Nittawela tunnel the convieniet tunnel built to shorten the way to Dharmasoka Mawatha and Katugastota. I use this regularly. There is a threewheeler park nearby and the bus halt and travelling to Kandy has been easier thanks to this. One star less because due to the heavy rains these days several slips are there in the nearby road so the road has been narrower

Traveling from Katugastota to Tennekumbura is very useful and you have to drive carefully as this road is narrow.

You need to remove the weeds at the entrance and exit and plant good grass. If you want, you can make it more beautiful by planting flowers.thanks

Amazing architecture... Must see your self before tear it apart..

There are so many potholes on the road after the tunnel and the road is in pretty bad shape for about 150m. They kept on digging it to repair water pipes but haven't fixed them back properly. So Kandy MC pls take note

Tunnel is bit narrow but when you cross the tunnel there are short cuts to aruppola and lewella. Road constructions are going on and road condition is improved a little.

Only one way traffic at any given time. Always give way to vehicles coming out of the tunnel. Otherwise no will be able go.

A narrow, oneway tunnel which doesn't have any means of traffic control. The aggressive drivers (which Sri Lanka is not in short of) force their way in and often creates blocks. Built almost a century ago, there's historical value for the tunnel, however in no way does it serve the modern traffic demands.

Narrow vehicle acces tunnel built by British during their ruiling in the country. The rail track to Matale is running over the tunnel. It is possible to access Aruppola Lewella road throgh the road in this tunnel.
