As
a
former
resident
of
Kansas
City,
you
know,
the
first
thing
I
wanted
to
try
on
a
visit
back
to
the
area
was
some
Kansas
City
BBQ.
The
last
we
had
was
pre-pandemic,
and
the
memory
of
it
had
stuck
with
us
all.
We
arrived
about
an
hour
before
the
dinner
rush;
the
place
was
quiet,
and
not
many
people
were
dining,
which
was
to
be
expected.
The
service
was
fairly
quick,
but
if
we
had
wanted
burgers,
we
would
have
gone
to
MacDonalds.
The
mushroom
side
I
ordered
was
if
I
am
being
kind,
extra
crispy.
Probably
a
minute
longer
in
the
fryer
and
I
would
have
said
burnt.
The
burnt
ends
were
not
what
I
could
ever
compare
with
what
I
have
had
in
Kansas
City.
For
what
we
spent,
I
expected
much
better.
According
to
the
web
search
as
we
approached
the
area,
they
had
four
and
a
half
stars
out
of
five.
Sorry
guys,
the
portions
were
extra
small.
A
ten-year-old
could
have
probably
done
it
justice.
Oh,
and
if
you
do
eat,
there
do
not
sit
by
the
windows.
The
draft
coming
in
from
outside
does
not
exactly
make
for
a
comfortable
meal.
The
girl
that
served
us
was
pleasant
enough,
but
she
looked
like
she
was
scared
to
death
of
what
the
reaction
was
going
to
be
regarding
the
food
she
served.
The
next
time
we
are
in
Kansas
City,
we
won't
be
dining
at
Haywards,
there
are
way
to
many
others
that
do
much
better,
and
charge
much
less.
Needless
to
say,
we
won't
be
back.
