Amazing little neighborhood to walk through the 1800s. This amazing museum has 21 structures with 13 authentic building dates from 1807 to 1885. You can walk around the area for free. The inside of the buildings are only open during events. The events are usually cash only and affordable. The 1800s Christmas event were $5 cash only event. There are also signs outside of each building telling where the buildings came from and a bit history about the buildings.

Excellent adventure!!! Their website is not updated as of 7/5/21 Incase you wanted to know when they have live re-enactments planned or when their historical buildings are open to the public. There is a phone number to call for info. Their Facebook page is way more accurate 👍🏻 You can still walk around which was great and read the history, as well as look into some windows. Lots of shade, places to sit, picnic tables for lunch and a gravel walking path.

We went during the July event so we could check out the inside of the houses. My two year old loved it! He could run from house to house and no one told him to slow down! 🤣 he loved seeing everyone in the costume and loved exploring each new building. Everyone was soooo kind!!! They had a really cool band playing and the buffalo were coming up to the fence super close! We felt blessed to see such a cool place with such kind people.

I appreciate that this park was open and free on a random Saturday. I recommend visiting when the buildings are open, which is only during certain event weekends.

I've been visiting this place for over 20 years. It's always a great place to explore & see the buildings & live Buffaloes! It's like I'm traveling back into history, each time I visit!

Very enjoyable to walk around and read the history of the buildings. Very well laid out and put together. Interesting seeing the bison there too.

Beautiful place, it was an excellent Sunday afternoon adventure for our family. So peaceful and quiet, we even briefly saw the Buffalo hiding in the tall grass. Lots of history and my kids were amused by the structures and how people lived in the 1800's. They also have bathrooms which was great when my kids needed to use the restroom. I wish we could go inside of the buildings, but even without that... it's still worth the trip!

Excellent outdoor space during the week, not heavily trafficked. Neat 1800 building collection of 21 structures from the area that open like a park year round. I look forward to coming back for an event.

Loved this hidden gem in the City of Liberty! Informational and interesting! We went when they weren't having any events, so you couldn't see directly inside, but they had informational boards with pictures on each place. Fun little walk back in time.

I've been to this place multiple times and it's beautiful every season. I've introduced it to many friends as a fantastic place to explore. A lot of the times that I go, there is 0-1 other person there so I jokingly pretend that I'm just stepping back in time and this is my own town 😂 It is a beautiful and peaceful place to have a picnic, walk your dog, visit the Bison, and explore some trails! If I wasn't moving away, I'd honestly sign up to volunteer to help take care of this place. The doctor's backyard garden is a dream project! 💕

Great place to roam around and enjoy the outdoors on a nice day. I can’t wait to visit during an event so we can go inside the buildings. It reminds me a little bit of Missouri Town in Lees Summit

In town visiting and decided to take the family out for a piece of history. Like other reviewers I should of checked the website. When Google said it was opened I assumed we’d be able to get into the buildings. Kids still had a good time running through the old town. We were able to read all the historical signs for each building and peak through some windows. Would like to go back during an event so we could see the inside but this is doubtful since we are visiting from out of state.

Great setting. Nice people. Fun skits they do. Unfortunately they are short staffed but they do a good job anyway. I wish the other actors would return so it can flourish. Very clean and safe. Hard for ADA folks and elders to get up the walkway. Rocks are too big.

It's my go to for a great walk around, old time buildings and peps walking w children and/or dogs or just put for a stroll. Saturdays have buildings open in summer w volunteers dressed in period costumes. Excellent area.

This place is so beautiful!! One of the best parts about it is the Buffalo. We love the old buildings and the history that comes along with it.

On the day we happened upon this little piece of history, there was no one there except a few other visitors. Thankfully, there were signs at every building explaining what each one was and where the buildings came from. Since the weather was perfect, we took our time and wandered around, looking over everything and peeking in any windows we could. All in all, it was quite enjoyable and we vowed to return some weekend when the period actors are there. The first surprise was the living, grazing buffalo near the entrance!

It's a beautiful park, nice trails. I love the Wilderness Run, although it could be better marked. Soup after is always good!! The museum area is pretty cool.

There are a lot of historic buildings here. Some were moved here. It doesn't matter what time of year, you'll still get to see a lot of history here and they have plaques explaining what you're looking at.

I really love this place. To be able to see houses and buildings from yesteryear is absolutely amazing. You can go practically any day of the year, however, the best times are when the buildings are opened up and the living history actors are there for you to interact with. I particularly love the cabins and the mercantile. The church is also particularly interesting. While there is a cemetery next to the church, take note that no one is actually buried there; it's just headstones. The parking is free and for the most part, there is no charge to wander in and take a look around and into the windows. Again, I highly recommend you find the dates the historical actors are there, as your experience will become ten fold.

When Google said it was open, I expected all the buildings to be open too. I should have checked the website where I could have read that the buildings usually are not open. The outside of the buildings had pictures on stands to show what the inside of the buildings looked like. Quite a few buildings here and some nice bike trails.

This is a really well kept living museum. It is really interesting to read the history at your own pace and getting some quite nature walking in at the same time!

Nice walk back in time. If you're looking for a quiet, nice stroll this is your place. There were 4 bison in the pasture the day we went. The buildings are well taken care of. There are water fountains and the restrooms were clean. There was no charge to enter. Great place to take some beautiful pictures. ❤️

Is it a beautiful place? yes. But instead of a museum as a ode to long since dead people, would be nice if living people could have housing. There are sure lots of living regular wage people right now that need houses and not the huge only million dollar mcmansions they're building around here.

Nice and quiet place to visit. Reminds me the structures from RDR2 game :)

Beautiful and peaceful mix of historical and reproduction buildings, with an onsite modern restroom and very long gravel trails to hike, which connect to the nearby trail system at Hodge Park where there's even more miles of trails to hike, some prairie and some forest. Word of caution, there's poison ivy all around the area at the treeline and along the sides of the trails, so learn how to identify it and stay away from it. The village area itself is very well kept and has no such hazards in it. This is a great place to escape the noise and business of the city... just try not to gag at the insane amount of family photo groups that come through at times to bogart the bridge and other key areas of the museum...
