I nice place with good food. Not only is it good, you get a large amount of it from some friendly staff. Don’t let the outside fool you. Stop by and get some good food.

This is one great BBQ Café. They have a hot and sweet BBQ sauce, that is quite tasty. A must try when you are in the area.

Great little BBQ spot. KC is famous for barbecue and I wasn’t disappointed. I had a great tasting sandwich of brisket and burnt ends with two beers for a great price. Will definitely be back.

I've been to KC seven times between work and Taekwondo tournaments but never had any barbecue until I ventured here yesterday. The best part of the visit (outside of the location) was the Italian sausage, cheesy corn, coleslaw, ribs (daughter devoured), pulled pork, and our server. I'm not sure where other people have eaten barbecue that they think this place was the best they ever tasted because I beg to differ. There is no reason to need or have barbecue sauce added to your meat due to it being way to dry or lacked flavoring. I'm extremely disappointed in the owner having this place open to serve less than par barbecue that I'm glad I had plenty of water in addition sauce to even make the effort to consume my food. I realize that everyone has there own style in regards to preparation or cooking methods for barbecue, but I've made meals out of stale ramen that tasted better or had flavor or wasn't dryer than a dessert. I wasn't able to sample the ribs as my daughter devoured then while the Italian sausage and pulled pork were bursting with flavor. The one thing I want more than anything for my barbecue experience is some good burnt ends or better known as meat candy. The burnt ends were not sweet or moist in any way, shape, or form and was that of great grandma's candy bowl she's been eating on for 5-10 years. The brisket was the same way that I was forced to use barbecue sauce to eat the meal. Every piece of meat should be seasoned and/or have some type of flavoring to it. Unfortunately this place fell way short on moisture and seasoning. I don't own my own restaurant, but I'm sure that even with my limited access to equipment or supplies that I'm able to produce a far superior version of what is sold here to customers. I will make an effort to visit other locations in order to have the barbecue experience I have heard so much about (longer than I've been alive) to ensure no one is covering up their failed effort to smoke meats by serving meals with barbecue sauce.

We love this place! Small, family owned, great food and very good service. I'm deducting one star this time because a service charge was added to our bill without telling us. Maybe it says something about that on the menu (there were 8 of us) but like most people, I assume, I added a generous tip and didn't notice the up-charge. Bad on me for not checking the ticket more closely, but it might have been nice if we had been told about it. We still love this place, and we'll be back, but next time I'll look at the tab closer before adding on a tip.

The hotel we stayed at recommended this place so I took the entire family. We had the baby back ribs slab, three meat combo (brisket, sausage, turkey) with a couple of burgers. The meats were all dry and the BBQ sauce tasted like the commercial bottled kind (not memorable). Maybe we got whatever was left over from the earlier shift, cause we did go before closing. Service was good though. I'd give it another chance, but during lunch hour maybe.

We have ate here on several occasions when staying across the street at the Embassy Suites. The food is excellent. It has great barbecue flavor and they serve you very quickly. The two meat dinner is a large sized portion.

I don't ever do this. Not good. Food was cold and tough. 20.00 for 1/2 rack.... Not sure why I tipped. Sides came from a bucket or a bag. Nothing great. Should be priced at 15.99 or less.... It took less than 3min to prepare my order... Or did chef "Mic.owave"

I ate here twice during a business trip and both times it was excellent. The meat is juicy, tender and has a great smokey flavor to it. I loved the brisket and ribs. Baked beans were out of this world. Portions were huge, service was great and it was a good value for price versus quality and quantity.

Good food and very fair prices. BBQ and sauce is probably a 3.9, rounding to 4, which is good for fast, casual barbeque. Big portions, and side of fries is very big. You won't leave feeling very hungry. There's a wide assortment of items on the menu, including, believe it or not, a meatball sandwich (never had it; can't vouch for it). Friendly, attentive, courteous service.

Great food. The cheesy corn was fantastic. The food was great the atmosphere not so much. The lady at the front seemed a bit bothered when we picked up our food. Not even a “hi” or “thank you” was said to us. Cant give it a 5.

Food is not good on the flavor, it’s very bland and it was served cold. Very small quantities or servings. Choices for sides isn’t the best, missing the big 3 for bbq. Same goes for the meats.

As a Kansas City local, I’ve got to say SmokeBox BBQ is a knockout spot. The other day, my wife, daughter, and I dropped in for some eats, and boy, were we impressed. The place was spick-and-span, creating a real cozy feel. Now, let’s talk about those BBQ pork ribs – they were the bomb! Smoked to perfection, these ribs were so tender, the meat just slid right off the bone. But it wasn’t just the grub that made our day; the folks working there were top-notch. Friendly, quick on their feet, and always smiling – they made us feel like family. All in all, SmokeBox BBQ is the real deal for anyone craving some genuine Kansas City BBQ goodness.

We had Smokebox cater our wedding yesterday of 200 people and everyone LOVED the food! We didn't have many leftovers by the end of the night and people were fighting over them! Amazing food, great service, they took care of EVERYTHING and I would highly recommend Smokebox to anyone! Everyone was asking where the restaurant was because they wanted to go soon! Definitely stop by or order them for your event!

Stop out of convenience, with a hopeful attitude. I should have trusted the other reviewers. If you’re in a hurry and it not out of your way, it edible and the service is top notch. The meat couldn’t carry itself and absolutely needed BBQ Sauce…then the sauce is so so. The beans were decent.

My KC BBQ Journey: For the year I’m in KC, my goal is to try a new bbq spot each week. Smokebox was on the list today. Cool atmosphere with plenty of parking outside and seating inside. Solid menu with reasonable prices. I got the short end rib dinner. The ribs were tasty. They had a good amount of meat to them and they were skillfully made. Some parts were a bit dry, though. The sauce was good. It didn’t overwhelm the meat, but it didn’t add much to it. The beans were flavorful with a good ratio of beans to meat. The coleslaw added a refreshing kick, and the fries were nice as well. The service was okay, but I think they were short staffed with one person working the room and the register which caused delays in ordering our food. Solid overall. I’m excited to continue my KC bbq journey!

Service is great food is great and the atmosphere was great definitely a place to go back to the Price is Right and I got a half a slab of ribs almost to take home with me cuz I couldn't eat everything that I ordered LOL. Thank you for a great quick bite to eat from BKB Limo service.

We got takeout while staying at a nearby hotel. The ribs I got were OK though a fair bit overdone but the burnt ends were pretty good. The fries were soggy which I know is the great downfall of takeout. This was convenient place after a long day of travel but there are many other BBQ joints I would check out before making a return here

Friendly service but that's the only thing I had good from this restaurant. Burnt end, brisket and pulled pork were dry and lacking flavor. Small portions of meat. Beans were okay. I got the French fries in case the meal wasn't great and the fries were terrible too. Skip it and go to Joe's BBQ.

My wife, me and our 4 kids went to eat at this restaurant and enjoyed the food. The service however was lackluster due to the waitress not being attentive to our needs. When we received our bill the waitress automatically added gratuity of 20% without prior communication. We had to ask what is was and why it was automatically added. Her response was if a party of 6 or more people the system adds the fee. I am all about tipping good but not forced especially when not advised ahead of time.

It was okay this was close to our hotel and just drove over 7 hours to get here we wanted BBQ but they covered the meat with BBQ sauce THAT'S SOOOOOO WRONG for me it's like putting A1 on a ribeye steak your covering up the natural greatness of the meat
