I think this was most beautiful destinations I have travelled so far. 3 days spent there. 2 night camping and 39km walk for watch so many beautiful places. This forest is so beautiful. And there is so many leeches in rainy day. So wear leech socks and must have Detol Bottle for remove leeches. They can’t remove others things. Great experience at all.

Named after its uncanny likeness to human knuckles, the Knuckles Mountain Range is a gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular spot for hikers. The dense forest, surrounded by 34 mystical mountains that range from 900 to 2,000 metres, is home to stunning hiking trails. With cascading waterfalls in every clearing, quaint villages hidden amid the mountains, many a terraced rice fields as well as numerous rare and elusive animals, this 234-square-kilometre range displays the best of Sri Lanka’s diverse natural beauty. How to hike the Knuckles Mountain Range The Knuckles Mountain Range is considered one of the toughest hiking trails in the country and is best attempted by those with prior experience in hiking. That being said, no matter how experienced you are, it’s mandatory to have a guide. Besides the area’s vastness and the possibility of getting lost, hikers are only allowed to enter the protected reserve with a qualified guide. Failure to do so will land you in trouble with the authorities. While this hiker’s paradise features as many as 34 trails, finding information on most of them can be difficult. It’s always best to ask your hotel or guide for suggestions. Be sure to let them know what you expect to see; some trails meander through rural villages while others go past waterfalls and lush vegetation.

Knuckles forest reserve is situated in the central hills in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best places that I have traveled. It is a mountain range which consists over 50 peaks. It has so many breath taking views of the mountains and it has many beautiful waterfalls. Visitors; please reduce bringing polythene/plastic to the area and be careful with the wildlife.

The Knuckles Mountain Range also called the Knuckles Massif; a bio-diversity hotspot located in the districts of Kandy and Matale in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Situated at a height of over 3000 ft above sea level, covering a land area of approximately 21 ha it consists of five peaks; namely Kirigalpottha, Gombaniya, Knuckles, Koboneelagala and Dotulugala which form the shape of the knuckles in a clenched fist. The area situated above 1500 m was declared a climatic reserve in 1873 and a conservation forest in 2000, later a National Man & Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site in 2009. It is today considered as one of South Asia’s important sites for the conservation of montane tropical forest habitats.

Gerandi ella is a good adventure place to be visited but it is too risky to climb. When you visit there take a rope with you it will be use full. To climb this mountain you don't need to pay a single rupees to anyone. There are 2 routes to climb the ⛰️, taking the route along the school road is easy to climb. Please ask the villagers there. Once again you don't have to pay single rupees to any one. Its better if you can call and inform the wild life authority before

A Beautiful nature trail. Make sure no rain or fog present at the time of you visit. To take a breathtaking view it shall be a sunny day. Most important tip is when the rain comes, predatory worm know as leeches also will be present. They will attack you nonstop at rainy season. You can make a spray by mixing dettol and coconut oil to apply on your legs to avoid leech bite.

Kehelpathdoruwa mountain is located in Sri Lanka's central highlands, on the eastern edge of the Knuckles Mountain Range. Kehelpathdhoruwa hike is one of the difficult which is 13-15 km to hike till top❀️

Journey with lot of sceneries. Journey is long and bit tough. If it's in a rainy season leaches are going to be everywhere. Better go prepared for them. Travel light. You can find fresh water almost everywhere. So don't carry much. If you plan to go further from Duwili ella better go with a guide. It's easy to get lost of the track.

Amazing experience. It was kinda hard for me to reach to the top but I made it anyways. Many waterfalls, many things to watch. Absolutely loved it. Give it a try and bring more food. You might need them while coming back.
