Exploring Madhya Pradesh at orchha..... at Raja ram mandir..... a place where Ram is worshipped as King...... The Ram Raja Temple is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage & receives devotees in large numbers regularly and is also commonly known as Orchha Temple. The annual domestic tourist number is around 650,000 and the foreign tourist number is around 25,000. In India this is the only temple where God Rama is worshiped as a king and that too in a palace. A Guard of Honour is held every day, police personnel have been designated as Guards at the temple, much in the manner of a king. Armed salutation is provided to God Ram every day. In the temple Raja Ram is accompanied by Sita , brother Lakshmana Maharaj Sugriva and Narsingh Bhagwan . Durga Maa is also present in the darbaar on the right side. Hanuman ji and Jambavan ji are praying just below Sita. The speciality of this temple is that God Ram has a sword in his right hand and a shield in the other. Shri Ram is sitting in Padmasan, with the left leg crossed over the right thigh. Story behind this....... The King of Orchha Madhukar Shah Ju Dev (1554) was a devotee of Banke Bhihari of Brindavan while his wife Queen Ganesh Kunwari was a devotee of Ram. One day the King and the Queen (गणेश कुंवरि) went to God Krishna's temple but the temple had closed by that time. The queen urged the king to go back but the king wanted to stay. So both the king and queen decided to stay back. They joined a group of devotees who were singing and dancing in praise of God Krishna outside the temple. The king and queen also joined in the prayers and started to sing and dance. It is believed that God Krishna and Radha personified and danced with them and golden flowers were showered from the heavens at that moment. After that incident the king asked the queen to accompany him to Braj-Mathura the land of God Krishna, but the queen wanted to go to Ayodhya. The king got annoyed and told the queen to stop praying child form of God Ram and accompany him to Braj. But the queen was adamant, after which the king said that "You keep praying to Ram but Ram never appears in front of us, unlike God Krishna who danced with us along with Radha the other day. If you are so adamant to go to Ayodhya then go, but return only when you have the child form of Ram with you. Only then will I accept your true devotion." The queen took a vow that she would go to Ayodhya and return with the child form of Ram or else she would drown herself in Ayodhya's Sarayu river. The queen left the palace and started the long journey to Ayodhya on foot to bring God Ram with her to Orchha. She didn't tell the King before leaving that she had ordered her servants to start building a temple (Chaturbhuj Temple) when she brings God Ram with her. On reaching Ayodhya, the Queen started praying to God Ram close to Laxman Fort near Sarayu river. She ate only fruits, then she gave up fruits and ate only leaves, and eventually she gave up all food. The Queen fasted and prayed for about a month but God Ram did not appear, so eventually in despair, she jumped into the river at midnight. Just then something magical happened and God Ram appeared in child form in the Queen's lap God Ram told the queen that he was happy with her prayers and she could ask for a boon, at which the queen asked God Ram to come with her in child form to Orchha. God Ram agreed to go but he put forth three conditions: "I will travel only in Pukh Nakshatra. When Pukh Nakshatra will end I will stop and resume only when Pukh Nakshatra sets in again. In this manner I will travel from Ayodhya to Orchha on foot along with a group of sages. Secondly, once I reach Orchha, I will be the King of Orchha and not your husband. Thirdly,(since the child form of Ram would travel in the queen’s lap), the first place you seat me will be my final place of stay and will be famous by the name of Ramraj. The Queen agreed and started her journey to Orchha with baby Ram in her lap.Since the queen travelled only in Pukh Nakshtra it took 8 months & 27 days for the queen to reach Orchha from Ayodhya.

stands as a testament to the town's rich cultural heritage and unwavering devotion to Lord Rama. This unique temple, unlike any other, enshrines Lord Rama not as a deity but as a benevolent king, Raja Ram. Its unconventional architecture and captivating aura have made it a pilgrimage site for devout Hindus and a popular tourist destination. The Ramraja Temple deviates from the traditional Hindu temple architecture, showcasing a blend of Mughal and Rajput styles. Its imposing structure, adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant colors, exudes an aura of grandeur and majesty. The temple's sanctum sanctorum, adorned with gold and silver, houses the revered idol of Raja Ram, depicted as a regal king seated on a throne. This unique portrayal of Lord Rama sets the temple apart from other Rama shrines.

A weekend day out for the people in Jhansi under the blessings of Lord Rama. This temple is internationally recognised and devotees form all over the world come here to take blessings from the God 🙏. People have an exclaimed faith in this temple, all their unfinished works are happily finished just by a single visit to the temple with all their devotion. The Mandir is adjoined by the river Betwa which is a tributary to river Ganga. This river has its own significance. The place is highly recommended with an overall ratings of 5 our of 5.

