Good place for all peoples. People think that , its only for the poor people. It's hygiene place and good food. This is offered by state government. For the welfare of the people.

Amma unavagam initiated by the Late ex.Chief minister of Tamil Nadu Selvi Jayalalitha. Food items are very cheap, when compared to the other vegetarian restaurants in town. Poor people are very much benefited by this Amma Unavagam. Located very close to the main market (சந்தை).

It is kind of a big hall with concrete slabs laid with marbles on 3 corners for people to put their plates and eat from in standing position. First you have to buy the token, Rs.1 for 1 idli, 5 for sambar saadham, 3 for thairu saadham (curd rice). Breakfast time is 7.30 to 8am, lunch time is 12.30 to 1.15pm. The time may vary, because they'll close as soon as the food is sold out. The idli and sambar in the morning is moderately tasty but not bad by any stretch of imagination. Sambar is a bit loose, but contains a lot of vegetables. Noon food is also good, you get good quantity for 5 rupees. Noon food varies, somedays you get lemon rice or tomato rice or tamarind rice instead of sambar saadham. You also get a pickle with lunch, either lemon, mango or some other. Drinking water and two taps and wash basins for washing is available. You need not wash the plates after eating. Staffs are all ladies and service is very good, they are all very loving. For the price they are selling at, the food is excellent to be honest. It is very helpful for people on a budget.
