This place has a local feel. The bartender was chatting, and was obviously friends with, several of her customers. I originally came here because they serve Pizza 51 style pizza and I was downtown. I return because it is a comfortable welcoming place with good food and friendly staff. The only downside is the beer selection. They have lots of popular beers, but a strong craft beer selection is missing.

I dropped in yesterday for a simple, quick lunch. I had a meatball 🥪 and tater tots. There were only a few tots for $5.00. The meatball 🥪 was all right but not the best I've tasted by far. Service was good. The unsweetened tea was good.

Without a doubt the best Rubin in town! I'm surprised that I have never been here until now. The Milwaukee deli is easy to find at 101 west 9th Street downtown Kansas City MO where they have been for over 100 years (with a few interruptions). A small but lively joint with a well stocked bar and professional staff checks a lot of boxes for me. The large photograph right inside the front door captured the deli receiving the first delivery of beer from a famous st Louis team of Clydesdales after the end of prohibition in 1933. Although the dining room is small we didn't have to wait for a table on a weekday at around 1 o'clock. From my table I observed a steady stream of hungry diners who also had only a short wait to be seated. I had to try the Rubin and I was not disappointed as it was GREAT! I had the classic central branch Rubin served on a marble rye as a proper Rubin should be and grilled to perfection. It's a winner!! The German potato salad was also excellent. The princess had a grilled cheese with bacon and declared it to be a winner as well. Our waitress, Megan, although busy was very patient and more than happy to answer my question and keep my bottomless soda glass full. Thank you Megan for an excellent experience. This Kansas City restaurant is hitting on all eight cylinders and not to be missed. Put this one on your must do list for the new year. I am certain to return soon.

The hot sandwiches here are fantastic. I can’t wait to come back and try each one. The German Potato Salad was a great side selection, and was surprisingly sweet. Definitely recommend the pulled pork sandwich.

We were looking for another KC proud business and this is for sure one to check out. The atmosphere, aesthetic and service here was awesome! Large selection of food and drinks and the place has it’s history shown in the building itself. We were more than impressed with the sandwiches and pizza. Our 4 year old absolutely loved it as well so kid friendly! We were already planning our next visit and what we would get. Highly recommended and will be back for more!

Great deli sandwiches, pizza, and salads. Best ranch dressing EVER! :) Staff and owner are friendly and welcoming. This is a favorite neighborhood spot with a great local feel. I frequently carry - out, but the dine-in experience is great. Love the historic feel with the original floors, light fixtures, and ornate ceiling. Great whiskey selection here, as well, particularly bourbons.

This charming little restaurant maybe easily overlooked when passing by, but what cannot be overlooked is how delicious the food is. Not only were the sandwiches fresh and filling, but they were not over priced. Highly recommend. We will be back to try their pizza next time...unless we succumb to lure of those delicious sandwiches.

The bartender was super nice and attentive. I had a piece of pizza that was bigger than my head! 2 glasses of wine (generous pours) and a tab that was under $25. That's a pretty good deal!

We LOVE Milwaukee Deli to the point where we knew we had to have it as a late night snack at our wedding! We worked out a catering order with Jon who was so great at assisting us and making sure what we ordered showed up at our venue at the requested time! We didn't have to worry about a thing on the day and just got the glorious news from our venue coordinator that the pizza had arrived! Our guests DEVOURED this pizza. Thanks again to Jon and Milwaukee Deli for helping to make our special day even better!

I've been living in downtown KC for 6 months and my wife and I frequently seek new places to eat in the area. I'd have to say this place has been my favorite so far. I had the Milwaukee Style Reuben Sandwich. The meat was very flavorful and moist. I also ordered the soup of the day, chicken tortilla which was a great complement to the sandwich. With it, I ordered an Old Milwaukee Fashion with a side car. It was so good, I had two! My wife had the seasonal salad and an Aperol Spritz which was also very good. We sat at the bar. Bartender was extremely friendly and seasoned. We had great service and enjoyed the atmosphere. The value you get for the money here is the best I've seen in town. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the pizza.

Good selection of food, beer, and liquor. Smaller restaurant: expect a wait at peak times. There is a semi-nook at the North end of the bar: makes a good spot to read when the restaurant isn't busy.

Milwaukee Deli - oh KC! This is a must-do experience! Amazing slices, a killer salmon BLT, pastrami, and meatball sub! They even had Bib and Tucker Bourbon!

A chilled little corner of Kansas City, populated with businessmen, tourists, and grifters alike, offering honest, down-to-earth food at a reasonable price. Service is friendly and welcoming, as well as attentive and proactive. Massive selection of spirits on offer, and a broad range of beers on tap, too. Food menu is your typical hipster pizza/salad/sandwich kindof deal, but go for the brats; they are exclusively brought in here. Sure, they're a little salty and will mean you need another beer, but so what? YOU'RE salty and need another beer, too, and how can a plate that looks like this not make you happy?

They even have Guinness on tap. Guinness + hot pizza = a perfect evening!

My co-worker and I took a chance while in town on this location, and stumbled across a pot of gold. This place is amazing! The pizza slices are huge (think actual NYC slices) and the brats are delicious. Krista was our server and she did a great job giving her suggestions along with tailoring to our desires. Would highly recommend to come back again!

We ate in the deli on a recent Saturday night. My wife and I shared a Rueben sandwich with German potato salad. The Rueben sandwich was okay but maybe a little overcooked. The potato salad was awesome. The wait staff was fantastic and we loved the atmosphere. We got a turkey panini sandwich for my daughter to go and she loved it. Overall the experience was very positive.

Meh. The building is very cool. Our waitress was fantastic! The Hot Pastrami & Milwaukee Style Corned Beef Reuben were okay but not anything we would go back for in the future. The cheddar jalapeño brat was good. They only had cottage cheese, cole slaw, chips, and salad for sides when we were there.

This is simply one of my favorite lunch spots in KC. I have liked everything I have ordered, but the pizza is great. The bartenders are awesome and it is in a great location. I will be back soon.

The evening I came in, it was busy, but my waitress was very accommodating and patient. I took the recommendation of the 4-5 topping slice of pizza. Not only was it filling, but the combination of toppings produce a unique flavor that will now be my go-to when stopping by again. I enjoyed the outdoor seating and the great hospitality.

Just had a delightful dinner here. Boyfriend and I had amazing sandwiches - the turkey panini and pastrami. The chicken enchilada soup is spicy and creamy and awesome. The old fashioned cocktail comes with a PBR sidecar, only $7. We will definitely be back to try the pizza and drink more beer. Our server was super chill- had great vibes while being attentive but not overbearing.

Loved it being in downtown. Portions to me were small for the price. I had the hot pastrami and after I ate my meal I was still hungry. Probably would have had to oder 2 meals for myself. My wife had a Ruben she said it was good but she also was hungry after eating. The food was good but just letting you know you may still be hungry after eating a sandwich. They sell pizza by the slice and 3 sizes whole pizza.

We were in town for training and wanted pizza. We were told to check out this place. Not only was the building historic, and really unique....the pizza was amazing! A large new york style slice! I only spent $5.00, not incl. tip. It was well worth it!! Check out this place if you're in town. Im sure the rest of the food items would be great too-as several people ordered other items and seemed to love them!
