Swagat really is Fine Indian Cuisine in Kansas City! Decor was great & reflected the Indian theme. Food was superb, served quickly, piping hot, with just the right amount of spice (we went mild). My Fish Kadai, in a red sauce with chunks of peppers & onions, was tasty, tasty, tasty. My wife got the Chicken Mango & it was the perfect blend of sweet & spicy. The saffron rice was light, fluffy, & the perfect compliment to the dishes. We got the Special Nan & all I can say is that you have got to try this yummy version of Nan with potatoes! We sat outside & enjoyed watching the comings & going of Zona Rosa. Staff was great and did a great job serving us (Thank you!). We had a great dinner & look forward to coming back and trying a new dish.

My husband & I finally drove 35 min to check out their lunch buffet which is currently back on Wednesdays & weekends. So glad we did! The food was fantastic quality, so flavorful, and the service was great as well. We will definitely be back!

The food is really good. I would have to say better now than a couple of years ago. I recommend taking advantage of the buffet. It is a really nice place...not a hole in the wall. Highly recommend. 06/12/22, for those of you who have been waiting for the return of the weekend buffet, it’s back. 11/18/22, this restaurant is getting my rating as the best Indian buffet in town👍👍 10/09/23, I ate here again today. The food was great. New pictures.

The food is amazing and we are always happy with the experience. We always get garlic nan and we recently tried the special Nan as well. Both are wonderful. An order comes with 4 warm soft triangles of delicious. Pictured is the shrimp vindaloo, with the darker red sauce, which medium is the lowest level of spice available, oh my it was good... The other was chicken tikka masala it was medium as well and my all time favorite. The spice was not overpowering but I did drink 2 glasses of water. The rice is always fantastic and we didn't have any rice to bring home. The portions look small but we have enough of each dish to have another meal with our leftover Nan, we just need to make more rice at home. The booths are big and comfortably fit 2 people on each side. There are larger tables for bigger groups. There is outside dining available. The decorations are very beautiful and authentic. I am always amazing when we go to Swagat everyone is very kind/helpful/considerate and everything is well placed. Swagat is our favorite place to celebrate birthdays, mother's day, father's day and date night.

I've been coming here off and on ever since my ex introduced me to it back in 2013. Cheaper to order to-go, but if you don't know what you like or want, I recommend trying out the buffet. They have delicious meat dishes and vegetable dishes, and the hot tea and rice pudding are amazing. Just bear in mind that it's cheaper to head to the buffet on weekdays since it's a little cheaper compared to going to the buffet on Sat or Sun. Staff is friendly and always keeps your drinks topped. Never had a problem here, except when they closed down the buffet during covid. Thank goodness they brought it back. I can't thank this restaurant enough for bringing me to my happy place. What's on the dish? The main part is pita bread (freshly made), chicken tikka masala on top of balsamic rice, and some samples of veggie masala and lamb curry (or masala). And of course, the Chai tea (upper left).

We followed our noses to this place when we parked to take the kids to play. The food was amazing and they let you choose your level of heat for every dish. We got mild and we have a four year old and a two year old who both ate pretty well. We ordered two main dishes and a couple of sides and it was enough that we had leftover to take home. Service was amazing and I'm sad I didn't find it sooner.

I want to start my review by saying that I would probably eat at Swagat again. My score is based on my first visit, and I wasn't impressed with my choice of food. Overall, the food was good, but not great, but others in my group enjoyed their meals. I will trying something different to see if I like my choice better. My original order of classic curry wasn't that awesome.

Love this place! They catered for us last year and it was absolutely delicious. Best Indian food in the KC area. My favorites include their vegetable korma and palak paneer. Their samosas are also delicious. Never greasy and with the appropriate amount of crispness. Their chai is a little too sweet for me, but I still enjoy it. There is a great mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. I take my family here each time I visit. The food is definitely on point.

The ambient of the restaurant is nice but just not a great place of you prefer to have a quiet meal. We waited for quite a while to be seated although the place was not very busy. Had to wait for another 30 min for the food to be served. Butter chicken and chicken biryani rice was alright, nothing to shout about. The garlic nann was pretty good to go with butter chicken.

