Tried Fish curry meals for lunch. It was good and tasty. Spacious and elegant. Biriyani also good. Have to climb stairs to reach the restaurant. Polite staff

That one place in town where you'd definitely run into people you know, that's Thali! One of the oldest restaurants in Kottayam town!! Love the simple ambience! Been here many times when i was a kid to an adult. The food is brilliant here! Dosa, porotta, tea, filer coffee and a lot on the menu! Love their different varieties of dosas! Well, this is a must visit restaurant if you are in Kottayam! It's old and got that charm also!

Unexpectly got a chance to visit this restaurant. Was really such a good experience. Nice ambience and food. If we are prefering the thali meal then we have to visit the restaurant before 1:30.Such a rush hotel in kottayam town for meals.Really recommending.

The place hasn't changed much, except for where needed, since we've been visiting. The atmosphere is cozy, food delicious, service fast and friendly, all reasonably priced in a prime location in the busy city of Kottayam, with it's own free private parking! You just can't ask for more than that. Staple items to order here are the dosas of course, but, as the name suggests, you will never go wrong ordering a traditional Thali meal. Check them out, you will not be disappointed, guaranteed.

This place keeps up to its history of serving the best food. The foods amazing in the morning or noon or evening… The portion of servings are Big and can serve 2 people easily. The staffs are courteous, friendly and attentive. Though there are staffs for certain tables and you inform the other side staff, they make sure it is informed to the dedicated staff and attend the need..👍👍👏👏👏 Way to go and continue the same…

Good enough. But damn hot and sweaty. Food is tasty though. Wish they would do something to make sure that customers feel comfortable while having food. The AC is off due to "COVID Restrictions". Really???? The management should look around before still keeping the AC off.

I am new person to Kottayam, i was trying out food from different place for last two months , this is place where i got the worst biriyani in my life . I recommend for new people no to visit this . and price is also way high with bad service .

Good Kerala meals are available especially non veg Kottayam dishes and parking is also available, adjacent to KK Road. It's a very old and well known hotel for quite sometime.

Went to try their thali but unfortunately, the meals got over by then and tried Fried Rice instead. 1. Mixed Fried Rice - (2/5) It costs Rs 210 and is not worth the price. 2. Veg Fried Rice - (1/5) It costs around Rs160 and didn't meet expectations. 3. Gobi Munchurian - (2/5) It didn't taste any good either. Overall the space is very neat and well maintained. Great staff. Do check the Masala Dosha time it will start only after 5.30pm.

The food here is delicious! Most always packed with people during lunch time. The meals,and especially oonu with variety of curries, thoran and payasam and other side dishes, thali special chicken biriyani are just yum! Spacious enough and service is good too. If I go shopping at Kottayam, my go-to restaurant is Thali.😋👍👍👍

One of the oldest restaurant in Kottayam. Always busy during lunch times but they do serve lunch until 3:30 - 4 pm depending on menu availability. I prefer this place for Kerala delicacies, especially meals with fish curry or fry etc. They also offer other cuisines like North Indian, Chinese and even few international cuisines. Parking for 10-12 cars available in the courtyard, else you have to park on the streets. Adequate seating available be it a small family or large group. Staff is helpful and service is fast. Clean wash areas and toilets. They do accept card payments. They also have accommodation facility, Homestead, in the same premises.

Maybe it's because I came for breakfast, but the chutney and sambar was just average and you can get the same almost about any local restaurant. Plus they just have coconut chutney.

The restaurant is excellent for its 'Thali' meals during lunch. It has limited parking space but sufficient to cater normal crowd, except for the rush hour during lunch. Dishes other than 'Thali' are also good enough. Reasonably priced too.

The chicken dosa is a classic and a must have! I would also highly highly recommend the Kerala Beef Kati Roll as well as the Thali special chicken kati roll, both were absolutely delicious! Service is good and all dishes are extremely pocket-friendly.

