We were finally able to get reservations and check this place out during Restaurant Week. The service by Jae was great! He was really on top of things. My husband tried the Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar and said it was good. I had the Black Tie Margarita which was good but nothing special. I had the Filet Migon and my husband tried the Salmon. Both dishes were good. Typically you have to order your side dishes separately which is very different, but with Restaurant Week they served Sam's Potatoes and Creamed Spinach. The potatoes were really good but I was not impressed by the creamed spinach. We both had the Capital Grille Cheesecake which was not anything special either. We did have a great time but was a little disappointed in the food. Maybe we had psyched ourselves up too much before dining here and expected more, not sure. We would definitely come back if we could ever get reservations again!

Came here for lunch and was seated right away! I got the steak frites, rosemary french fries with a French onion soup. It was excellent. Everything tasted great and fresh. The staff were very nice and always kept our waters refilled and the restaurant was nice and clean. Would definitely come back.

The Capital Grill move a few years ago and I believe for the better. Better location , food is better , service is better. I rate them now as one of the best steaks in Kansas City. Rival to Ruth Cris. Try the Steak and Mash potatoes.

We ate here for my husband's birthday and it was great! Service was good and he was fun to our little ones. The food was delicious! My kids had Mac and cheese and they loved it. I got to taste it and it was divine. I had the citrus glazed salmon which could have had more of the flavor present but it was good non the less. My husband had the ribeye I believe and he ordered it medium but it came medium well. Although it wasn't medium it was good and he enjoyed it.

I wish I could give a great review, because I've been to Capital Grille a few times and had great food and service. We don't get to go out often, because life doesn't allow. When we plan to spend the kind of money we do at Capital Grille, we expect the best of everything! Unfortunately, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing. My husband took me here for my 40th birthday, and we watched as the table next to us got A+ service. Not sure why the two of us didn't. I had to ask for a wine list. Had to ask for a refill on water. My steak was burnt on the outside. I ordered it medium rare and it was dry and overcooked. Our waiter never came back to ask if everything was cooked to our liking. The best part of the entire dinner was my glass of wine. The rest of the food was just mediocre. We spent close to $300, and was disappointed with our entire experience!! I even waited 2 weeks to write this review, because I thought maybe I wouldn't be as upset after a little time passed. I'd think twice before going to this location. It will be a long time before we go back, if we ever go back.

Wonderful, Classy, and upscale. The wine menu was exclusive and lengthy. The food was absolutely phenomenal! Both the steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Brussels sprouts were amazing. The Parmesan fries were delicious but seemed oddly out of place with such a decadent meal…still worth it though. Went for a birthday celebration and received the dessert as a comp from them…the chocolate dessert was very rich and the cheesecake was creamy—both very excellent! We tried all the Bourbon drinks but the in fashion was my personal favorite! Highly recommend but be prepared to pay for the ambiance, exquisite food tastes, and drink selections! Worth it though!

We had an absolutely phenomenal dinner. Entire experience was top notch. My husband and I went to celebrate my birthday. The hand written birthday card and chocolate Happy Birthday on my dessert plate totally made my night, I was not expecting the personalized touches. Definitely can't wait to go back.

One of the more pricey places, but worth it if you have the coin. Staff is impeccable and timely. One of the best steaks I've had in KC. Got dessert to go. Love love love!

Had a lovely meal here with my husband. We had a late lunch and weren’t too hungry, unfortunately. We ordered the tenderloin and lobster tails which the kitchen split for us and the au gratin potatoes. Both were delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare and the lobster tails were divine. Our drinks were wonderful as well! Service was upstanding and attentive! Highly recommend! Come hungry!!

Dinner at The Capital Grille was everything we hope for in a fine dining experience. We started with Tuna Tartare with Avacado Mango and Siracha Ceasar salad, Gorgonzola crusted dry aged KC Strip with Cabernet reduction, sides of Sam's mashed Potatoes and Lobster Mac n Cheese and ended with Chocolate Espresso Cake. It was a wonderful dinner with friends.

Top notch service: incredibly attentive, friendly, but not overbearing. Kept wine glasses full and both of us very happy. Appetizers were fantastic, steak was cooked perfectly, and the sides were hearty and decadent. Overall very happy with my birthday dinner!

Anniversary dinner hear was one if the best I had in a long time. I had the KC strip and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had the Sea Bass and it was probably the best I had ever tasted. The service was spectacular they were extremely busy and still found more than enough time to make us feel like we were the only ones there. The price is high but worth it. Will be back when I am in the area.