Orchha, an UNESCO world heritage city as well as india's best heritage city for 2017-2018, is more than these tags and title. Sitting on the river bank of betwa and watching rising sun, standing on the age old balcony of jahangir mahal and thinking of the glorious and lively past of this palace and listening story of raja ram and queen ganesh kunwari from the locals, are the priceless experience which you can only have when you visit orchha. Best time to visit orchha:- sept to march this is one of the places in india where you have religion, history, nature and adventure all at one place. In adventure sports you have options like river rafting and jungle treking. #hindustankadildekho

The historic Ram Raja Temple is one of the beautiful temples of Shri ram 😁 As per the old stories , the chaturbhuj temple was build by rani for raja ram but when she put his murti in her palace , he established there only and thus he lives as raja of orcha in the queen palace only. The temple is very beautiful and clean along with the very unique chaturbhuj mandir nearby. The gateway of temple is also very beautiful. The mandir is situated on the bank of Betwa river. Food stalls nearby mandir serve very tasty breakfast in affordable prices. Must visit here atleast for once with whole family kids or even friends also. 😁

Orjha has few historic places to visit, Raja Ram Drabar (6.30 PM to 10:00 PM IST) , Chaturbhuj Mandir (9:00 AM to 5:30 PM IST), Rani Mahal, Hardaul Baba Mandir, Sawan-Bhadau Stambh must be visited. There are various Dharmashala Guest houses and Home stays nearby one can opt to stay overnight. In Chaturbhuj mandir the priest has book (₹50) which has stories about Orjha and its temples. One must go with enough time in hand to visit and know all the places. Another place to visit nearby is Peetambra Devi temple (Shakti Peeth) in Datiya (about 50 Km by road).

The Ram Raja Temple  temple in orccha, madhya pradesh,  is a sacred HINDU pilgrimage and receives devotees in large numbers regularly and is also commonly known as Orchha Temple. The annual domestic tourist number is around 650,000 and the foreign tourist number is around 25,000. The daily number of visitors to the temple range from 1500 to 3000 and on certain important HINDU festivals like the makar sankranti, vasant panchmi, shiv ratri, ram navmi, kartik purnima and vivah panchmi the number of devotees who throng to Orchha range in thousands. In India this is the only temple where bhagvan Ram is worshiped as a king and that too in a palace. A Guard of Honour is held everyday, police personnel have been designated as Guards at the temple, much in the manner of a king. The food and other amenities provided to the deity at the temple are a royal repast. Armed salutation is provided to Lord Ram every day. It is built by MAHARAJA MADHUKAR SHAH JU DEV ji. Shri Ram is sitting in Padmasan (lotus position ), with only left leg crossed over the right thigh though (both legs are not crossed unlike in the usual Padmasan). Every day after worship sandalwood's teeka is applied on Lord Ram's left toe. It is believed when visiting the Raja Ram Darbaar if worshippers look at the left foot's big toe then their wish gets fulfilled. Spotting the left foot's big toe on Lord Ram's idol is not easy, one should not look down since the left leg is folded, instead one should look close to Lord Ram's right hand. The temple priest can also help in spotting the toe.

Place where God Ram is a King in everyway. This is a unique temple with a very beautiful legend story. In main shrine Ram is with wife Sita, brother Lakshman and Hanuman . Along with are Sugreeva ( Monkey King), Jambwant ( Intelligent Bear of Monkey army) and Narasimha ( Human Lion God). Temple is old but not looks old. It's just adjacent to one more temple which looks old and is an architectural marvel. This temple was actually built for Deities and main temple..but Deiteies never moved there...literally. Temple has a strictly no picture inside policy. Outside there are numerous sweet shops selling Kalakand ( condensed milk cake) and Pera (milk sweet ) which are offered to God . Temple is generally closed during afternoon 1 pm to late evening 7 pm. You can go normally in queue or get coupon from temple office counter for special no queue Darshans. Also you get paid coupons for Prasad and Food already offered to Deity. This place is very near to river called Betwa where you can enjoy boating and river rafting.

The story of Ram Raja Temple according to many local people goes like this: The King of Orchha Madhukar Shah Ju Dev (1554 to 1592) (मधुकर शाह जू देव) was a devotee of Banke Bhihari (God Krishna) of Brindavan while his wife Queen Ganesh Kunwari (गणेश कुंवरि), also called Kamla Devi, was a devotee of God Ram.

This temple has an amazing architecture. The entire temple-fort complex takes 4-5 hours to explore and soak the medieval glory. The high point is reached when the aarti starts at 8pm. If you are a devotee you will be immersed in the mass show of passion to the lord. Photography is not allowed inside the temple. The surroundings are just like any other holy place- full of hawkers and priests trying to lure you.

