Super awesome place! Make sure to wear your walking shoes and expect to spend a good three to four hours here if you are wanting to experience everything. The exhibits are really interactive and interesting. It was really neat to go outside and play as well.

Wow! What a gem of a place. Kudos to the exhibit creators. Children of all ages & adults alike will find something amazing and interesting to see and learn about. Many reviews say 2 hours is enough - but you can easily spend 4+ hours, especially if you purchase a combo pass to include the planetarium. There were so many learning stations, sky bike, small animal exhibit, painting area, sand area, etc. I would highly recommend! We had 4 kids ages 5, 6, 7, & 10 with us and they all agreed this was a 5 star experience! Finally all staff members were friendly and interacted with the kids.

Parking in the garage was about half full. They participate in the B of A museums on us program if you want free adult admission. The tickets can be purchased in advance but not with museums on us. They had several exhibits that were broken or skee ball where 2 balls were missing. Either way the kids had a great time but most exhibits are for taller older kids (late elementary or early middle school). Some topics were too advanced toddler to early elementary.

This place was amazing. The outdoor space had so much to offer as well as the inside. There were so many exhibits, it almost felt impossible to see it in one day. My 6 year old had a blast. We can't wait to go back.

Loved this experience so much! Went on a Saturday, and it was packed with people! We were the only ones wearing masks. (Wanted to deny any flu or cold germs a free ride) Kids will have an amazing time here! Be sure to bring your quarters with you and prepare to spend hours playing and exploring! I rode the sky bike! There were a ton of hands-on activities for all ages! A++ experience

We used the Pogo Pass (definitely worth it if you want to try out different activities around KC). It was a fun time, it’s similar to Wonderscope but obviously has science incorporated into the activities/exhibits. I probably wouldn’t bring a kid under 2 unless you had other kids with you, my almost 3 year old had fun though. Probably most fun for 4-10 years old. Could easily spend 3 hours here if you want to see everything. Close to crown center which is nice so you can make a day of it. If you park at crown center and don’t mind walking a little you can park for free (3 hrs free with validation slip, 6 hrs free if you spend $25 and get a slip from guest services), otherwise the union station garage does cost a little.

This place is huge and fun for the whole family. We enjoyed our first visit so much, we became Union Station members so we can go again and again. We thought we had seen it all during our first visit, but there was much more we discovered when we went back. There are lots of fun games and exhibits, but with lessons in science to be learned from each.

Awesome fun place to take your kiddos plenty of things to do. Our boys are 9&12 had fun for 4 hours. Must try Sky bike . Love the place ,clean spacious , staffs were nice. + point is there is a place to hang the coats/jackets so you don’t have to carry it inside.

I took my kiddos here on a weekend day in the late morning. It’s important to note up front, for those like myself who may not know. There are a few things you should know before you go! 1) If you plan/need to park there in the Union Station parking lot-there is a flat rate fee of $15 per day. You must pay this at the kiosk before entry, you’ll get a small printed ticket, and you keep it with you. You’ll need to know your vehicle license plate number and you’ll need to note what the number is for the space you parked in. 2) The planetarium is not included in standard admission. 3) You can’t purchase entry with cash unless you go down one level and then back up with the receipt. Best choice is to bring your plastic. 4) Kids need socks for the Kinetic Climber/Indoor Playground. 5) If you plan strategically you can work your way from one end of this experience to the other and the kiddos will still enjoy one or two parts of each experience/exhibit, which really does make it worth the expense. I absolutely recommend Science City to anyone with kiddos. There is something for everyone here. From dinosaurs to robotics and the process of traditional pulp paper making is fun for kiddos who like to participate with the “learning” process. There is water, STEM of all sorts, a Dino dig, kinetic energy area, and so much more. Absolutely worth the $53 cost of admission for me and my two kiddos. We will definitely visit again. I failed to do this place justice with the pictures I’m posting. I would post more, but I’m unwilling to include my children in my pictures. These photos are of only a few of the exhibits/entertainment areas on offer at Science City!!

