I went to sidestreet bar crossdressed for my first time dressed in public after a life of dreaming about it. I was super nervous going out dressed for my first time. Truly wish I had someone to go with me. After the owner answered my question if it was crossdresser friendly I decided to brave it. I could not have felt more comfortable in this bar. Thanks for giving me the courage and making me feel comfortable. I plan on going again.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED OF THIS PLACE! What this establishment did not know is that the three (3) of us who experienced all of this are currently or have been in the industry - in other words - we know whats up. So, if you choose not to heed this and other warnings on here, keep this in mind: 1. Do NOT use your Debit/Credit Cards. Pay as you go with cash. They will double bill your card. We all know what having to deal with financial institutions and reversing charges is like, so just pay with cash. 2. The receipt does not reflect what you ordered. i.e. You ordered a Vodka Tonic your bill says Jack Daniels and coke. Since the shorter, older, bartender was trashed himself presumably from doing shots with regulars, maybe he was pushing wrong buttons. No excuse. They also charged for a shot someone ELSE clearly stated was buying my friend. He (bartender) was beligurent, cranky and intoxicated so: * Pay with cash as you go * When asked for the managers name he relunctantly replied "Mel" so I'm assuming that is who is leaving replys on here as the "owner". 3. "Dive" is not the word. How about total sketch. Scary sketch. If that is what this Mel character refers to as "...leaves the charm of old style bars" - Dude REALLY?!?! Druggies, creepsters and people REALLY FREAKING DRUNK. It does stink and they serve food in all of this. About the only thing decent is the outdoor patio. A place for you to get AWAY from the obnoxious inside.....until a really creepy customer came and sat down at our table and just stared at us. We then got up and had to go deal with the bill issues. Good times. To the owner/manager/whoever - The proper consumer advocacy outlets are being contacted as to your business practices. Drunk employees and foul regulars do not a neighborhood watering hole make either.

Google gave me this establishment as a Coffee Pub pictures of brown cups with maybe coffee call and ask for coffee menu and the gentleman just hung up. So meaning of harm I call back explain he said he's sorry it's a bar that don't sell coffee I said thank you; you could have explained that instead of just hanging up on me.

What a hole. Ernie tries to overcharge for drinks and can't do basic math and remember that you tip him good. If I owned this bar there would be basic business principals in place. It would be rockin making money AND the customers would be happy. And my name is Steve Bleiler - owner contact me my friends and I wanna spend money here, your place should be ROCKIN!

Absolutely unacceptable community space, totally unsafe, disrespectful and humiliating. Dangerous for MTF. Alligns with abusers and dangerous people in the community. Have been drugged here. Have been publically humiliated by staff. They all owe me an apology big time. I hate Sidestreet KC- they betrayed me on every level and I will never ever go there again.

We were visiting from Texas. The bar wasn’t busy but that didn’t matter. It was a very inclusive atmosphere. We had more fun with the small crowd than we could have had with a packed house. The employees were out of this world. The bartender working should teach customer service, he was that good. I wanted to give him a shout out, but the whiskey drained my memory of his name. I also want to thank him for the BBQ restaurant recommendation.

I was really impressed with this place! It had clean restrooms (shocking in a bar!), good prices, and friendly bartender. I was pleased with the bar games and I took a peak at the outdoor patio and it was amazing. Granted we did go on a Tuesday night but you could see how full it could get in the summer months! The only thing I would say is maybe order some better darts otherwise it’s a very nice gay sports bar!

I miss this bar. We always went to play darts. Great place and super friendly. We moved to Lake of the Ozarks. If it wasn't so expensive we might move back.

There is one comment on this bar that is totally irrelevant. This bar is not a cruising bar, it is just a nice bar to come and watch TV, Socialize with Friends, Play Darts, listen to the music or enjoy the outside back patio. If you want a cruising place, try the xxx movie theater or some of the mobile apps to find a trick for the evening. Old or young, male or female, the bartenders and patrons are very friendly.

The best dive in KC. Great staff and customers. Drink prices are nice as well.

LOVE how it feels like walking into a friends home. Have never seen any argument Annie dissatisfied customer always great people playing games darts pool you name it and it's always a good time no problems. Absolutely a 10 definitely. Stop in and see a bartender about ordering your Scentsy warmers and sense they're having a fundraiser and they have a KC Royals warmer from Scentsy and a baseball warmer from Cincy showing behind the bar stop in sometime and they have books that you can look at everything even have samples of the scented wax that you melt in the warmers that you can smell the sea which one you like before you order so go and have fun say hi to your bartender and they will take care of you

There's nearly always a someone down to play a game of pool or darts on one of the 5 boards. On nice nights, I love chilling and chatting with people on the back deck. I'm not sure I've ever sat on a more comfortable patio chair.

This place literally has cameras in their bathroom. Do not come here.

Wow. All I can say is I love this bar! Great service, beautiful, amazing atmosphere...fun!
