What a fun venue! I'm always looking for restaurants with a good selection for my vegan friend and the Westside local fills that void. Although reservations are recommended we arrived Sunday for brunch without any and were seated in less than 10 minutes. Mat , at the front was very helpful and welcoming. Our waitress, Hannah was great! She was very friendly , knowledgeable and efficient. Even though the place was jumping (and a bit loud) she never acted or made us feel rushed quite the contrary she made us feel quite welcome like regulars. The food was fantastic! My friend ordered the biscuits and gravy, mushroom gravy with no meat. I had the country Benny and it was great! We lucked out with a parking space right by the door otherwise the street parking is very limited. Highly recommend. I am sure to return soon. Thank you for a pleasant experience.

This is a unique restaurant with a great vibe. The food here is delicious, with generous portions. Not horribly priced for the amount and quality food you receive. The Honey Sriracha Chicken Sandwich was great, and something I’d recommend others to try for themselves. The Mac and Cheese is pretty great too.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in KC. These folks take the “local” in their name seriously. A lot of what they serve is locally sourced and excellently prepared. The menu covers a range of tastes. Though typically I like to get something more unique to the venue, the last time I was there I was in a fish and chips mood. Everything they make is great, so comfort foods and more exotic fare are all safe bets. I'm also crazy about the cocktails. Not only are they delicious, but they’re also cleverly themed. The selection changes frequently, so I can’t recommend anything specific. But there's always something fun afoot. For example, one month all the cocktails had movie themes. The Apollo-13-based offering contained Tang (and tasted great anyway). They always lure me into drinking more than I should, but I always enjoy it during and seldom regret it later.

My sister and I split the tater tot nachos, grilled cheese, and the Italian tofu sandwich. I can't say enough good things about the food here. It was perfect and I was on the verge of happy tears. This place gets me and I'm grateful for stumbling across it during first Friday's. I will be back and I plan on trying everything.

Great vibe and fantastic food. The burger was a little hard to handle and messy. The flavor 💯 made up for the mess. Would recommend and will return.

Visiting KC for a short roadtrip and we stopped in for dinner at this cute local spot. The food was great and the service was on point. The meatloaf was enough for two people to share and the honey sriracha chicken sandwich had a great flavor and nice kick. The fries hit the spot with all three sauces. This is a must spot when on this side of KC! Enjoy!

Review update: Relaxing ambiance, great food and incredible team members await you at @thewestsidelocal. The vibe feels upscale but is really down to earth. They offer seasonal comfort food with locally sourced ingredients in a classy way. Recommend: lemonade spritzer, Kale salad, Jalapeño and jam burger, the grilled cheese/tomato soup and the apple fritters. Tips: make reservations, they fill up!

I dont typically rate so low but we had a horrible experience. It wasn't all bad, the gentleman who served us our water was so great! He was on top of it and very kind. We felt unwelcome by our actual server and was told by her, "I wouldn't blame you, if you never came back!" The food itself wasn't worth the price at all, my husband's Mac n cheese was very bare. ($24.00) It was dry and tasteless. The best thing that we had was the spinach and artichoke dip. When it was time to pay, we told her she could keep the change, she laughed in my face. We will not be returning.

I came across this gem in a city with mostly BBQ restaurants. It is farm to table and locally sourced ingredients. The vibe inside was definitely what I was looking for. We first ordered a cheese and meat board which was outstanding. followed that up with the short ribs, garlic cream pasta, and siracha burger. As for drinks you know we went with their take on the old-fashioned which is called Dionysus and a few others. The food and cocktails were fantastic and paired well. This is a KC must stop!!!!

Wow. So good! It was pretty busy at 6:00 PM on a Saturday, it seems like reservations are a good idea. We got a seat by the window and it was very warm on a hot day. The food was amazing though. The jalapeno jam burger was unique and the bun was so fluffy. The steak on the mac and cheese was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Seriously, give this place a try.

Got breakfast here before the Steelers-Chiefs game. Excellent breakfast all around, bloody Mary’s were nice and spicy, and very tasty breakfast food.

The Westside Local is a fabulous place with a great atmosphere. Had brunch, check out the photo of the Carnitas Burrito! It’s huge. Also had the Bacon & Cheese Omelette, also outstanding. Definitely recommend, get reservations.

I went here in June 2023 and it's a nice, cozy little place to try new foods! The staff were pleasant and provided quick, friendly service 😊 The food was like nostalgia, comfort food to me. 10/10, highly recommend.

