Tapeshwari Temple is one of the major temples of the Hindus. Tapeshwari Devi Temple is situated at Birbhana Road, Patpur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The temple is one of ancient and famous temples of Kanpur. The Temple is devoted of Goddess Sita. History of Tapeshwari temple dates back to Ramayana period. It is believed that when Lord Rama had banished godess Sita from Ayodhya, then she stayed at Bithoor. The evidence of her stay along with her two sons Luv and Kush, in Bithoor, can be found even today. Mother Sita used to visit this place every day, to perform meditation. The Goddess chose this temple to perform Mundan ceremony of her two sons. Mother Sita with three other women, named Kamala, Vimla and saraswati used to do penance here. For this reason, the temple is called Tapeshwari Temple'. The idols of Kamala, Vimala, Saraswati and Mata Sita are present in this temple. There is a mystery about which idol is of Mother Sita. All the festivals are celebrated in the Tapeshwari temple. On the occasion of Durga Puja and Navratra, a special Puja is organized. After the visit to the mother, people also get their children's head shaved and ears pierced. The temple was renovated in 1960. Every Navratri thousands of devotees visit the temple. The temple is decorated with flowers and lights. The temple's spiritual environment gives peace of mind and heart to the devotees.

Must visit temple for all the devotees who follow and keep fast on the occasion of Navratri. This place will take you back in time and will surely refresh your memory, the time when our parents used to take us to FAIR and enjoyed the food and bought toys and other utility for 🏠 house. Worth visiting

A holy place. Tapeshwari mata temple is the place for worshipping goddess Durga and her different incarnation. It is having deep historical geography hiding beside it's origin. It's highly positive and I love to visit it everyday, it's peace giving. The sound of ghante seems to be so inclusive so positive so great. It just relaxes our mind. The temple although is between a hectic place of birahna road but has a good seating place although no chairs. A group of Ladies always come here with their dholaks and manjeeras playing and reciting holy songs. The temple opens at sharp 5:30 AM, with morning prayers till 12:00 pm(noon prayer) then reopens at 4:00pm with evening prayers and closes with the night prayer at about 9pm. Well by my side u would suggest you to go there and believe me everyone's belief is not worthless I mean they believe the true wishes from heart directly reaches to maa and she listens us. So ask for the wishes, the Durga maa will definitely try to fulfil it. A must go place.

Very over crowded temple of kanpur as i know. In navaratri celebration it takes more time in long queues which is very time consuming but when devotees got Darshan of goddess then they forgot the pain and relaxed. Once i went in the queue and it taken 4 hours to reach final darshan. But that was the mesmerizing experience for me.

Maa Tapeshwari Devi Temple is located at Patkapur on Birhana Road in Kanpur district. Maa Tapeshwari Devi Temple is a major center of faith for childless couples,In this temple, Mata Sita had done the shaving ceremony of Luv-Kush, Tapeshwari Mata had appeared only due to the austerity of Mother Sita.Along with Sita, the other three women had done severe penance here, but which of their idols is which of their idols has not been identified till date.

A quaint sanctuary with a wonderful variety of birds to see during the migration season. The walking path is well built. Places to sit are strewn around liberally. The drive from Kanpur is comfortable. You may want to pack some food for the journey. Be careful not to litter and treat the place responsibly.

Went there in December. It is well maintained and has a decent population of birds, not sure how many of them were migratory and how many were local species. If you are an enthusiast, don't forget to bring along a pair of binoculars and a zoom lens. You can easily cover the entire place within 3-4 hours.

Beautiful, serene and calm place for a day stroll! Loved the ambience.. PS-"Pl note, the adjacent deer park is nice too but do not allow any official/worker to let you get some extra site for the deer to take pics or watevar..the motto of them is to take some addtnl money"

Amazing place for nature lover. It is between Unnao and Lucknow. Best time to visit is mid Dec to Feb last. For photography one must bring his DSLR with Zoom lenses. One must have Binoculars to have a clear picture of Migratory birds.

A very nice place, got to see so many beautiful birds local as well as migratory birds. It is approximately 20kms from unnao and approximately 60kms from Lucknow on National highway 24. It is a recognised Ramsar site. Ideal time to visit is from November to February. Recommend to carry binoculars. Open hours 8am to 5 pm. There is also a Deer park, children park with swings. Ticket cost rs30 for Indian citizens. There are many watch towers for birdwatching.

It's a wonderful place to visit for internal soul happiness. This temple is a stress buster in itself. Prasad Shops are there, their prices are very much normal or at par with nearby market rate. Mainly, Mata Ji's idol is worshipped and certain small temples are also there. Mata Sita ji has prayed here (tapasya) for her kids alongwith three of her friends. Because she had done #TAP (तप) hence it is called तप+ ईश्वरी = तपेश्वरी माता मंदिर

The mandir where Ma Sita Herself visited to perform Puja while in exile. So this is a very venerable mandir. The approach needs to be developed and beautified so it looks welcoming. There are too many electricity wires dangling overhead that spoils the look and the surrounding is unclean. Generally people in Kanpur are unaware and careless about the value of tourism in Kanpur and worse, generally oblivious to the heritage value of the ancient temples and other historical places in Kanpur. The tourism circuit is poorly designed. The city is unclean and littered.
