Always friendly, fast and quality. Every time I go it's packed, but don't worry. Go inside order and it will be done in just a few minutes. Never a long wait time.

A spectacular eatery and historical landmark of KC since 1916! What a pleasure to eat here once again! Just off the path of I-70 hwy but in a "rough area!" The food is as it always has been, WONDERFUL! As the name says, they're known for their chili 😋, but don't pass up a great hamburger, hotdog, or tacos! The staff is friendly, the facility is as clean as it's ever been! Grab a table or sit at the counter, and enjoy an old school meal with cheap prices!

This place is great! Cool history and nice people. Usually really busy at lunch, which is a good sign. It takes a second to figure out what's going on with the build your own chili but once you get it... You're hooked.

We stop here every time we pass through the area. Great food and service. Can't find anything like it in Minnesota.

Its a quaint establishment with an old school vibe. The chili itself is very simple, just meat and beans. What sets it apart are the FIXINS! You gotta get the fixins, hit it with the chili infused vinegar and chili powder. The portions are generous and I had to be loaded in a wheelbarrow and carted out.

We were so excited to try this place out. Restaurant is very clean. Very busy! We weren’t impressed with the tacos or their famous chili. The supreme burrito was pretty tasty and very LARGE! The main reason we love this place is their New Orleans style tamales! OMG! We buy 2 dozen for carry out occasionally. They do not disappoint. We love them plain!

There are not many places that you can say you have eaten for 40 years and nothing (this is a good thing) has changed. McDonald's is successful because is the same food every time anywhere you go no matter what. That is what Dixon's is to most people. Its the same thing you have grown to love since you were a kid. I can remember eating here when I was a little kid with my grandparents. Vergne Dixon started Dixon in 1919 and his dream was to give his guests this same great story. Now fine generations later Dixon's is still doing just that. I turned 40 this year and I still visit Dixon's as much as I can. These pictures are from a Tuesday night! Dixion's is having the same issue that the rest if the world is with staffing. So don't be a butthead and expect the busiest place in Independence to keep up with 100's of customers at 7pm on a Tuesday night. Give them a chance and you will see the same great service you have come to know and love. Dixion's is a family legacy and if you have not experienced it with your family your missing out! It might not be edgy. They might not have a new menu monthly. Heck you can't even say the food is to die for. But, you can expect a great family owned and operated resturant that serves chilli the way Mr. Dixion would have wanted all those years ago. You can expect the same great taste you have come to know and love and THAT my friends is well worth it! I can't wait to say that I have eaten her for 40 more years! Keep it up Dixion's!

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I only have one visit to judge from. But my son & I loved Dixons and plan on returning. Food is great and unique. Customer service is on point.

Different style chili then you may be use to. Just a big plate of meat and beans depending on how you order it.. u also order it with lots of stuff on the side to doll it up. From ketchup to diced onions, sour cream etc. Very good.

Super friendly service and atmosphere! We were greeted as soon as we walked in. Our server was fast and friendly and kept our drinks full. The food was great and reasonably priced! All you can eat tacos are the way to go! The tamales are great too! My kiddos ordered taco salad, chili dog (which is HUGE!) and hubby had all you can eat tacos. They kept the tacos coming! The portions of all their meals are huge!!!! We will for sure be going back.

Well gotta be honest, never again. First the "chili" was ground beef and pinto beans in a saucer! That's it. Dry ground beef and pinto beans, ugh. No seasoning, no nothing. Yuck I ordered a cheese burger w/ a bowl of chili on the side. The burger was so thin I swear you could have seen through it. The waitress acted like everything was a bother. Probably cause no one tips after bad food. I do not understand how they stay in business. Don't waste your time!

This place came highly recommend from a friend who grew up on the area. While I didn't end up getting their famous chili, they do have an unlimited taco deal that was pretty good. Tacos were standard Midwest style so just meat, cheese and lettuce and nothing super amazing. Where it gets really good though is if you get some of their jalapeno relish and add that. So damn good.

Didn't know what to expect but hey, Truman ate here and loved it. Old school feel, a different take on Chili, which was delicious. Tamale also phenomenal. Worth the stop for sure.

Michelin star service for a family diner price. I didn't know what to expect when I went to the parlor, but I was pleasantly surprised to be treated as if I was a guest at a fine dining establishment. My host went above and beyond to make sure that I was completely happy. That included giving me a presention of the chili, as if it were art. The chili was quite tasty and highly customizable. A wholesome way to end a work week.