Had lunch here with some friends from out of town. I was skeptical before, but we sat on the patio, had an amazing server, and the food was excellent! I had a sweet potato quinoa burger with hummus and French fries, and I'm already plotting when I can return for this same meal. Friends got tacos, the jam burger, and a kale salad, and everyone was satisfied.

Awesome place with a great vibe. I love that they list dietary restrictions on the menu. They definitely have something for everyone - gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, etc. Would definitely go back. All of the food we ordered was delicious and photo worthy! (Photo of portobello sandwich with fresh veggies).

The food here is phenomenal. We had the tacos and the loaded baked potato soup and sour dough toast and chocolate creme brulee. Service was good until it got busy, but the food is worth the trip. Good vegan and gluten free options available. Everyone at my table enjoyed their food and the neighbors ordered two side orders of the delicious candied bacon to go (it was a topper for the soup, so yummy!) I really appreciate the heavy curtains keeping the cold air out of the dining room. I was expecting to freeze and ended up removing my sweater.

Super fresh food with beautiful presentation that I do not expect from casual restaurant! Love the outside seating area! Reservation in advance during weekend is recommended!

I had a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner and it was pretty good, but the true stunner was the portobello mushrooms for an appetizer. I had a Valkyries cocktail and I enjoyed the Norse mythology themed drinks, as I have a collie named Fenris at home -- he also enjoyed his half of my grilled cheese I brought home.

Food and service are always excellent here. I try something new each time and am never disappointed. Had the Veggie Pot Pie wifb chicken and it was delicious!

I have always loved westside local and I am happy to say they are back and better than ever! I brought a group of out of town coworkers here for dinner and it was the perfect spot. Not too loud, food that everyone was happy with, good healthy choices and some not so healthy indulgences for a variety of eaters. My only complaint was that the seating wasn't super comfortable for a longer meal. Service was prompt and patient as we took a while to settle in and get an order together.

Somewhat limited menu - a few sandwiches & cocktails or wine. Only two salad choices, neither appealing to me. A number of vegetarian choices. Dishes felt like they're trying too hard to be trendy & elite. $20 for lunch felt a bit pricey for a sandwich and side with a soft drink. That being said, my sandwich was tasty, but my ankles are now swollen like balloons, so I suspect LOTS of salt. I didn't see nutrition info anywhere. Server was quietly attentive until one of my party asked for her cup of soup to go back to be microwaved - even though when ordering, she asked for it to be steaming hot, it arrived lukewarm. After reheating, it still wasn't hot. The server left us alone thereafter until she dropped off the check. Atmosphere was simple. Table "flowers" were two short stems of a dried yellow blossom in what looked like an old perfume bottle, which added nothing. Tables were planks of wood - the table where I sat was uneven enough that water poured into the glasses leaked onto the table almost into my lap. I haven't been out much in the last two years, so perhaps I've gotten too accustomed to eating at home. I was not impressed enough to go back.

Cute little gem I just had a lunch meeting at! Perfect spot. Great neighborhood feel. Delicious food. I got the BLT, but im going to be back for that mac n cheese soon!

The atmosphere makes for a perfect little spot to enjoy a nice conversation, whether it is inside the dining area or on the outside porch. The food is fresh and healthy and amazing. My personal favorites are the grilled cheese and tomato soup or the BLT. They literally broke the mold for both of these common sandwiches. It is kind of a small space so it's best to make reservations. The staff is great, the food is fantastic, and the cocktails are also unique and delicious.

What a banger menu with unique flavors! Our server was Mackenzie and she was very informative, warm and welcoming. She bent down and talked to us at chair level (does that make sense?) and I was like woah. I want to be her friend. I’d party with her. I hope she gets promoted and gets the recognition she deserves!

Worth the short walk from the convention center. A number of vegetarian and even vegan options. I had the Fried Portabella Sammy with fried salt and pepper tater tots for my side. Great sandwich and wouldn't hesitate to order it again. Tried their crisp for dessert. Portion sizes were generally generous except the crisp didn't come with enough ice cream (scoop was very small). Service was nice and timely. Definitely a place to check out if you are in the area. $33.04 total before tax for those two items.

Really tasty spot. Nice portions, well seasoned. Little bit of everything on the menu. We enjoyed all of it!

👍 I ordered a double cheeseburger and asked for how they do it without customizing it. To be honest I give it a four because of the size of the burger and price. The burger tasted good and well balanced in flavors without anything overpowering it. What makes it taste great is the flavor of the meat...
