One of my favorite places in KC! Lots of games, lots of beer and even though it can be crazy busy at night it has still provided me several hours of entertainment. (Also the pizza is fantastic!)

I really enjoy Up-Down. The beer choices are varied and periodically change. The best though is the collection of pinball machines that you can play for a single token per game. My favorite tables are Stern Deadpool because it is so funny and easy to play and Stern KISS. "You Wanted the Best! You Got the Best! The Hottest Band in the World!" and an equally great machine.

What a cool throwback playing these pinball, arcade games and skeeball. Fantastic selection of beers and everything was affordable and such a cool atmosphere.

Good place to have fun with friends! My favorite is Pinball and 5P Pac-Man. 4 stars just because some of the machines didn’t work right or at all. They have decent pizza if you are hungry and pretty good choice of drinks. And I’m waiting for the weather to warm up a little bit so we can play that Huge Jenga!

I played skee ball and basketball. I played the Simpsons. I got further on the game playing as Bart instead of Marg. It was just ok. The bar is affordable. The staff is so friendly. I don't drink so I got bored easily. I based the rating off of there wasn't alot of fun games to play

Such a fun place. Tokens are cheap and they have plenty of deals on drinks! They have soft drinks as well. Definitely will be coming often. Friendly staff as well!

Great concept. Pretty small building for as many games as they have to offer.

Always fun, server stopped by our table a few times, most people utilize the bar between games, which is well-staffed and the choice of beers is robust. Pizza was extra salty on my last visit, but on other visits it's been good. The veggie option is nice. Slices come out fast and hot.

Nice beer selection and wide range of classic video games and a few pinball machines. Also have skee ball. Their outside patio get a lot of use when the weather is good. Here’s a few pics of some of my favorite harder-to-find 80s video games:

The most fun I’ve ever had at a bar. Only paid $31 for 2 beers and 2 cocktails which for me is a fantastic deal. It was busy but we still found some games to play. I was impressed how EVERY game was working! I can’t wait to come back.

I always have a good time when I come here. It has some of my favorite arcade games to play as well as great drinks and pizza. Totally meant to snap some pics to post with this short review, but I was enjoying myself and not paying attention to my phone.

The vibes here are immaculate. Came around 5 PM on a Saturday (in the Winter) and it was PACKED. Get here early! Tokens are pretty cheap, drinks are tasty, staff is great. Might have to wait to play games, otherwise it’s pretty chill in here. Definitely coming back for patio season :)

Beer, pinball and classic arcade games. What more do you need!? Nice collection of classic games and relevant pinball machines. Everything is generally in good repair. Huge selection of beer and some reasonably priced food.

Fun atmosphere. But after dark it gets crazy busy. Love the rooftop patio and bar. Could spend a lot of time here. I loved so many of the classic arcade games they had available. Parking is a bit interesting to sort out. Love the proximity to power and light. Will be back.

It's really fun and full of nostalgia for those who remember arcades. There is never much of a wait at the bar for drinks and the pizza🍕 is always tasty. Of course, it helps when you have been drinking a little already, but I'm sure it tastes just fine sober 😆

This place sure brings back memories of my childhood. It was fun to play games with my bf and friends that I haven't played in decades. The pizza looked really good. The first barentender did not know how to make a mocktail. The second one tried but my fault for not being specific. The photo booth was really fun.

Fun spot! As expected with a lot of old arcade machines, some need some service that are still taking coins. We had a good few that the joysticks barely worked on. This is understandable though. Also, watch your drinks! If you look away for two seconds, your fresh overpriced drink that you just bought may suddenly disappear! The staff sweep and take drinks that aren’t at machines, so if you’re a machine over you may be out a drink.

My family and I made a fun Sunday night trip out now that the whole bunch is 21 and over and had a great time.. Sundays host a 6 beer with 80 tokens in a fanny pack for $25 deal which was perfect for us . We played all of our classic favorite games and enjoyed really great pizza (huge slices of pizza) This is definitely a fun night out .

The cost to play the arcade games are unbeatable and they have such a huge variety that will make you nostalgic and giddy. We have been working off one fanny pack of coins for the past 3 visits and still have some left! Usually really busy and hard to get on any of the good games on weekends, but if you're patient and don't mind just lingering sometimes, it's not bad. Weekdays are best for heavy gaming purposes. The pizza shack in the back has great pizza by the slice and is always fresh!

Came in to buy my son a drink for his birthday not planning to stay as he was on a date. First at the door I was carded which I don't mind, what I did mind was my license being scanned. This is the age of ID theft, just look at my ID. There's no need to scan my ID. The bartender barely spoke 2 words to me when taking my drink order, then just took my card without telling me how much I was being charged, swiped it and handed it back. Sure hope I don't see a massive charge. This was my first experience at Up Down and it is definitely my last. The sad thing is I love arcade games and had planned to come back, also as an active Uber driver, I will no longer recommend the place to my passengers.