From out of town and wanted to check out Union Station, and just sort of picked going here at random. Definitely geared towards young kids, but we’re basically 30 year old kids, so we had a blast interacting with all of the exhibits. Glad we caught it while it was decorated for Halloween!

Never been to this place because we were from out of town, so we didn't know what to expect. It was a little challenging to find inside Union Station, but we asked security and there was a map. It was A LOT to take in and a little overwhelming. We went on a Saturday, so of course it was packed! Some areas more than other areas. We took a 2yo and this place was okay for that age but it's more designed for old kids. Maybe 2nd grader and up. However, they did have a 4yo and younger area which was way less crowded and more tamed. We spent about an hour over there and it had its own bathroom with a kiddie toilet in it. (That was greatly appreciated) 😊 There were lots of things that toddlers like in this gated dedicated area. It was my favorite part for my 2yo. She didn't really care about much else, however, we exposed her to as much as we could. For instance, we took her to the cardboard lab and she loved that! Just playing/creating things with cardboard and recyclable materials. After making her item that she was so proud of and showing it to the staff member, she received a keychain made by one of their 3d printers. It was really cool to see some of them working.

It is amazing how Science City has maintained its similar feel all these years yet there is still so much to explore and do there. Even with the pandemic protocols, you can easily spend an afternoon there and not come close to covering everything! *Revised May 31, 2021* The main entrance is back upstairs on level 1 again for Science City. Dino digging is also open again. A very fun place to go, very excited about our membership pass this year!

Science City is worth every penny! They have done some updates and have a lot of new areas since we have been here about 18 months or maybe 2 years ago. There is a new art making area, a train exploration zone, and a physics arcade. The sand spinning art spot could hold my kid’s attention for hours. The outside playground area is still a favorite with the zip line and climbing tower. Tug of War, the Brain Zone, Sky Bike, Mind Teaser puzzles, Gopher Wheel, and many more activities kept our attention for a few hours!

Totally worth the hype, the short trip and day passes--this place is a wonderland of discovery and endless fun. The Science City I remember as a kid was a blast but it is just packed now with engaging, fun, educational and state-of-the-art activities and interactive exhibits. Would totally recommend this as a full-day outing to families, groups and individuals of all ages and interests. We got a late start (230pm-whoops!) and will be returning soon for a whole day to make it to the areas we missed. There's something for everyone here to enjoy. PLUS! The staff and amenities I encountered were excellent; very accommodating and helpful all the way up until closing time (at Christmas time, no less!) Enjoy yourselves, y'all ! PS. Used KC Pogo Pass for an adult and 2 kids and saved a lot of money and time with ticketing.

AMAZING!!!! This place has everything. My kids are 9 and 11 and had an absolute blast. Really interesting and fun things to do everywhere, and on top of that lots of learning. Even adults had a blast!! And an added bonus is that the place is super clean. A must for families!

Pretty cool place, 2 story museum on the side of the train station. Planetarium tickets cost extra, and if you can afford to do both I highly recommend. My 14 yr old felt a little old being there but my 11 yr old loved it. Several different stations to interact with. Makes learning so much fun!

I thought we would enjoy this place more than we did. There was SO MUCH going on, which was great, but it was all packed together in a way that prevented an opportunity for kiddo to rest and recenter. It was incredibly overstimulating for me as an adult, which means my 5-yo with sensory processing disorder was bouncing off the walls (literally). It was loud. So loud. It was also boiling hot. We go to the zoo all the time and thought this would be a nice, cool break to our usual outing, but I was gross and dripping within minutes. And the wjole exhibit is indoors. Stepping outside when we left was a relief because at least there was a breeze. Overall, this is a decent experience if your children (or you) don't have sensory-related needs or disabilities. It just wasn't right for us, although we will probably try to visit again.

