Was walking with my friend Prasanna in his old neighborhood where he grew up. In need of refreshment, we came upon Urban Bakes & Cafe. Subhani made us feel welcome and suggested that I try the chocolate cake with my coffee. The cake was really special. It literally melted in my mouth. The coffee was very satisfying. The best part was chatting with Razik about his years with Hotel Intercontinental in Saudi and learning about the wisdom he has gathered from his years. The walls are decorated with chalkboards containing wise and witty saying. Prasanna and I were completely charmed. Although not on a main thoroughfare, this shop is definitely worth a visit.

We had breakfast at Sibhani’s place and it was unexpectedly incredible. He is just a lovely person and his home made cakes are simply delicious. Also he prepared for us a delicious coffee 🤩🤩 All the best for you Sibhani!

Urban Cafe is a lovely spot conveniently located right across the road from Mahaweli Reach Hotel. The owner Mr Subhani is super friendly and made a great cup of tea which we enjoyed with savoury and sweet buns. He offered us local tips and advice which was greatly appreciated. Reasonable prices too. His cafe is neat, tidy and cosy. Recommend!

The cakes, assortment, taste, owner, etc are all incredible. A true delight of a place that I found!

We just went there to grab a piece of cake and it was delicious and we tasted all their items. The staff was really welcoming and concerned even small matters. i highly recommend this place for cake and doughnuts lovers

Wonderful place with delicious baked food items. Very courteous gentleman runs the place. Also learned from him that most items are sold at subsidised prices during these pandemic days. Highly recommend the place!!!
