Rosedales was pretty good. Been there since 1934 so you know the food is going to be good. Here is the rundown. 1. Mac and Cheese: yellow sauce, watery. Not great 2. Coleslaw: delightful, nice and light. Good complement to the heavy BBQ 3. Baked Beans: AMAZING! Best food here 4. Ribs: tasty……kind of fatty 5 burnt ends. Also tasty. My plate was so big, sometimes has trouble distinguishing what I was eating 6. Chicken: Dry but good flavor, definitely need to utilize Rosedale’s sauces for the chicken 7. Sauces: both were good, they have a hot sauce and their own BBQ sauce which was tasty 8. Bread? They give you white bread which was odd to me but I guess to sop up all that BBQ goodness Overall good experience

The ribs were edible but to dry and tasteless the baked beans were great. This is my first taste of KC barbecue I'm disappointed.

This was a good place for lunch. We received service quickly and with some playful banter. We got the ribs and burnt ends dinners. The bread, fries, and coleslaw were normal and typical for a KC bbq joint. The beans, however, were unexpectedly special... I think they had lots of green peppers to give it a nice flavor. I really enjoyed those. The ribs and burnt ends were good and bountiful. I would not say they are the best I've had in KC, but they are good for KC bbq. 👍The portions, good flavors, and friendly staff make this an easy recommendation from me. Go have a plate! Don't forget to ask to try the spicy sauce!

Rosedale BBQ was a phenomenal recommendation. I chose to have the burnt ends sandwich meal with a side. Meat had amazing flavor. Some of the meat pieces were a bit rough and grisly: but the flavor made it all worth it. This is a place I look forward to visiting again on any new visit to Kansas City!

Not quite sure on how this place has nearly a 5 star average??? The good: The employees were very nice, food came out fast. Place was clean. The bad: I don’t think they have every heard of seasoning. We tried the pulled pork, chicken, ribs, fries, hotdog between our whole family and everything was VERY bland almost as if they don’t put any seasonings on any of their meat. Now the sauce they had was very good, zangy/sweet, but this place just expects any and all flavor to come from the sauce. Place has been opened since the 30’s I feel that they had to have used seasonings before to stay open this long.. Very disappointed as I was excited to try a restaurant that has been open as long as this bbq joint with good reviews. But sadly left disappointed in the food quality (except the sauce). If I were you I would probably look elsewhere if you like meat to have flavor without a pound of sauce.

The only time I visited Rosedale Bar-B-Q was back in late April 2021. Me and my family went to Rosedale when one of our friends of our family came to visit us in Kansas City. Rosedale Bar-B-Q is meant as one of the finest barbecue restaurants in the United States of America that has been around for over 70 years. When Rosedale first opened, it was founded by Anthony and Alda Rieke along with Tony Sielman in 1934 and the place was originally a neighborhood hot dog and beer stand known as "The Bucket Shop." At the Bucket Shop customers could buy a half-gallon bucket full of the coldest beer in Kansas City, Kansas for a quarter. Customers at Rosedale Bar-B-Q claim that the business of the restaurant is the value, service and continuous tradition over the years that keeps them returning to the restaurant for more delicious barbecue. Today, Rosedale Barbecue is Kansas City's oldest major barbecue restaurant continuously owned and operated by the same family and their newer and still alive family members. Rosedale Bar-B-Q has been recognized by The New Yorker, Midwest Living, Bon Appetit, Gourmet, Saveur, Chili Pepper, Cowboys & Indians, The Travel Channel, Kansas City Public Television, and many others have written about the long-running Kansas City barbeque institution. The menu at Rosedale Bar-B-Q is known for every meat and food that a typical barbecue restaurant always and is most likely to serve. Foods served at Rosedale include slabs or pork spare ribs, barbecue sandwiches, meats by the pound, barbecue dinner plates, side dishes, and of course barbecue sauces and barbecue rubs. Rosedale Bar-B-Q’s version of barbecue sauce is a spicy, mildly hot family recipe that compliments the meat to perfection. Many restaurants serve a "smokey-style" flavored sauce but Mr. Rieke always believed the smoked flavor should be in the meat, not artificially put into the sauce. When I visited Rosedale Bar-B-Que, I ate a combo plate with two BBQ meats served along with 3 side dishes. In my opinion, I personally thought that the meats I ordered were cooked right to taste good, but I kind of thought Rosedale’s barbecue sauce was a little too spicy for my mouth. On the other hand, the 3 side dishes I ordered tasted right as well as the other things. Rosedale Bar-B-Q had some good service that takes to be a superbly successful barbecue restaurant. The restaurant of Rosedale Bar-B-Q today is still a bar as well because it serves beer. If customers or barbecue lovers are curious about which places are considered the “longest-running” barbecue restaurants in Kansas City for some Kansas City-style barbecue, I would recommend that they visit Rosedale Bar-B-Q. The restaurant of Rosedale Bar-B-Q itself has been around for a very long time as a barbecue restaurant and bar because they are always successful in making their customers happy and satisfied whenever they visit.

