😠 The camping is awful at Smithville Lake, we go here all the time and don't want anyone else to go. Because then it would be busy. So don't go. They *DON'T* have really nice campground, and they *DON'T* have easy access or great bathrooms, they *DON'T* have beautiful paved trails for biking or walki... People often mention lake,

The camping is awful at Smithville Lake, we go here all the time and don't want anyone else to go. Because then it would be busy. So don't go. They *DON'T* have really nice campground, and they *DON'T* have easy access or great bathrooms, they *DON'T* have beautiful paved trails for biking or walking, they *DON'T* have a great lake to paddle board or hang out on a beach. So yeah... Don't go. It's *AWFUL*.

No e organized campground with beautiful views of the lake and the starry night sky. The bike trails offer a leisurely spin with plenty of shade. The park staff are friendly and the sights are well maintained. A nice weekend getaway just 30 minutes outside of North KC

Smithville lake is a nice day trip or overnight camping trip. About 30-45 mins from downtown KC. There are paved trails for walking/running/biking, boat launches, playgrounds, bathroom facilities, and lots of camping spot. The biggest downside is the lack of beaches to access the water (at least on the side we were).

Had a blast on the bike trails but was surprised at the constant gunfire heard (for nearly an hour). This is really a great place. Too bad the trails are in such rough shape.

Smithville lake is a beautiful place for picnics, family gatherings, boating, and swimming. There is also a campground and RV parking area. It is a state park so $6 per vehicle day pass or $50 annual pass. The water is perfectly warm to cool starting early to mid spring and near perfect for family swimming as the depth grades very slowly (less worry about little ones). Afterward you can go get some good ice cream from at Captains Corner.

Great shelter, except no breeze. But we did have shade and a spiket. Should have a drive of some kind to the shelter.

Great campground. Hot and clean showers. Place gets pretty packed on the weekends.. Lots of fun activities. Go out and enjoy this man made lake

Always have an amazing experience at Smithville Lake! The friendliest lake out there. The couple of times we had boat trouble and had the back hatch up, tons of people stopped to offer help.

Pretty flat, paved hiking trail. Very scenic. Bathrooms at the trailheads. More bikers than hikers so stay to the side so as not to cause problems.

Marina was very nice. Attendant was very helpful. Good day for fishing.

If I could I would put no stars here. We had to cancel our camping due to health issues. No refund on a 4 night stay. I am willing to pay for the first night or a cancellation fee like every other campground we have ever stayed at. We have been camping for over 50 years. Campers beware if you cancel, they will rip you off. This is a Clay county policy.

Very fun! I come here almost every summer and swim my heart out with my family friends! Definitely somewhere to go with the family!

Definitely blessed to have such a beautiful lake in our back yard. It is mostly maintained very well. Wishing there were more trash cans around the entire lake so people could use them instead of leaving stuff behind. It's not difficult to take in what you take out maybe trash cans would encourage good behavior. Lol Anyway fishing is great here regardless. First time for me actual catching crappie with no help! 💝
