I've
been
here
a
few
times.
Twenty
years
ago
my
wife
stubbornly
insisted
to
ride
the
tuscker
here
who
carried
the
sacred
relic
at
the
nearby
temple
in
Kandy.
She
was
the
first
female
to
do
so.
So,
it
was
a
sad
surprise
to
see
that
noble
beast
memorialized
here.
Though
he
is
being
treated
with
an
appropriate
degree
of
reverence
here
that
is
properly
instructive
of
the
relationships
the
animals
and
people
of
Sri
Lanka
have.
I
don't
know
how
unique
an
experience
this
elephant
riding
experience
is
from
others
in
Sri
Lanka
but
few
horse
trails
give
you
the
opportunity
to
bathe
and
play
with
your
mount
the
way
you
do
here.
I
believe
any
close
interaction
you
have
with
an
elephant
may
awaken
a
higher
degree
of
respect
for
the
intellect
and
character
these
creatures
have.
Come
here
if
you
want
to
see
that
demonstrated
as
clearly
as
the
love
the
Sri
Lankans
have
for
Elephants.
