This is easily the best house museum I've ever visited. Katie, our tour guide, was expert-level knowledgeable about Benton, his family, and the home and was wonderfully engaging by asking us questions and starting conversations. I had no idea that this place is the smallest national park in the US at a 1/3 of an acre! Very intimate experience and I felt like I came away with so much knowledge and insight. I hope to visit again soon and go on the Roanoke Walking Tour Katie put together.

The tour guide had so much information about Thomas Hart Benton. The tour group was small, and this allowed me time to look at all the rooms and pictures. It was an informative and easy-going tour. Great experience in KC.

Wonderful, personal tour of his studio and home. A very interesting look into the later half of his career and the final home he lives in.

Thomas Hart Benton (April 15, 1889 – January 19, 1975) was an American painter. The fluid, sculpted figures in his paintings showed everyday people in scenes of life in the United States.

We didn’t get to tour the home because it was closed on the day we stopped by but the park attendant let us peek into the studio and told us a little about Thomas Hart Benton.

I knew little about Thomas Hart Benton before coming to the museum, (Didn't even know his biggest works) and I feel like I left an expert. The tour is great. Informative, funny and just the right amount of time (45ish minutes). The Benton's house and the studio are filled with their possessions, so it really looks like they stepped out for the afternoon. Definitely a special place for Kansas City and Missouri history.

Our tour with Katie was spectacular! She really knows her history, and knows how to fit the material to her tour group seamlessly. She was thorough and personable, and was able to answer every question we had. I love the quirky bits of information she shared, like pointing out how Benton kept multiple copies of some books in particular and how you could tell he was going through a really confident stage in his career when he painted himself shirtless in the dining room. We brought the entire family for a visit: grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, you name it, and there was something for everyone. It was particularly nice that the Benton Home was accommodating to wheelchairs so that my 94 year old grandma was able to go into Benton's studio. The only portion she couldn't access was the upstairs, but Katie had a photo album with all the information ready for Grandma to read while we went upstairs. Highly recommend a visit!

Enjoyed the tour. The house itself is amazing outside of the story of the Benton family.

This is a very important part of Kansas City History. This is a city that had top blues singers, artists such as Walt Disney and Thomas Benton. This city has one of the top Art Institutes in the World, Kansas City Art Institute. This is a place on the move and it's time to represent.
