An unexpectedly beautiful place and you can have a good experience to learn Natural History. Absolutely worth a visit who comes to this area, for example, UNESCO site Tomioka Silk Mill.

All information at each exhibit is in Japanese, except the name of the exhibit which is also written in English. The exhibits are very visual so you can get by without reading Japanese. However, the information provided is very interesting and educational. Same with the interactive media - Japanese only. I can read Japanese so I didn't ask, but it maybe worth asking at the reception if they have an English brochure. Parking is a disaster on a busy day. No parking attendents directing the flow. Elevator is concealed - you have to ask to be brought to it from the lower floor. Its visible and accessible from the upper floor. Good value for money. Kids are free in. The kids enjoyed it and learned a lot. Good rainy day location. It gets excellent reviews, but we've been to many museums in Japan and I found it to be just average.

Small, but has some great dinosaur displays. Great value at 510 yen for adults and kids free. No restaurant so bring food with you (there's a Biesia supermarket a short drive away if you forget ;-)

Surprisingly high quality and had some animatronics too. We're spent about two hours here. No drinks except water fountains inside the building.

This is a really nice Natural History Museum, but it's a ways from Tokyo (a long train ride, and an equally long car ride on top of that...). It's definately worth the trip if you're in the vicinity!

Had a fantastic time and was blown away by everything they had to see. Lots of local plant and wildlife to see! Kids loved it! Will be back!

You can learn the evaluation of the humans and some other animal’s evolution. You have so many things to know about the dinosaurs too. It’s very exciting to see the fossils too.

Can access via local bus, lots of historical material with description in different languages. Visitors can buy tickets in the museum directly.