Food was okay. We ordered cauliflower pakora as appetizer, it was not the best. Felt like they made it quite some time ago and then just heated them up in a microwave and served us. The chicken karahi was more like a chicken tikka masala. Only good thing was the daal. The gulab jamun was good too. Food 5/10, ambience 8/10, service 6/10.

I came here at Riverside due to some business requirement for 2 weeks , meanwhile I ordered the foot from "Swagat Fine Indian Cuisine". I got worst Chicken tikka & baigan paneer masala I ever ate. Even further, I ordered food 3-4 times from them, by assuming that might be happened by mistake but results were same. Worst quality of food I ever ate...!!!!

Everyone was just charming and welcoming. We started with the chicken pakora, pretty good start, the chutney was the best so far. For entrees, we got the lamb rogan josh and shahi korma. At first, they kinda tasted the same but we noticed the shahi has a richer flavor. We also added on the stuffed naan and that was a good decision. It was also really good. Overall, our experience was amazing! Would highy recommend to everyone.

We have tried their food as take out. This time we tried dining in. The ambiance was great, we were immediately seated. Aside from the food i get to appreciate the little things like how clean the bathroom is. How good the whole place smells. The food was great. We started with lentil and tomato soup, followed by swagat platter. Followed by vege balls, tandoori and chicken biryani. We ended the meal with carrot halwa. Will always comeback.

I absolutely love this place! The buffet is a great way to try out a variety of delicious flavors. I love that nearly everything is gluten free, and that there are both meat and vegetarian options. I can’t choose just one favorite dish! I loved them all. If you come, you might consider putting on your best pair of stretchy pants, because you’ll want to try it all!

This is my first time trying Indian food. The portions look small, but they fill you up. The nan breads were delicious. Alcoholic drinks were good (and strong, depending on what you get). The only complaint I had was that the lighting was too dim. Wish it was a little brighter where we sat.

FOOD WAS AMAZING !! My flight landed at 8:25 and I was SO hungry so my mom and I rushed here - I walked in the door at 8:45 (they close at 9- and I HATE being that late customer) but they were happy to prepare me an order to go - we ate outside on their patio since it was so nice out tonight and we had 3 different servers come check on us to make sure we didn’t need anything & they brought us water and napkins , almost like we were dining in. hospitable , fast, yummy, and large portions ! enough for both of our meals and some leftover for lunch tomorrow :) I will absolutely be back! an easy 10/10

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in town! Sure it’s a little far away, but it is 100% worth the drive. The dining area is clean, well decorated, and wait staff are attentive. The buffet always has a solid selection of food — even if you’re a vegetarian. Chai is included and is on the right at the buffet line. I love this place!

We were visiting our family and was celebrating a couple of birthdays. We love Indian cuisine and our children recommended your restaurant. It was the best choice. The whole experience was fantastic. The decor is absolutely beautiful and the staff and service was exceptional. We ordered the dinner for four and the variety was awesome. The food was some of the best Indian cuisine we have eaten and the portion sizes were generous for four adults to share. We even had our two grandchildren with us and our oldest who is 5 enjoyed her meal (not overly seasoned - but just right for her delicate palate). When we return for a visit with our children - this will be our first stop for another dining experience!

Food and service was OK. The only problem I had was chicken was very dried out and generally bland without the sauce. I had the mild Chicken Rogan Josh. Sauce was nice and flavorful and the Garlic Naan was outstanding! The drinking water glass had chips out of the base (see pic). Going to a new Indian restaurant is always hard to determine the level of spice. I would go back, and would ask for medium spice next time. This atmosphere was nice and smelled awesome too.

Amazing food. After having bariatric surgery eating olut at a restaurant can be difficult. This place fully understood my situation and made my dish with less sugar and more mild so it wouldn't upset my stomach. Wonderful atmosphere and spot on food.

The food was delicious. I had a vegetable samosa, Channa Masala but I subbed the sauce for the sauce that comes with the Tikka masala. It was very delicious. I also ordered garlic naan and a mango lassi. I would take a friend here for a good meal. My server was also very polite and attentive during my meal. Their mint and tamarind chutneys are so tasty and just right. The tamarind chutney was not too sweet and the mint chutney had the right spices and really highlighted the flavor of the mint without it tasting like toothpaste.

