Searching for a different experience, my wife and I decided to try recently opened Rakar Dumpling House. We were pleased to find an extensive menu offering soups, salads, many choices of dumplings PLUS traditional Chinese cuisine. The young staff was super helpful to us first-timers ordering from the menu kiosk (photos of offerings) and were very pleasant throughout. The place is large with ample room and seating choices in a relaxed setting. There is a beautifully decorated room for large groups and private parties. Regarding our food selections, my wife had cashew chicken and I chose pork dumplings with crab Rangoon and egg drop soup. I rate our selections a “4” re: taste but am anxious to return and try other dishes. Lastly, the eating area is complemented by lovely displays of home decor items for sale. My wife commented that prices were “very reasonable.” We do plan to return with friends who’ve not yet been there.

I’ve been waiting for YEARS for something to replace the old Winsteads. I tried a lot of the menu and here is my thorough review: OVERALL: Would return. Reasonably priced with at least a few “wow” dishes, and a good atmosphere. FOOD: Shrimp - incredible. Like a honey/walnut taste but also with mayo. There was also a salad/slaw thing underneath that was very good, too. Soft-boiled egg - incredible. I only got this because it came included in another dish, but it was the best thing I ate. It was steeped in some type of sauce that made it really flavorful. Fish dumplings - Very unique, and pretty good. I would expect the beef and pork dumplings to have a fuller flavor, but these were very light and not too fishy. I like that they are fried in extra virgin olive oil. Steamed Fried Bun - simple and delicious. These are basically really fluffy, really crispy donut-things. Chicken Thighs - really good flavor, I wish the skin had been a bit crispier. High quality cut of meat though. Edamame, Broccoli, Rice - fine, nothing special. You know what to expect. Sauces - The traditional dumpling sauce was good. The SideKICK sauce was very flavorful but SPICY! Be careful with it. Bubble Tea - Solid tea, but the bobas were really good and chewier than other boba I have had. There was no option on the menu for choosing to make it less sweet, but I told the person making the tea and she added less sugar for me. Mango Smoothie - surprisingly amazing. Tastes like it could be at Rita’s. SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE A sign by the register said it was a “soft launch” and the food might come slowly. Timing was not an issue for me, but maybe because it was not a lunch or dinner rush. The food was self-order and the menu was decently big. I needed to scroll across the top sections to find the drinks. There was also someone taking orders at the register. The inside of the store was really cool. I have not seen something that sells antique furnishings and food. A very relaxing atmosphere, and something to do while waiting for food.

The atmosphere and vibe were calm, and it was beautiful. The service was pretty good except in the entrance it's confusing and no one is there to help you. The person making the drinks was slow and struggled to just make three drinks. The food was ok but not extraordinary. I really like the place and atmosphere. There were some things in the food that could be better, of course. Overall, it's a good restaurant, but this was my experience so I hope you have a better one.

We saw Rakar today while out shopping and thought we'd try it. First off, the egg drop soup was delicious! The pork dumplings were good, too. Tried the char sui pork. I've had better. This was okay. I would definitely try it again. A good restaurant can have an off day, we all can.

It's my own fault I guess. Maybe my expectations are too high. First of all, any place that has a tipping prompt on it's "order-it-yourself" menu system is just tacky to me. How can I tip someone for something I didn't even receive yet, or at all in my case. I ordered three items, they all came out at different times for some reason. I highly doubt they are cooking everything in one pan so how is it possible that the timing could be so bad... The food was bland; subpar for sure. I'd sooner take my chances buying a frozen pack. The interior looks wonderful but that's not why I came.

Got to experience @rakardumplinghouse today with a @yelpkc elite event. First, the staff is amazing. They are kind, knowledgeable, and they are there to just help who ever comes in the door. The pork dumplings are perfectly prepared. The pork is soft and lightly seasoned. The flavors are delicate and not in your face. The dumpling is wonderfully constructed. The meat doesn’t just fall out, which is key for me! I also tried the Pork Zha Jiang Noodles. Again the flavors are delicate but everything is cooked well. I added there pepper sauce, which they called kick out. It is a must for all items. It went well with the noodles and in the dumpling dipping sauce. It is just that good heat. Tried the mango boba semi- sweet. There is also the option of sweet and oat milk. Mango flavor was refreshing a hot day. The one thing that did confuse me was all of the furniture and home decor to purchase that was also in the restaurant. I’m not sure why it was there.

It’s a self serve restaurant with an open concept. I loved the waterfall and beautiful plants & decor that they have available for purchase. I kinda want to see what it looks like with dim lighting in the dining adea. I enjoyed the fried lamb dumplings and egg drop soup.

Food was ok. The dumplings had a flavor I’m not used to. Not bad, not good, just different. Everything else was standard Chinese food. The atmosphere is very cool and clean and felt like a furniture store like the tables felt like belong to a crate and barrel or some thing. Service was great. I like the self order system and food came out quick. I would eat here again but wouldn’t got out of my way to come here.