It was just a chance visit for a late lunch, i had seen the board for Thali many a time when in Kottayam, but this was the first time, me and my wife decided to give it a try. The food was very tasty, the venue simple but functional, but what stood out was the service by a young waiter. He was so pleasant, helpful, and efficient, talking to him, was honestly really enjoyable, as we spoke about the times during covid and he shared his experience. These are not things that you generally talk to waiters. But what struck me was his pleasant, humorous, and zest for Life. That really made a mark that lunch time. It was quite a pleasant lunch at a first time venue, but now definetly but my last the next time i am in Kottayam for sure. Thank you for a splendid meal, and look forward to coming again.

Thali will always be my favorite since I've been eating here since I was a kid. Masala dosa,ghee roast are their signature dishes. Apart from the dosas i love the Hyderabadi chicken biriyani... cleanliness is one thing I notice in any restaurant when I enter. This restaurant is the best example for professionalism.. always sharp in cleanliness and good manners from the waiters. Thank you team thali for your food and service:)

This place used to be my favorite restaurant in Kottayam. But the last time I visited, the food was disappointing. I've been there couple of times after hoping the food might have gotten better but unfortunately not. It might be the effect of the pandemic but for now I wouldn't recommend.

This is one of the old eateries in Kottayam. I am told that it is over 30 years in business. They also have a lodging facility behind with spacious parking. The lodge is not at the moment function as I was told, I am not sure though. The restaurant itself, small, with old wooden fixtures on the wall, bringing the old traditional architecture into the space. The food was good and tasty. They also have a banquet hall above the restaurant.

Worst experience. We waited for one hour. They shuttle our seats. No one come to take order. They forced us to seat in a dirty table. Atlast someone came to take order after finishing everything in the kitchen. Recommended to people having great great patience

A restaurant in Kottayam that always maintains a standard. We tried chicken biryani and fried rice. There is no such thing as terribly good food, but as I said before, it maintains that standard.

Having seen all the positive reviews we went there today for having lunch and the hotel was full they told to wait for some time and the lady at the bill desk said no tables inside and we waited for some 15 minutes and one of the waiter noticed us and told there were tablss free inside and people who came after us were seated there when i came and asked at the bill desk she told meals is available except potichor and so we waited and after few more. Minutes of waiting again we got a table and after few minuted they told us to ahift table and sit inside and then the table we were seated was also not cleaned then it was cleaned after some time and again we waited and then one person came to take order and said us no meals available just now finished so the thing js the management and supervision is very poor also very less cleaning staff. Food is also very expensive one fish curry meals will cost around 175 rs after wasting of around 45 minutes we went wothout having food as the food they had to offer was fried rice which will again take more time. So never recommend this place as there is no proper parking space also.

We actually had veg meals, chicken fry & chicken roll. It was very nice. Also the payasam was an add on delight to our menu. But a glass of payasam costs 50₹ which thought is a bit too expensive regarding the quantity. We went in the noon & and it was a bit too crowded. But the food was quite good

Listen, if you are a traveler who googled the best restaurants in Kottayam for lunch, this restaurant might pop up and you will see a lot of good reviews. I did the same but it's just below average food served at way above average price. You can get a similar lunch at other small restaurants for less than 80rs. I think they charge Rs. 180 for fish curry meals.

Order a chicken biriyani, it was average, . Lots of space but not managed properly so waiting time was terrible. Not recommended for biriyani.

We ordered hot and sour soup and didnt taste so well .the thali food was good . Mainly the payasam only tasted so well. Chicken biriyani tasted so bad and didnt taste like a proper malabari biriyani. we also ordered neymeen and cheemeen and also tasted very badly🙃

A decent restaurant that will not disappoint you. Haven't found anything specific that is interesting. Parking space is limited as it is shared with the lodging facility which is right behind.

I ordered pothichor, Karimeen fry and Seerfish masala. The pothichor was good but the Karimeen was foul tasting and neymeen was scattered in small pieces within the masala. Thali's quality is deteriorating - they will lose their reputation if this continues.
