Entrance: 600 lkr Small. Interesting a 30-40 minutes visit. Cleaner in the toilet asking for money even though it is written on the wall that it is a free service. He should be replaced by someone honest...

Hidden Gem in Kandy. Overlooked because most people go to the tooth temple but this is really a must see in Kandy. A lot of people don’t understand the history behind this building This building established during Sri Wickrama Rajasingha era was then known as “Palle Vahala” This was used as the palace where the Queens of the king lived. This building has been built according to the architectural features of Kandy period. This pallevahala building was used to deposit the various items of historical value made by Kandy Art Association established in 1832 and technicians of Matale district. This was opened for the public as a museum 1942. This museum has over 5000 museum objects which are depicting various aspects historical and cultural events of the Kandyan period. (17-19 century A.D.) The staff are amazing. We visited during Tourism Day and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Sri Lanka. The staff are amazing. Highly recommended

Was actually very sad for a museum. I thought after reading the reviews it would be decent but I hardly learned anything interesting after reading maybe 4 descriptions of the kings of kandy. They mainly talked about the 17th and 18th century which was great but I was more interested in knowing what life was like before the British Dutch and Portuguese came over. Maybe before wasn't the main point in this museum but...to each is their own.

Visited this museum with kids. We visited by walking to the back of the Kandy temple of Tooth palace along the lake edge. It's a small museum with some 17th to 19th century Kandy kingdom era items. This museum building itself is historic and part of the Kandy palace. The size of walls, doors frames is massive. Next to this museum, is another museum building called "Middle Palace", which was the king and queens bedchambers. It is opened only till 4pm. The museum consists of few large rooms. Took us less than a hour to read descriptions and see the whole.

I only went to the National Museum at Kandy to see what books I could buy. Sadly, they didn't have much choice, particularly those written in English. I had been to the museum before but I must go back there again to explore it . I only took a photo of the Crown of the last Kandyan King. It's disappointing that the King's Throne is in the Colombo Museum rather than where it rightfully belongs.

(Translated by Google) Price 600 rupees, it houses a collection of treasures of traditional Kandy handicrafts: jewelry, fabrics, musical instruments, ivory objects and weapons. perhaps too many 600 rupees. (Original) Prezzo 600 rupie, ospita una collezione di tesori dell'artigianatotradizionale di Kandy: gioielli, tessuti, strumenti musicali, oggetti in avorio e armi. forse troppe le 600 rupie.

It's a typical museum comparing with the International Buddhist Museum in Kandy. There's no body to explain about items which are displayed. It's okay if you are visiting just, but if you are tourist I never recommend to you to go to this place with the ticket price to enter to this place.

The natural history of Sri Lanka is covered by the National Museum of Natural History. The museum is situated closer to Colombo's National Museum. It was founded on September 23, 1986, and it is now Sri Lanka's

I didn't expect much from the museum but was pleasantly surprised. It had interesting artifacts organized sensibly. Apart from a few spelling mistakes in the English descriptions, nothing to complain about!

The entrance fee is 600rp for foreigners. The display in the museum is disappointing. The museum should charge 100rp considering the quality and quantity of it's display.

I have been many times in Kandy in the past 5 years but this is the first time I decided to visit this museum. It was a great experience. Especially because of the very kind and helpful Mrs Swarnapali from the Educational department She was guiding us through the whole building giving us very precise and valuable informations about the collections and the building. Even young Thenu 8 years old was listening very carefully. We learned a lot. Again many thanks to Swarnapali. I highly recommend the Kandy National Museum.

(Translated by Google) Some to watch. Most of it comes from the 16-1900s, I would have liked to see more explanations with text, movies abot the era. The building is impressive (Original) En del att titta på. Det mesta kommer från 16-1900 talet, jag hade gärna sett mer förklaringar med text, movies abot the era. Byggnaden är imponerande

(Translated by Google) We had reserved seats for the performance of the day. On the balcony was a piece of paper in the form of a long ribbon with the name and surname glued to the chairs with tape. Ticket price 1000 Rs ($ 8) lasting a little over an hour. On the ground floor were selling water, sweets, delicious local coffee. The hall with a capacity of 1000 people was more than half full. They all sat down and the drum battle began. Four men appeared, dancing, playing, in the middle of the room by chance from behind the curtains above the 5th, a little late 😂. Then came out 8 girls. The costumes and hats are beautiful. But dances and playing the instruments, in the classical sense, are strange and amateurish. Considering that they perform daily, they must move perfectly and synchronously, and they simply do not even keep their places on the stage, "do not keep a point", it’s easier to say who is in the woods who is firewood. Later there were performances of fakirs and plate tamers, acrobatic jumps, somersaults and dances of men and girls alternately. This is to some extent a circus show rather than a dance show. At the end, they carried out a “large brazier,” invited everyone sitting below to surround him and watched the fakirs pass through the burning coals. From the second floor (balcony) it was not visible because of the people who got up. I would like to note that the acoustics in the lobby were magnificent, the sound of the drums directly gave out vibration in the chest, and the whole district probably heard the tune. To get acquainted with the local cultural heritage is quite tolerable.
