Anytime
my
wife
and
I
visit
KC,
we
always
try
out
new
BBQ.
Thus
far,
in
our
pursuit
of
finding
the
king
of
BBQ,
Joe's
Kansas
City
BBQ
(previously
Oklahoma
Joe's)
reigns
#1.
Slaps
was
recommended
by
a
friend,
so
we
were
excited
to
try
out
a
new
joint...
Long
story
short,
the
food
was
nothing
special.
My
wife
and
I
agreed
everything
was
so-so,
a
7/10
at
best.
If
I
could
offer
a
3.5/5
on
Google
reviews,
I
would.
While
the
burnt
ends
came
highly
recommended,
we
found
them
bland
and
fairly
tough.
The
ribs
were
lacking
flavor.
Their
sandwich,
aptly
named,
"The
Sandwich,"
was
smothered
with
cheese.
Normally,
this
is
always
a
plus,
but
because
of
the
strong/robust
flavors
of
the
provel
cheese
that
was
used
as
the
topper,
the
flavor
of
cheese
was
VERY
overwhelming.
The
breading
on
their
onion
rings
failed
to
hold
it's
crunch,
post
hitting
the
bun.
The
beans
were
drowned
in
their
sticky,
sweet
BBQ
sauce,
which,
again,
took
over
the
flavor
profile.
Honestly,
there
was
nothing
"wrong"
with
the
food;
we
simply
went
in
with
high
expectations,
but
were
unfortunately
left
disappointed.
Joe's
Kansas
City
BBQ
still
remains
supreme!
