental Tourism Zone since March 2014.

It is not far from Nuwara Eliya town. The main attraction of Moon Plains is the mini Worlds End at the edge giving a 360 Degree view of the surrounding peaks and towns. You cant walk there and have to hire a jeep which is costs Rs.2,000. Seven people can go. Parking available. If you are lucky enough you can see wild boars, cows, buffaloes, deer, and some birds.

One of the best sight seeing places of Nuwaraeliya. Public Bathroom available, but not clean enough. Pay for tickets and get a Jeep to go to uphill to see the view point. Road was bumpy. But we enjoyed it.

Fantastic and overwhelming place with a nice safari ride of around 03 kilometers. They usually charge 2500 for safari ride in jeep and 50 rupees for entrance ticket for moon plains. A good experience in nuwareliya and new to everyone with good heartwarming happiness in it.

Ticket price is 80 LKR and jeep price is 3000 for six person. You have to go 20 minutes ride in jeep and reach to view point. Must go every one. You can see birds, peacocks, muntjacks, moose around the alley.

After getting there. You have to buy tickets. Then you have to a jeep to the moonplanes. They have jeeps there taking rounds, you have to use one of them. Its 2000 for the ride. Best to go ealry, if you get late you will have to wait a long time to wait for a jeep to take you. We waited for an hour to get a chance. The jeep ride is not comfortable, so get ready to hold on. Open from 7 am to 4 pm. The driver also gives a tour of the surrounding mountains. You can view multiple mountains from this spot including the highest mountain I'm Sri Lanka. Really cool experience You're allowed to stay for about 20 mins up there. After that you come down the trail in the jeep. Its worth it, just get there early so you dont have to waste time waiting for a jeep.

Truly amazing experience with a 360-view over the both Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces. The view point as well as the trail is a pleasing view and you can hire a safari jeep at the entrance. The surrounding is used as a cultivated land for seed farm of department of agriculture. The trail ends at the top most point in the landscape which has a view point. Our safari jeep driver was a pleasant person and he gave a lengthy explaination about the mountain ranges that can be viewed, climate patterns and differences between vegetation in the sabaragamuwa and uva provinces.

Great place to enjoy the nature. 360 degree view at there top and most of the tallest mountains. Jeep ride is worth for the price. If you go early no waiting time for a jeep.

This is an agro-tourism site where you can see and experience the hill country agriculture and also have a chance to witness the spectacular scenery of the mountains at a 360-degree viewpoint if the weather permits. You have to hire a safari jeep to reach that viewpoint. We were charged Rs 3000 for one trip at the time. One jeep can accommodate 6 persons, if you are a couple you can team up with some others before buying tickets so you can share the Jeep fee.

  • 3/5 Marcel B. 2 years ago on Google
Nice view. You have to pay 2000,- rupies for a jeep witch takes you to viewpoint cca 15 min.

  • 2/5 Anjelo P. 2 years ago on Google
This is a ride through a potato farm to a viewing platform. It is NOT a safari. You will see 9/10 of the highest mountain peaks from this viewing platform, but it’s nothing much really. It is over rated. Safari Jeep costs LKR 2000 for a ride & its mandatory. You don’t have an option to hike/walk.

  • 5/5 Govarthanan I. 10 months ago on Google
Just wow. What an amazing place on top of the hillside. You can see all 7 famous huge mountains from that top.

Nice 360° viewpoint surrounding with mountains and valleys. You have to buy a ticket to enter the location. And you have to hire a jeep to go from the entrance to the view point. It will cost LKR 3000. Worth the visit. Try to visit early in the morning, otherwise you have to wait in a queue for the get a jeep.

Moon Plains in Nuwara Eliya is a must-visit natural wonder. This place feels like something out of a dream. Imagine wide-open grassy plains surrounded by misty mountains. The view from the top is jaw-dropping; it's like you're on the edge of the world. The cool breeze and the sense of peace make it a perfect spot to escape the city's hustle and bustle. If you're a nature lover, Moon Plains will leave you in awe with its sheer beauty and tranquility. Don't forget your camera; you'll want to capture every moment of this stunning landscape.

A pretty plane where you can see all the highest mountain peaks from. It has a 360 view. Once you get to the Moonplains, there are jeeps that take you to the viewpoint. It's a bumpy ride but totally worth it.

Moon Plains in Sri Lanka is like a slice of New Zealand. You get awesome 360-degree views of the highest mountains in Sri Lanka. It's Rs. 80 for locals to enter, and the ride is Rs. 3000. It's a thrilling adventure!

One of the best places to visit in Nuwaraeliya. It is very much accessible from the city centre. Views are breathtaking and Safari is not bad either. Facilities can be improved but still one of the amazing place to visit

The place is located very close to Nuwara Eliya Town. We have to hire a safari cab from the parking area to reach the view point. Wonderful potato cultivation landscape. The view is amazing from the view point.

You have to pay Rs.600 for worthless safari truck. Driving your own vehicle is not allowed. I hope it is not worth to take that safari truck 👎👎

  • 5/5 Mahindasiri H. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent view point where you could 360° view without any obstacle. A must visit place. From the vehicle parks, you have to hire a off-road jeep to reach Moonplains and it's LKR 3000/= for max 06 persons.