Orchha is famous for its grand palaces and temples and the care of all this heritage is the responsibility of Madhya Pradesh Archeology Department. Raja Ram Temple is famous in the entire Hindu world. The king of Orchha is Ram and the royal family has been fulfilling their responsibilities as his servants.  This temple is very special among the tourists and visitors. Queen Ganesh Kunwari wanted to install the idol of Lord Ram in Chaturbhuj Temple, but due to the Mughal attack on the western part of Bundelkhand, the construction work of the temple could not be completed. Many legends are also associated with this temple. Actually this was the royal palace where the king and queen Ganesh Kunari Bai lived. When the Queen reached Orchha from Ayodhya with the idol of Lord Ram, the work of the Chaturbhuj temple could not be completed, hence the idol of Lord Ram was consecrated in the kitchen of the palace, which is still present at the same place. Photography inside the temple is strictly prohibited and people of classes can visit this temple. It remains open till last Arti offered after Sunset. The enthusiasm of all the devotees coming to this temple is palpable and happiness is visible on their faces after the darshan. No doubt it's a chief attraction of Orchha.

This beautiful Ram temple has an intriguing history behind it. The Idols which were supposed to be installed in the magnificent Chaturbhuj Temple were kept on the ground where this temple now stands. But once kept on the ground, the idols could not be budged. This marked the place holy and a temple was constructed where the idols were kept. Ram Raja Temple has a serene architecture, adorned with a marble courtyard and colourful walls.

This is one of the best temples I've visited in my life. Nowadays most of the temples are commercialized and one will observe that multiple businesses run inside the temple premise. In this temple they also run business but not at the level that others do. The temple is at a walkable distance from bus stand and all the major attraction spots are located nearby to this temple in the range of 1-3 KMS. Thats why here you'll get the vibes that nowadays cannot be found easily. I went to the temple on the weekend at evening time. It took me around 30-50 minutes to visit the temple fully. Inside the main temple premise there are small temples present as well.

Located In Orchha, Shri Ram Raja Mandir is on of the finest temple to visit. So many easiest way to reach, The nearest airport is in Gwalior which is approx 125-130km apart, ideally 2 hrs way from Cab. The nearest railway station is in Jhanshi which is probably a distance in 15-20km approx. On entry gate, so many prashad house & other sweet & snacks centre with lots of yummy Indian dishes ie #PoorieGhar #Chathouses etc. Inside premises, On left side #HardolArchitectures are located which include Towers, Vatika & temple. On right side, Chaturbhuj temple is located. Post main entry, you'll be checked & lines would be separated ie divide into 2 parts so that it may be easy for all to see Shri Ramlala main mandir darshan. Remember that mobiles are strictly prohibited, hence refrain yourself to take pics of main darshan point statues. Inside premises, lots of mini mandirs are also located. No matter how crowd it's, you will get lots of peace. Highly recommended to visit here. Nearby 0.5Km Betwa river ghat is also there. #RamLala #RamRajaSarkar #Orchha #MustVisit

Jai Shri Raja Ram , one of best moment of 2020. Feel fortunate to get opportunity to visit this beautiful & iconic Mandir. Feel blessed and love every bit of it. One suggestions for all visitors no need to do darshan booking & spent 150 INR for per person. It is free and you can easily get darshan of Raja Ram. Must visit place, nice management. Once Again Jai Shri Raja Ram 🙏🙏🙏🙏

This temple has a unique story Orchha is the only place where he is worshipped as the Divine Ruler, the Divine King The idol is ancient and made of black stone! The aura is amazing Many idols are now kept inside, adjacent to his chamber! Our guide informed us that they have been relocated from the temples scattered outside for better security and preservation

    (Translated by Google) Jai is famous by the name of Ayodhya of Bundelkhand. Many idols of Ram Janaki are built in the temple.The temples are very old which were built during the time of King Jujhar Singh. It is the only temple in the world where Lord Rama is worshiped as a king.

The Ram Raja Temple is a temple in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage and receives devotees in large numbers regularly and is also commonly known as Orchha Temple. The annual domestic tourist number is around 650,000 and the foreign tourist number is around 25,000. The daily number of visitors to the temple range from 1500 to 3000 and on certain important Hindu festivals like the Makar Sankranti, Vasant Panchami, Shivratri, Ram Navami, Kartik Purnima and Vivaha Panchami the number of devotees who throng to Orchha range in thousands. In India this is the only temple where Lord Rama is worshiped as a king and that too in a palace. A Guard of Honour is held everyday, police personnel have been designated as Guards at the temple, much in the manner of a king. The food and other amenities provided to the deity at the temple are a royal repast. Armed salutation is provided to Lord Ram every day.