Burnt ends were too hard. Chicken was extremely dry. Pulled pork was just ok, brisket was good. The best part were the beans and they were fantastic. Good prices, but the food quality is why the prices aren’t as high as other BBQ restaurants. Weird that they don’t have a fountain drink machine, so free refills aren’t an option.

Cute restaurant, I think I read it's been there since 1934. Great seating areas inside and outside. I wish the chicken skin was a little crispy, but the taste was great. A burnt-end sandwich is a favorite. Fries were yummy in thr bbq sauce. The coleslaw was a home run! Thank you

I had the Flying Pig rib/chicken combo. Delicious ribs with plenty of tender meat. Nice crispy skin on the chicken also with nice tender meat. Mild flavorful beans, crispy fries, fairly decent slaw that isn't even mentioned on the menu along with bread. This is a serious amount of food for one person, expect to take a doggy bag. Also had a ham dinner and a pulled chicken dinner, also very good. I'd advise ordering sauce on the side - it's a little spicier and more acidic than the usual sort. Good, but can get a little overpowering. Very friendly and rapid service at the counter. Not sure why this place isn't more well known; it should be.

Local, family owned and operated. BEST smoked turkey in town! You can't do Kansas City without BBQ and Rosedale has been a staple every time I need great, smokey, molasses sauce. The aroma of smoked meats hits you as you enter the parking lot.

Decided to give this place a try for the first time. I got the pulled chicken platter with fries, Mac & cheese and what the menu said was a cheesy baked potato. I was actually really disappointed with my entire meal. The meat was pretty dried out and didn't have a lot flavor other than some spicy BBQ squirted on top. The Mac & cheese was extremely disappointing! Flavorless, definitely not enough cheese and just not at all enjoyable. Also the "cheesy baked potato", was actually just a big scoop of potato chunks, bacon and some cheese sauce stuff all stirred up. Definitely not at all good and had almost a rubbery taste. Over all, I won't be going here again and it was definitely not worth the money I spent on everything.

Delicious food, generous portions and fast, friendly service. Ribs were "fall off the bone" tender. Burnt ends were nice sized pieces, tender as well. I ordered a belt buster sandwich and a long end. My sandwich was supposed to have burnt ends, turkey and sausage. I got ham instead of sausage 😐 but the people are so nice and the food was so good, I'll give em a pass this time. 😋

Got the Burnt Ends Dinner, it's was fantastic! I loved the beans with the little spicy kick and the meat was so tender and flavorful. When I'm back in town I'll surely stop by again. Thank you!

Great place to stop on our trip. It was recommended to us by a local family member. The food and service was great. The bathrooms were not clean and the garbage can overflowing in the restaurant. I would recommend this place to others.

My boyfriend grew up here and absolutely loves this place! He brought me here to try the ribs and yeah, they’re pretty dang good. The chicken is also a favorite of mine now and I usually don’t even like smoked chicken. Go ahead and get a big order of fries because they’re awesome too. You’ll be upset for not trying the potato salad… pretty tasty as well. The ONLY thing… I prefer a sweeter sauce but that’s no big deal cause the flavor of the meat is spot on and really doesn’t even need it.