Visited from out of town and had a blast!! Went twice while I was in town and on one of the days received free tokens!! Fun selection of nostalgic games to play alone or with friends. Small upstairs area with mostly pinball machines and a few more arcade games. All of the drinks were great and very reasonably priced. Food options are available and the place has a very laid back vibe.

There’s an up down near where we live and it’s a little bigger than this one but this one still maintains that nice vibe and they have lots of fun things to do. It was very nice to spend a few hours here playing arcades. The Thursday coin special is amazing if you’re mostly here for the games

Classic old school games!!! Me and some friends had a great Saturday afternoon at Up Down. Service is good, ski ball is the best. Had a great MK2 battle with a friend. Really brought back the memories. Drink prices were good. I wish more cities had a place like up down KC!

Perfect place for a few drinks and to chill for an evening. Loads of arcade games to play this is a really fun bar with huge slices of pizza and other foods served until late.

  • 5/5 Jess E. 5 months ago on Google
Great drinks! Overall, a lot of fun! Definitely appreciated the free tokens that we received as a part of the daily special. $2 pizza on Fridays until 8pm! And the slices were huge and delicious!

Good selection of classic arcade games and pinball machines. Some of the controllers are worn out (for example on Donkey Kong). Game play cost is very reasonable and they have a good selection of beers on tap. Overall a great atmospheric and a fun time, especially for fans of the 80s gaming experience.

Great place to grab good drinks and enjoy classic arcade games. The drinks were reasonably priced and I spent less on drinks than I have at any other bar. You may occasionally run into the issue of people staying on one cabinet for long periods of time, though. Also, I would be careful with the Punch-Out! game, as it ate my tokens without letting me play. Other than that, it's a great place.

We rented out this place for a company event. Our team had a great time. Kaitlyn was amazing to work with. The pizzas were great! They had so many fun games to play. It was a huge hit with my staff!

Great place to go for drinks and playing vintage games. Pizza is good! Games work. Downside how crowded it gets to walk through the bar on the weekends.

Fun fun. Gets a little crowded when the Sun Goes Down. Then it is more about drinks then games. They have a very good pinball selection. The tables are all in good working condition but the lights on the upstairs tables are so low that it is hard for me to pick up the ball. There is zero overhead or radiant lighting from anywhere so a shiny ball coming out of a flashy light up background is super hard to pick up. But I am visually impaired but I've never noticed this sort of effect before just being blind in one eye. Anyway I think they could use a little light but good times. Would recommend

Had a great time playing all of the old school games. They even had my favorite one from when I was a kid, Area 51/Maximum Force. Loved playing it. Plus they have a good selection of pinball and other games as well. It does get crowded, but when you have a good atmosphere like that, you expect it. The bartenders that I ordered from were very nice and got everyone's drinks taken care of quickly even though they were busy. I went for a bachelor party and they did not disappoint. I'll definitely go back.

This is the best bar I've been to in Kansas City. The selection of drinks was amazing, in one night I had the Pineapple Cider, the Apple Cider, the Blueberry Pie beer, the Pumpkin Spice Beer, and the Cream Brulee Beer. I went on a Thursday when tokens are 10¢ a pop and for 5$ you can pretty much play all the games you want (and unlike other arcade bars I've been too, all of the games worked, none just ate my coins). Also, pizza is like 5$ a slice, and they give you like a quarter of the pizza. I got a slice of the Buffalo Mac and Cheese Pizza and almost didn't finish. I see many return visits in my future.

Super fun bar with tons of arcade games and a great selection of beer. We were fortunate to be one of the first 100 people who came in and got a ton of tokens to use for over an hour of play time. Definitely one of my favorite spots in KCMO, can't wait to come back!

We have Barcade here in Philly and going here felt like home. The game selection is great, the drink selection vast, and the music poppin'!

Great bar, great staff. Hit it on a weekday during COVID before a hint of your old life before the great loss of human interaction snuffed out all. Respectful, distanced, enjoyable atmosphere for a drink on a weeknight in the crossroads. Plus games!

Lots of classic games, fun place to hang out. Great pizza.

Great drinks menu. The games were cheap to play. Packed on the weekends for a reason.

  • 5/5 ANGRY M. 2 years ago on Google
You can't beat $0.25 games!! There's a lot of different types of games, even a Nintendo 64 with Mario Kart. There's Jenga and Connect 4 outside as well. The beers are kind of pricey but I guess that makes up for the cheap games 😂😂 The majority of the staff is very upbeat and friendly which I really appreciate. It's a very welcoming environment that's a lot of fun!!!

Up-Down is a fun arcade with an 80's and 90's theme. There were arcade games including DigDug, Dr. Mario, and PacMan as well as pin all machines and a N64! There is connect 4 as well as Jenga outside too. Lots of entertainment and a great bar to go with it. Masks are required and people were social distancing as best as they could although it is difficult given there's not much room to be able to. There were 80's and 90's movies playing all over the place too. It was a total nostalgic trip and I would definitely go there again!
