Green Park Stadium is an international standards cricket stadium of Kanpur, India. Its seating capacity is 32,000 seats. It is the home ground of Uttar Pradesh Cricket team. India's first Test win over Australia in December 1959 was at the Green Park ground. This was also the first match to be played on a turf wicket here. Since 1957 India has lost only twice at Kanpur, both times to the West Indies, in 1958 and again in 1983. This arena is an International Test match venue. Green Park is under the control of the Sports Department Uttar Pradesh. It has hosted international cricket matches in both of Test and ODI format. The stadium hosted the 500th test played by the Indian team. It also organized four Vivo IPL matches, on 19 and 21 May 2016 and 10 and 13 May 2017. As of 19 August 2017 it has hosted 22 Tests, 14 ODIs and 1 T20I. It is situated near the river Ganges.. The stadium was named after a British woman named 'Green' who used to go horse riding there, and is nicknamed 'Billiards Table' and also 'Woolmer's turf', after the late cricket coach and player Bob Woolmer who was born in McRobert Hospital opposite to the stadium.

The Green Park Stadium is named after a woman named Green who used to practice horse riding here in the 1940s. It is located in the Civil Lines area in the north east part of Kanpur city near the banks of the river Ganga, which flows just behind the stadium. It is the only stadium in India where a student gallery is available. Green Park has the largest manually operated scoreboard in the world. It also has video screens that are used during international matches. India's first Test win over Australia in December 1959 was at the Green Park ground. This was also the first match to be played on a turf wicket here. Since 1957 India has lost only twice at Kanpur, both times to the westindies, in 1958 and again in 1983.

My experience was Good because I visit there for Corona Vaccination 1st Dose. Arrangements are good for Sitting and all. No arrangements for water for drink. So this I think so odd. Rest if you want to visit for only enjoyment during Match then it's so good. Because ground is well maintained by their ground staff.

This is the best and most famous playground of Kanpur. International Cricket matches are held here and it has one of the best pitches in the world.Green Park Stadium is a 32,000 capacity floodlit multi-purpose stadium located in Kanpur, India, and the Uttar Pradesh cricket team. The stadium is under the control of the Sports Department Uttar Pradesh. It is the only international cricket stadium in Uttar Pradesh that has regularly hosted international cricket matches in both Test and One Day format.. It also organized four Vivo IPL matches. For long not too many fixtures were held here, until the local cricket association prepared a ground fit for international cricket. And if the eyes and lungs can adapt and overcome the thick smog that pervades the city, the pitch is a batsmen's paradise.

It was pride of Kanpur city, it's sad that it's maintenance is not up to the mark. Broken chairs filled with a thick layer of dust, rusty broken railings, messy walls and floors without a proper paint job. Only the VIP lounge is maintained properly...shows the resolve of the authorities involved in maintaining the prestigious stadium. It is currently operating as a mega vaccine center with pathetic facilities and improper system. I will advise you to bring a bottle of water as there is no water facility.

The famous cricket stadium of Kanpur. I have watched several cricket matches here and one thing they need to improve is how the entrances are managed and the seats. They need to manage it better. Apart from that, its a really nice place.

One of the oldest international cricket stadium in the country. It has hosted and witnessed historical cricket matches. Very good parking space and well connected through road transport. All well positioned goverment officials live near by. Kids use to come here for coaching. Overall good stadium but it needs maintenance now and officials should look into it.