Tonight we had dinner with our vendor who was in from India. He said that the food is the closest to what he gets at home that he has had in his last 10 years of travel to the states! What a great evening! Our waiter was so wonderful! He made sure that we had everything we needed and constantly checked on us! He was also so much fun! Make sure you get dessert even if you are beyond stuffed! The rice pudding and the doughnuts that are in a yummy syrup are the two best items for dessert!!! WOW!!!! The atmosphere is also very beautiful and inviting! Seating is very comfortable and the area we were seated in allowed for the 5 of us to be able to have a conversation where we could hear each other talk. Next time we are all in KC, we will be back to enjoy your restaurant!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

  • 5/5 Luca M. 3 years ago on Google
First, I need to address the uptight, ungrateful, generally caucasian customers that are leaving terrible reviews for the sake of either their own misdoing or unrealistic expectations of restaurants, I'll list them here: * Had your delivery done by doordash? Contact the platform itself, if there is anything that occured with your order, their service is prompt and swift. Once the restaurant has handed off the order to whoever is delivering it, Doordash will ensure that the order has been delivered to your address or will narrow down what exactly happened, which in worst case scenario if someone lost it or stole it, they may be deactivated from using the platform again. I am a doordasher, but understand who is responsible for getting the food TO YOU. The restaurant is not responsible from that point on. * A fair warning that as you may think that the spiciness has been "toned down" for the american palate, I can assure you it's not at all and can be unforgiving for those unable to understand the cultural differences that are more accustomed to spicy foods. There have been several complaints on spice for american palates, you wanted something authentic, so don't compare it to something you're familiar with whether it is buffalo wild wings, tabasco, or cholula sauce. * These people are extremely welcoming and enthusiastic to treat you as a guest within their establishment. With that said, it may have taken them some practice to accustom to what is expected of standard american service, yet again people complain about them being "not attentive enough" or "staring us down" but I very well believe that they are becoming hypersensitive to these things and learning from their mistakes, as customs may be different than what they are used to so i ask you to give them some slack, they are trying their very best. * One last thing: there are times that people order things that aren't exactly the restaurant's prime choice, If you are seeking the very best in what they have to offer, ask for a recommendation or perhaps a friend but don't expect the very best in a restaurant for something that is NOT featured by the restaurant or let alone limited by what you feel comfortable with, as some of the most satisfying moment within restaurant dining is going outside your comfort zone. Give it a try, you will never know until you try it. Finally onto my review: I have never been able to dine in as I never had to opportunity to go but alas I took the opportunity and ordered online, I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo (very spicy, I do not recommend this as a first eat or for the temperature sensitive.) and ordered it "medium" in addition to an order of Gulab Jamun. This was quite adventurous as I had never had these dishes except a similar chicken marsala and chicken tandoori, but also I was aware indian spiciness is much more different than any that i am used to, whether it is in traditional american cuisine or my native mexican cuisine. But upon my entrance to the restaurant, from the moment they saw my face they realized I was frequent visitor through doordash, they were joyful and hospitable to a complimentary drink at no additional charge (As buying directly from the restaurant is the best way to support the restaurant as doordash takes a 15-20% service fee from the restaurant and you combined) so with my order I took home a chai tea which was a nice way to wrap up my day, and getting home I set up my plate, there was alot of sauce but it is nothing to worry about as the sauce gives the food its soul and the aroma filled my dining room. My first bites (don't forget the naan) i was pleasantly surprised on what i had been missing! Such a refreshing perspective from the normal eating habits of mine and something that i felt passionate to not only try this one place but to support my ongoing passion of supporting local businesses. Will be returning again, someday with hopefully family.

They were also very accommodating to my niece when she was younger and didn’t really know much about the cuisine. I went to Swagat for lunch, but the pandemic has meant that the lunch buffet, for which they are widely known, is not available for now. However, they are serving a delightful luncheon special, with chicken tandoori, lamb curry, chicken marsala and other selections, all served tasty naan bread. The atmosphere is relaxing, and the service was excellent.
