The twin falls are also known as “Bambarella Knuckles falls” and have identical lengths of 45 meters. They cascade from both ends of the mountain and flow across the Huluganga River finally ending up in the Mahaweli River. The surrounding area of the falls is filled with wildlife and many types of medicinal plants.

Have you ever noticed the waterfall in hundred rupees in Sri Lanka? Here we go. It is jodu Ella aka twins waterfall. Its located in the Panwila area. The pinned location is correct. But when you are planning to visit this place I recommended to pinned location to “sandun Arana meditation center”. You are unable to reach the waterfall by any kind of vehicle. There is small parking at sandun Arana meditations center. You can park your vehicle there(recommended bikes three-wheel or small cars) and continue your journey along the meditation center. But keep in mind to keep calm and not to disturb anyone in meditating center. There is no need to get permission to visit this place. Around the waterfall is a kingdom of leeches. If the water level is high you can feel the misty condition near the bottom area. Do not recommend to bath cause of the rock condition. Otherwise near the waterfall area isn’t much risky If you want to see the view as per the 100 rupees note I suggest you visit saari Ella too. On the way to saari Ella, you can see the view as mentioned above from distance. Pinned location is headed you to travel bottom of the waterfall There aren’t any shops or pettikada near the waterfall. You should carry everything that you need. But keep in mind, Please be kind to just visit do not destroy the surround by leaving polythene and other things which you carried. Stay safe! Stay Green 🖤🌳 ~𝓝𝓸𝓽𝓮𝓼 𝓯𝓻𝓸𝓶 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓡𝓸𝓪𝓭~

Another beautiful waterfall located in Gomare. This waterfall has featured in the 100 rupees note on SL currency. Its off from the main road. It’s a concrete narrow road not more than 10ft. And also It has steap gradient to climb. Therefore my recommendation is hire a tuk tuk or travel on 4x4 vechicle, but managable in a van. There is a small parking area at the top. The path is through a monetary so maintain your silence. It was about 250m hike with a lot of leeche activity, therefore be prepared. The path is not clear, covered with grass. Follow the waterfall sound then you can find the waterfall.

A beautiful waterfall featured in the 100 rupees note or SL currency. Its off a the main road on a concrete road not more than 10ft. It has steap gradient to climb but managable in a van or a small sadan. There is a small parking area at the top where you can turn and park. The path is through a monetary so decorum is adviced. A 5 minute and 250m hike later you will end up at the walls.

Beautiful waterfall at the foothills of Knuckles Mountain Range. Amount of water flowing through the fall varies significantly with the weather. I have seen the photos of the fall with very little flow. The local guide told us that both falls join with each other during heavy rain. Beware of the leeches when you walk to the fall. The fall is easily accessible from the road. You need to walk about 400/500 meters from the road.

The twin falls of Jodu Ella Falls , also known as ‘Bambarella Knuckles falls’, have identical lengths (45m) and cascade simultaneously from both ends of the mountain into the Mahaweli River via the Hulu Ganga River. The Moragaha River is the source, which springs from Me Malai, part of the Knuckles mountain range. Before reaching the falls, the water flows down seven chutes and through several pools. In the surrounding area medicinal plants abound and there is a wide variety of wildlife including wild boar, porcupine (Ceratophora tennenti) and a lizard endemic to the island known locally as dumbara and katussa. The area at the top of the falls has been denuded, causing concern that the aquifers might dry up and erode the land. The Moragaha River flows across Bambarella, Baddegama and Kosgamma, before reaching the Huluganga River. Jodu Falls is situated in the Patha Dumbara Electorate (Panwila Provincial Division, Thavalatenna GS area). From Wattegama travel the 24km via Bambarella to Panwila. The rest of the journey is not possible by road so trek the last 1km from the border of the Knuckles mountain range to the fall. - Amazing Lanka Such a adventurous hiking through tea estate to reach here. There is no such footpath to the base. Turn to Gomaraya road from Bambarella & climb uphill from Sadun Arana road until you pass nice bridge. From there onward you have to hike through tea estate to reach waterfall base. Overall hike is less than 1km. Beware of leeches. Take only memories, leave only footprints. Highly recommended for waterfall hunters !!!

Jodu Ella is a beautiful waterfall with two separate falls that makes it couple as name suggests. It is better to plan this visit on a dry season as it is really difficult to go to the falls during rainy days. You can even see the falls from the main road.

Jodu(couple) ella is two separate waterfalls falling to parallel each other. Waterfall can be accessed from ‘Gomaraya’ road. There is newly build concrete road in left side of ‘Gomaraya’ road which named ‘Sadun Arana’ Meditation Center. Small vehicle can go through this road until Meditation Center or you can pack your vehicle in main road. There is short walk from Meditation Center to waterfall through tea state.

I had an incredible experience with our travel guide on our journey to Rangala Natural Pool and Lebonan Estate Waterfalls. His Tuk Tuk service was not only convenient but also reasonably priced. His extensive knowledge of the routes and the area ensured a smooth and enjoyable trip. If you're looking for a guide to explore Knuckles or discover enchanting waterfalls like Jodu Ella, Saree Ella, Lebanon Falls, and Hulu Ganga Ella, I highly recommend contacting him at +94 701782296.

You should walk all along a small (muddy road if it is rainy period) from a small village for around 10 minutes. We can go in a bike to that village but the road is too small so cars and other vehicles can go but no safety. No need to buy tickets

Just use the Google Maps to Sandun Arana Meditation Center and then walk about 10 minutes through the meditation center and rubber state and you're good to go.
