A dome hill surrounded by scenic palm trees, the Coconut tree hill is a hidden area that has become a popular attraction especially for capturing stunning pictures during the sunset breaking the sky into vibrant colours against the ocean. The palm trees provide plenty of shade to cool you down in the tropical weather. The sunset is absolutely spectacular especially with the view of the Indian Ocean. The picturesque background provides an opportunity to capture the memorable experience. It is undoubtedly the most popular place in Mirissa โ€“ many visitors coming for mostly one reason which is the pictures. It is easily accessible since it only 15 minutes away from the Mirissa Beach. A secluded spot thatโ€™s surrounded by swaying palm trees and the glistening Indian Ocean in the background. To finish of your lovely vacation in Mirissa, it would be a miss if you do not visit this popular hub. The picturesque background provides an opportunity to capture the memorable experience, thus sealing wonderful memories of your stay. The view is spectacular during the sunset with vibrant colours of orange and purple.

Beautiful headland covered in palm trees. You need to access this through a lane way that leads down to a couple of beach bars. You can pass through one of the bars to access the track that will take you up to the headland. If you want to go at sunrise, the beach bars will have their gates shut, so instead you can walk down the same lane way and take a smaller track that follows a fence line up the hill. I would recommend sunrise if you want to get a photo as the sunset was extremely crowded. (We went at both times)

The expanse is good, the blue water on 3 sides with the ridge full of coconut trees. Saw locals come for photo shoots. good place for clicking pictures. Can visit around 4.30-5.00 so that one can stay for the sunset..otherwise it can get very hot during the day.

Fantastic view! A popular place, especially for instagrammers, but still has nice spots to sit and watch the waves and the sunset. I hiked up from the beach, but there is a trail from the road too. The hilltop has lost its vegetation, and you can see several palm trees that have died, but it's still a beautiful area. A must-visit if you are in the Mirissa area.

Coconut Tree Hill Mirissa Coconut Tree Hill is a seriously beautiful place as palm trees rise out of the bare, red earth and you are surrounded on three sides by the Indian Ocean. Because we had seen loads of cool pictures from here we were worried we might be disappointed but this place still managed to knock our socks off. The top of the hill is the perfect place to chill out and watch the world go by. You can see Parrot Rock and Mirissa Beach in the distance while just below the rocks there are surfers and even the occasional turtle popping its head up to see what all the fuss is about. Sunset It has to be rated as our top sunset spot in the area. Watching the golden glow filter through the tops of the palm trees was something pretty special. While the lighting and scenery was absolutely beautiful, it was extremely busy for sunset. By the time the sun went down there must have been 50 people milling about at the top of the hill. As well as enjoying the view from the top of the hill we recommend watching the sun go down from Sunset Bar, where you pass through to reach the hill. Itโ€™s always better to watch the sun go down with a fresh coconut or an ice cold drink in your hand.

Very beautiful place for take photos. The entrance is closed and you have to walk along the footpath along the fence. Parking area is very small. . . The beauty of the garden is marred by concrete posts left to be fenced off or removed

Picturesque spot with numerous palm trees (some of which are in bad shape). Access road can be tricky. Was told sunrise and sunset is nice for photos. Be warned 'influencers' spend ages posing for photos.

A very beautiful place near the turtle beach. Most known for taking photos. But it's so peaceful as well and you can enjoy the beauty of the ocean for hours and just chill there. BTW visiting is free, no ticket needed.

Very magnificent view .secret beach like you are the only one there. We just passed by Mirrisa for half hour to take some great photos at the coconut tree Hill. Although it was a weekend but it wasn't crowded , we enjoyed the view quality.

coconut tree hill Having made its way to almost every travellerโ€™s Instagram profile when they visit Mirissa, the Coconut Tree Hill is a must-do when youโ€™re in Mirissa. The Coconut Tree Hill is a private coconut estate with a nearby temple set on a high cliff overlooking the glistening waters of the Indian Ocean and the untouched stretch of golden beach. Located in proximity to the town, the hill can be accessed throughout the day or night; at no cost. A short, exciting trek from the base to the summit of the hill or โ€˜domeโ€™ takes you about 10 minutes through the coconut estate before youโ€™re left in awe at the most stunning view of Mirissa and its golden coast. The Coconut Tree Hill is definitely one to add to your bucket list in Sri Lanka as itโ€™s the perfect place to watch a bold, island sunset from. The dome shaped hill is picturesque with its towering, symmetrical coconut trees against a blue sky that blends well with the sea, provides the ideal spot for your travel pictures! Sunset chasers should get to the hill inorder to secure the best viewing spot as this famed attraction never sees a day without a visitor!