Absolutely delightful! We went here last minute for dinner on the night of my cousins bachelorette party, and it was so good. The waitstaff were all lovely as well. I got the Chicken with mushrooms and risotto and it was very good, the most tender chicken I have ever had! I also got the blueberry bourbon sidecar which was amazing as well! 10/10 would go back as long as I have the money for it (it's quite pricey).

Service was good, there is the server and another person that kept your table tidy without the empty dishes when you done. Ambient is nice, low illumination. Food most important Steaks are no a disappointment so far. However, for some reason the Shrimp Cocktail I imagine something different. Overall, we enjoyed the experience at Capital Grill.

Great atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Great service from curb to the end. Calamari was delicious as was the wedge salad. Bone in New York steak was excellent. The sides of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were less than ordinary. I expect better. Overall a very nice meal.

Our first time at the Capital Grille last night! I got a last minute reservation for me and my husband and we weren’t sure what to expect. They had good reviews and are always busy, so that’s usually a good sign. Because of it being Christmas weekend, the plaza was full of cars and it took us a little longer than expected to get parked. I called the restaurant to make sure we could still get a table and they told us to come in. We got to the restaurant and several groups came in after us, all waiting to be seated. However, service is so quick and well organized they had us and all the groups seated in 10 minutes. This place’s service is like a well oiled machine. They sat us in a small room near the restrooms, which was nice because it was quieter than the bar area of the restaurant. I had no idea capital grille was so large! Takes up the whole block!! Our waiter, Corey, was perfect. He was friendly, helpful, and very attentive. Our water glasses were always full, we never were waiting for drinks, and there were also additional staff checking tables too. Even how they served the bread: they went in order of how we were sat. The waiter had bread for 3 tables and instead of just serving us and then the tables to our left, he went one by one by the order we had sat down. Lastly, the food was incredible. I got the sirloin and lobster tails. Lobster melted in your mouth, homemade butter is to die for, and steaks were SO tender! We will definitely be back and I can tell it’s a Kansas City tradition to go there, now I know why!! One of a kind place.

The Capital Grill on The Plaza in Kansas City did a fantastic job. I booked a table for six and a table for 12 on New Years Eve at 3:30 pm. The Hostesses Sarah and Kim were able to accommodate our group and place us together... we had a large group! Our server, Brett, did a great job handling everyone's request. This location was awesome, and that's why we have made this a NYE tradition the last few years.

I just turned 18 years old and came to this amazing restaurant. The atmosphere is very pleasing. I walked into a beautiful table with happy birthday decor on my table and was greeted very kindly by my waiter. The truffle fries and Chicken Breast were delicious with a side of New England Clam Chowder. I told my waiter I was allergic to certain items and the waiter was very understanding and took my allergies very seriously. I have stopped by with my mom for the night and will be eating here again. Thank you for making this an enjoyable birthday dinner for me Capital Grille. 10/10 recommend if in the area.

Recently went here for a surprise birthday dinner for myself that my significant other took me to! I can't even describe how absolutely out of this world this place was! Food was to die for, it just kept getting better and better! Their bread selection they serve you with the butter is so good as well. We tried the lobster/crab cakes (I wasn't a fan just for personal preference) but my boyfriend loved it! The lamb chops were so divine alongside the greens salad/brussel sprouts, and the coconut cream pie! Our service, Dave (or Dan! I cannot recall at this moment) was so amazing at taking care of us. His recommendations were spot on and I trusted him with whatever he was recommending to us and was very personable and sweet. We plan on this now being a tradition of coming here for special events. Thank you so much to the staff for such a great time and experience!

What a fantastic place! The food was absolutely fantastic. I was so happy with the server, she was very helpful and just a wonderful personality. Thank you all so very much for making a fantastic experience for my birthday!! The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned beautifully. I can't express enough how creamy the mashed potatoes are. Everything was absolutely amazing!

Recommend coming here right at 5pm, especially on the weekends. We received wonderful service from the moment we arrived. Then we had Mark, in the bar seating area, who was fabulous! The food was excellent. We had French onion soup, clam chowder, and their surf and turf. Plus, they surprised us with a “Happy Anniversary“ plate of mini desserts. It was truly a wonderful evening.

This was truly an exceptional meal and experience. From the service to the atmosphere and each course in between, we enjoyed our visit. The stand-outs were the crab cakes, lamb chops, sea bass and cheese cake! I've been to many CGs, but I think this may be #1.