Food is delicious. Portion sizes are very generous. Servers are very friendly. Restaurant has a down-home feel to it. I highly recommend Dixon's Famous Chili.

I saw the place on YouTube and had to go check it out. It wasn't the best chilli I've ever had but it is a pretty good chilli. They say they've been doing business for 100 years if that is the case it's very cool to eat something cooked from a recipe (even updated) that old. I went for lunch alone and returned with my wife so she could experience it with me a few days later. I'd probably return a time or two and year...

You either love it or hate it I love to appreciate it… But one of the oldest restaurant in Kansas City or Independence I should say that Harry S, Truman frequented of the past 100 years; is still a family owned, operated, and retired from; just as my Daddy, Howard Gettel did after over 40 years of running a tight shop ; I walked in and seen Becky and blue eyes. I’ve known my whole life and Francine; whom I worked with, and I’ve known, since I was six; 42 years now..menu is cool, place atmosphere, and the one thing that stays the same; the recipes. My tamales spread was wonderful yesterday and since I know who does their pies, I love Apple and cheesecake with cherry pie so I can put the cherry pie filling in the right deposit of the thing it belongs in 🍒 cherry pie.. so I went and check stuff up and list made my mom‘s night and my own. I recommend this place for the rest of my life. You’ll either love it hate it, there’s always cheeseburgers and tacos. And I noticed a very clean restaurant.(That’s a huge deal to me at Lone Jack Cafe)So whether it be biased or not, it was excellent yesterday, and so was the service the greeting, and so were the customers. The only thing I wish you had still and maybe I just missed it; draw beer, a pac man table, and Coca-Cola. 1983 til after I was 21.. Sincerely, Stacey Jones

This was our first time, but won't be our last! I just got the chili, now when I goe back will try the hamburger and then tacos(which is all you can eat all day everyday!) You build your own chili and add fixings you like we chose beans and meat Juicy(which is meat juice) you add more chili powder to your liking, I asked for sour cream, cheese, and onions and there was plenty of each!! Also had jarred peepers with vinegar in each table for a little more spice, we were in and out in no time and forgot about being busy for lunch but still got our food really fast! We will definitely have to put this on our rotation of places we regularly visit!

Where to begin: food tasted good. Service was nice. Cockroach roaming freely across the floor without a care in the world ruined everything. It wasn’t scared. It didn’t run when I came to smash it with my foot. It was comfortable. In its element. Brought this to the attention of the manager and she made a joke about it. Couldn’t find it in myself to eat my pie or take my leftovers. 0/10 will never come back.

I have drove past this business for years. I decided to stop in. I was not disappointed. Great food. Great service. They have been in business since 1919.

Dixon's is consistent. The chili powder and sauce make it unique. It's fun to take new people and see how many tacos they can eat.

I've been coming to this restaurant for 40 years. Because I live so far away I only visit once or twice a year. Although the interior has changed, the food has remained constantly great. I know when I order my spread, dry, with ketchup, onions, and cheese it will taste as delicious as it did on my first visit in September of 1982. Thank you for not changing a thing.

A friend told me about Dixon's All you can eat taco's so I decided to check them out. There's nothing really special about the tacos they just make them like a regular taco and they are very loaded with meat and toppings. Service was great and waitress very nice. Great place to eat.

My boyfriend is from KC and I just recently moved here. He brought me here to have all you can eat tacos. I'm thrilled he did! I'm addicted!! The service is awesome, great atmosphere, and the food is amazing!!! THIS IS NOW OUR SPOT!! It's no mystery as to why Dixon's has been around for over 100 years❤

100 year old business. Good diner-like atmosphere. Classic greasy spoon. Dixon's chili meat only was tasty. Very affordable. Service was great. Food came fast though the place was full. Great pie options too!

We had the all you can eat tacos. We got full. They just didn't have much flavor. Even with the sauce. Friendly and fast though.

This place has been around for over a century, opening in 1919. Always get tamale and chili and it never disappoints. You can have your chili juicy, soupy or dry, with or without beans, among many other add-ons. They don't just serve chili but when you go to a place with the main course in the name with 100+years behind it, you usually can't go wrong.
