A historical structure built by a south Indian businessman belonging to the Nayakkar dynasty in early 1900. The place is a resting place for travellers on the adjacent road. Now, the place stays without much attention in the heart of the Kengalla town and is being ignored most of the times.

Kengalla gal ambalama (Kengalla Resting Place) made by stones. One of only two resting places made by stones. The other one is in Mathara area. Still maintained in excellent condition.

This is in my home town. I have some childhood memories in this place. Those days travellers and beggars used to stay for a short rest in this place. Those days were nice, as small kids we were not afraid to talk to strangers or listen to their life stories. Indeed this Ambalama is ancient and now it's kind of not used by anyone anymore. Life isn't simple anymore like our good old days.

It is a place for visitors. They can live there like a hotel. It was started in Kings' season.
