A great piece of Art...which remained ignored for long, now managed by ASI. Situated on the main highway when you head towards Orai from Kalpi. Open on all days...no entry fee. Inside there are two graves/sarcophagi inside the central chamber..which is symmetricaly surrounded by dozens of open gates. The central hall is open roof..which is circular. Its a great piece of architecture. Had it been in some big city...it would be having a distinct identity. Must visit..

Magnificent and beautiful Islamic structure. Built in Kalpi (3km outside the city), Chaurasi Gumbad (84 domes) is a square nine domed structure in a walled courtyard with two graves under central dome. The probable date assigned to this gumbad late 15th or early 16th century. This Islamic architecture is believed to be a tomb of Lodi Shah Sultan. It has 84 door arches. Each wall is engraved with old Islamic Designs. One can find this place ultimate calm. It is colder than usual in summer. Indian government is taking care it as most of the designs were destroyed and degraded.

When traveling from Jhansi to Kanpur via NH27, you can spend some minutes to visit this tomb site from Lodi era. It's a beautiful complex with multiple graves and domes. Central dome is damaged.

A peaceful, beautiful, historically significant place- the tomb of Lodhishah Badshah popularly known as Chaurasi Gumbaj because of its architecture of 84 domes. The tomb was built about 500 years back under the rule of Lodhi dynasty. The tomb is on the jhansi-kanpur route. It's a must visit place for people passing by the route.

Shameful ignorance about this site is that it was an incomplete architecture replaced by demolishing a huge Hindu temple. Invaders tried to mutilate into something grand but failed to implement their design. Martyred King Chandra Dev Lodha was last ruler of Kalapriya (Kalpi). In order to escape from of the Invading Muhamad shah Queen Prabhavati with other six wives of the King performed Johar . We remember the cruel invaders, because they brought in much destruction to our India.

The place is so quiet required to be maintained a bit more by the authority. Atleast a garden can be maintained in it's surrounding so that local people can also come .

This Islamic architecture is believed to be a tomb of one of the Lodi Sultan. It has 84 door arches. Built of blocks of rubble the whole building is divided into square spaces as in a chessboard, by eight lines of pillars that are linked by arches and topped by a flat roof. The building has a dome of a height of 60 feet. Jaunpuri motifs can be seen in the wall of the Gumbad. It is located to the west of old Kalpi along with NH 25 towards Orai. This monument is a royal tomb from Medieval times (of Lodhi Sultans). Very peaceful atmosphere, one should really visit to see the best example of ancient architecture.