Great place. Wonderful view, some surfers catching waves, dogs strolling on the beach, people enjoying Sri Lanka. Overall must visit if you are in the area. BUT coming to this hill is kind of complicated. We cave without shoes as we were on the beach so it was slippery and kind of dangerous as it is steep in some of the areas. Entrance to this place is from the beach.

Beautiful place with the attractive sea view. Situated in southern province in Sri Lanka. Coconut trees add more attraction and beautiful to this place. Can experience perfect view in the morning and evening times. Main visiting place of local and foreign people. Best place to get photos. We should protect this place.

The place is hard to spot if you're travelling fast on the galle road l, slow down and look for a small lane leading to the place. Once there, the parking is very limited and the climb up is through a narrow path between a fence which seem to have been put up recently. Indeed a must visit place for nature lovers and has a good scenic spot for those mandatory profile picture change ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… hardly nothing else to do after that ๐Ÿคช

Beautiful contrast: red soil with blue skies and water, of course the palms top up the view. A little uphill walk to get there from the road.

Great view and good for photos and stuff. Nothing special to see when its noon, but the sunset is great to see from here. You can walk from the beach to here also from road. A little hike for about few minutes to go here. You dont need to pay anything to vist here.

Beautiful headland covered in palm trees. You need to access this through a lane way that leads down to a couple of beach bars. If you want to go at sunrise, the beach bars will have their gates shut, so instead you can walk down the same lane way and take a smaller track that follows a fence line up the hill. I would recommend sunrise if you want to get a photo as the sunset was extremely crowded. (We went at both times)

Don't visit. Nothing to see. Don't waste your time. It is a private land. there is no natural beauty to see. All spoiled. No parking.

  • 3/5 Louis L. 11 months ago on Google
It's kind of a strange place. On the one hand we could sit on the slope of the small hill and watch a large turtle swimming from above and enjoy the view. On the other hand, people are constantly flocking to the small hill, taking identical pictures of themselves to share on Insta and then disappearing again. That seems pretty ridiculous. My conclusion: If you drive past here anyway, you can walk there, otherwise there are countless nicer spots on the island that are less used as a stage.

Another beautiful place to the south. You have to go a little further inland from the main road. This place is located on a small hill. Very beautiful sceneries are here.

The place is very nice and quiet but the road is not good. You have to go via a public property. But itโ€™s very safe as there is so many CCTV cameras are there.

  • 4/5 Chamile W. 2 years ago on Google
Popular place in Mirissa for a the amazing views of the ocean. Recent land demarcations has done some visual damage to the place, however you still can capture some good photos avoiding that interference. We were there on a gloomy day morning, views around were not the best. Best would be to go there to catch the sunset to enjoy the stunning views. No proper parking facility is available. Youโ€™ll probably have to park your vehicle by the road on a crowded day. Luckily for us we were the only people visiting the place during that time so we could park close to the place.

  • 4/5 Harish sachin V. 9 months ago on Google
Worth the hype. Visit there early as possible to avoid the crowds. We went there early in the morning. It was calm with a wonderful view of the sea. Keep your belongings with yourselves. There are dogs nearby. The path to this place was very narrow. You could easily get lost. It was a 100 meter away from the main road. Easy to spot. We asked the locals for the way. We were taking photos and people started to come. Some were sunbathing there. Check the weather before you visit.

The typical Instagrammable spot! We enjoyed the short hike up to the hill, saw it at sunset as well as during the day and it was beautiful just like in the pictures! You can also go for a swim with turtles close by.

One of the most scenic beauty near Matara. You can arrive almost there if you have a vehicle with good ground clearance. No worries , you can park your vehicle near the main road and can lead your steps for 1km to the hill. Mornings and Evenings would be more interesting.

  • 5/5 Sandun S. 1 year ago on Google
Very beautiful place at the edge of the ocean. Very scenic place. Surrounded with the bunch of coconut trees. Very photogenic location. Bit unfortunately the land was devided by a fence but still can reach to the location. Bit rough way to go to the location.

Nothing special, a random hill with coconut trees. It's beautiful though but doesn't explain the big hype about it. :) We were there in May, off season, so it was totally empty, which was nice.

  • 4/5 Nelini J. 2 years ago on Google
You can enjoy a beautiful scenery of the ocean among coconut trees if you visit here. Always crowded and path to this place is bit harsh to travel. You have to take a small footpath to reach this place and quite difficult to find.

  • 4/5 gayan s. 2 years ago on Google
Even during weekdays this place is crowded. Have a wait a while if you want to take a good photo. This small cliff has now been fenced by the owner and few guard dogs, people still access this location. Just ignore these dogs or do not care too much, and they would just let you in. Should be good for sunset scenery.