So much bigger than you expect from the outside, both indoor and outdoor spaces. If you have any thoughts of returning, the Union Station membership is a no-brained. Not sure yet? Buy tickets to Science City and you will likely get a follow up email allowing you to apply the cost of your tickets towards the membership. Great for kids of all ages, some of the displays cater to older kids more easily able to digest the scientific components, but weekends are busy will tons of activity station setups and there’s even a no-shoes crawling area for little ones. Highly recommend!

There is so much to do there. My girls loved it. My 9 year old loved riding the bike on the tight wire. The 4 year old loved exploring the exhibits. Tons of activities to keep the kids busy.

We love science city! It's fun for a pretty wide age group. My almost 9 year old still loves it and isn't too old. Would definitely recommend week days. It's huge but still feels overwhelming when it starts to get crowded.

We had the summer membership and definitely got our $ worth. Several of the activity areas have been updated since the last time we had visited and our 3 kids (14, 12, 7) easily spent at least 3 hours here each trip.

We've had a family pass to Science City off and on for the past few years, it's generally a pretty decent way to spend a Saturday afternoon out and about without worrying too much about the weather. The people there are generally pretty helpful and friendly, though really you're pretty much left to your own devices here. The things to be done don't change all that often, so as an adult one would tend to get bored here, but the kids have a good time. Union Station is pretty, but once again, once you've seen it....well, you've seen it. I can't say that I'd recommend eating here, it's expensive and I've never heard great things about the service.

It was a great time for me and my 10 year old son. He loved it and it had enough interesting things to keep me entertained as well. It was larger than I was thinking and took a good few hours to check it all out. Will definitely recommend!

First timing going to science center and even for an adult I would have to say this is one of the better science museums that I’ve been to. Even the other adults in my group had the same view. The way they have everything set up is very thoughtful to really evoke learning through play. Our group included kids from 8-16yrs and everyone stayed engaged the full 2hrs. We could have spent more time if we had food but we were in between activities so didn’t plan to stay so long. I would highly recommend to go if you are in KC area and if you live in this area a membership would not be a bad idea too as the kids will really enjoy it. The best part is that there is also an outdoor play area that helps the kids to break up all the semi-formal learning to just play! Great great place for kids and cost is very reasonable when you take into account all the education you gain.

Another great place in KC to shoot. 📸 My kid would live here if he could. Loves it, all day fun & then that chocolate shop on the way out. Fantastic place for learning and fun. We got to see and hold actual fossils, explained to us by who dug them. An experience I hope my child never forgets. Many photo ops & wonderful people taking care of it. The best of KC in union station.

This place we way better than one would expected. We originally put this on our vacation schedule as a filler in between Ocean of Fun and World of Fun, not realizing that's just an hour visit with three kids. You can easily make this a four hour visit like we have done. There are so many cool things to keep everyone occupied by brian teaser, fun facts, play areas indoors, and out door area. Definitely would recommend it to anyone with kids going through Kansas City.

A great place for kids and adults to try some hands-on activities and to learn a bit more about the world around them. Really enjoyable. We liked that there's an outside area to get some energy out and an area for younger kid activities too. Definitely look forward to going again the next time we are in Kansas City.

Had so much fun with my grandson. He is almost 2, there were so many awesome activities for him to participate in. He especially liked the toddler corner. That was a nice break. I can not wait to take my 2 older grandsons. What a fun way to spend your afternoon!!!!!!!!

Lots of fun for the kids. We would go more often if it was cheaper. There are things for kids of all ages to enjoy. What makes it expensive is paying for a ticket and then paying for parking. There are so many things to do. You could stay there all day if you wanted to and the kids wouldn’t get bored.

  • 5/5 John A. 2 years ago on Google
This place is great, even if you don't take any kids! Very interactive, and better than being in school (school is important so stay in kiddos)! You will be tired after being there, so make sure you don't have a ton planned afterwards. Special shout out to a great employee you have in the concession area downstairs. Cat you helped a stranger from the kindness of your heart, Union Station is lucky to have an employee like her!

The best place to spend weekend with kids in Kansas City. Science City is full of activities that are not only fun but they also have significant education value. Your kid can be next Einstein, all you need is to spark interest and Science City is the best place to do that.
