Reasonable rates for Food & occasions(weddings/parties/meetings). Nice spectacular view because of the Kandy lake & Sri Dalada Maligawa..

Good but not better to arrange your wedding if you expect to hit a party. The hall is small and you can use it for a conference or gathering of a small group. Good for a small birthday celebration but parking is very insufficient.

It's hard to give this place a better rating because it's obvious. They may have their own reasons but it's clear that this place needs must done renovations. Simply the place is not made to have functions with a lot of people. The hand wash bawls were served to tables which is totally out of today's standards. There were only two toilet system for men and women and there was a considerable queue to get in as I noticed. I'm not entirely satisfied with the service and I'm not alone there. Almost all the people I talked had the same judgement about the service of this place. It's awful. However, we enjoyed there food. The menu was almost complete with the standard buffet menu of today and it was tasty. Loved the fish curry. I think this place has a budget on it and it's a choice of a mid earning people. They serve good food but the internal environment, facilities and service might not satisfy you. If it happened, just go outside and enjoy the view of the Kandy lake.

Nice place. But not enough space for vehicle park. In side colours not match. Small hall for liquor separate room available in upstairs. Front superb view can see kandy lake and dalada maligawa. . Food creating by Devon.... so its yummy.

This is a great option if you are looking for cheap accommodation in the heart of Kandy. It's right at the beginning of Sangaraja Mawatha, coming in from the city. The Dalada Maligawa is about 200m, and the Kandy City Center is about 100m from the hotel. You can easily walk to these places, avoiding the hassle of looking for transportation. The place is quite old, and it shows. The whole place can do with a good makeover, especially the bathrooms, where certain damages can be seen. However, they are clean on an average level. They have a restaurant, and the prices are quite reasonable. You can also bring in food from outside, and you can request for cutlery. If you are looking for a base camp in Kandy, this is a good place, mainly because of the location and the prices, and a lot of attractions are withing walking distance.

Though the location is very good, unable to recommend rooms for any body who is looking for stay. No cleaning and maintenance at all.

Not recommended to eat their fride rice with devil fish or chicken who considered their health. Its pretty sweet, oily and sticky. Not worth for the price.

Good option for budget accomodate in kandy town, facing the dalada maligawa. But service needs to be more improve. Parking is not spacious when they're having functions at reception hall. Washrooms need to be improve. Food is good. That's the only thing you can give two star.

stayed one night and would never go back again. room was dirty, toilet- disgusting. door lock was broken so anybody could enter the room when we were not there. mould on walls, no window... apart of the big one facing the corridor with people passing by continuously.. so ended up having a curtain shut over it at all times. wifi in this place was a joke.. signal kept being lost every 2minutes- impossible to use internet really. staff does not speak english but this would not be a problem if they were nice.. nothing like that. at 7 am they were moving things round causing unberable noise and generally unpleasant. would not recommend.

Devon Rest is a mid-range budget hotel located within 8 minutes walk to the Sri Dalada Maligawa. It is so close that you hear the sound of the Thewawa. The upper floor rooms have a breath taking view of the Dalada maligawa across the lake. The rooms are comfortably furnished with 3 regular sized beds (in triple rooms), dresser, table and 2 chairs. The bathrooms are clean. Some triple rooms are not with Air Conditioning. but the cool weather and the fan nicely compensates this. The food is good. and also being in the close proximity to the city center, you have many options of eating out from pizza to dosai to Chinese cuisine to Appa, indi appa etc. The Devon Rest highlight for me was the fruit salad in vanilla ice cream they served as dessert :) The staff are very courteous and the whole stay from check-in to check-out was very smooth, safe and nice due to them. Getting to and from the Central Bus stand and the Railway Station is very easy due to the availability of trishaws and bus services.
