During
a
recent
road
trip
to
the
Ozarks,
we
decided
to
make
a
pit
stop
at
LC's
in
Kansas
City,
MO.
My
friend
had
been
raving
about
it,
and
our
anticipation
was
high
as
we
pulled
into
this
charming
BBQ
joint.
LC's
exudes
authenticity,
and
that's
what
sets
it
apart.
The
place
has
a
divey,
old-school
vibe
that
instantly
transports
you
to
the
heart
of
BBQ
country.
What
adds
to
the
experience
is
the
sight
of
all
the
meats
being
smoked
right
before
your
eyes,
creating
an
enticing
aroma
that
lures
you
in.
Now,
when
I
visit
a
BBQ
spot,
I
can't
resist
trying
the
burnt
ends,
and
LC's
was
no
exception.
Unfortunately,
this
was
where
my
enthusiasm
took
a
hit.
While
there
were
some
perfect
morsels
among
the
beef
burnt
ends,
a
significant
portion
of
it
was
disappointingly
chewy,
with
unappetizing
fatty
parts
that
were
almost
impossible
to
chew
through.
I
was
hopeful
that
it
might
have
been
just
an
off
day
or
a
bad
cut
of
meat,
but
to
our
dismay,
all
three
of
us
felt
the
same
way
about
it.
On
a
brighter
note,
the
beans
were
solid,
and
I
would
definitely
order
them
again.
However,
what
still
lingers
in
my
memory
are
the
fries—they
were
absolutely
fantastic
and
worth
a
return
visit
on
their
own.
From
what
I've
heard
and
observed,
the
real
winners
at
LC's
are
the
BBQ
sandwiches,
which,
unfortunately,
I
didn't
get
a
chance
to
try.
One
thing
you
can't
overlook
at
LC's
is
the
portion
sizes—they
are
enormous,
some
of
the
biggest
I've
ever
seen
at
a
BBQ
joint.
I
would
recommend
LC's
for
the
overall
experience
and
the
generous
portions.
However,
I'd
advise
avoiding
the
beef
burnt
ends
to
prevent
potential
disappointment.
The
atmosphere
and
the
aroma
of
smoking
meats
make
LC's
a
unique
and
inviting
BBQ
destination
worth
a
visit
when
you
find
yourself
in
Kansas
City.
