I have big expectations from this restaurant from seeing the crowd and online review, but all can i say that the place was over-crowded and over-hype. Because all the food that i have ordered didn't taste really good, even the meat bun and the salty soy milk taste not okay for me. And surely i will never comeback to taste more from this restaurant, but i give more score to the kind owner and staff.

I think is not bad! The shao bing is crispy and light The steam bun’s meat+veg has a sweet taste

Local spot for breakfast. Service was quick and almost everything is prepared so you can just pick up right away. The food itself was excellent, simple flavours and delicious. The one thing that stops it from getting five stars is that for sitting in dining the restaurant isn't all that clean looking and had a lot of crumbs on the tables.

It's a fairly traditional breakfast place. There're kinds of authentic items. The steamed stuffed bun and backed biscuits are really recommended by local people. And I also enjoyed the soy milk that you can try a sweet or even salty one.

Love bread with chinese doughnut. The gyoza and dumpling are not bad. Never had something like that. Also glad that the person behind can speak english and help us get the order.

Great place for a pretty strong breakfast. The flat bread with the donut stick, egg and preserved cabbage was delicious. Also delicious were the baos. The old lady that served me was extremely nice and helpful.

the BEST OF THE BESTEST breakfast place amongst all that i’ve tried in taiwan (阜杭 fu hang and 永和 yong he in taipei) where do i even begin?!?! Super flavourful 鹹豆漿 the complexity in the flavour, the balance amongst all the ingredients and the creamy texture - LIKE NO OTHER IM TELLING YA. n the 飯糰 (rice roll) holy, i wasn’t expecting a crispy 油條 (dough fritter) and the core but wow and the porkfloss and the other ingredients inside were craaaazy so delicious!!!! service was so so so so great too, the lady boss is so patient and accommodating and when there wasn’t anymore fan tuan left, she specially made one of us :”) i love this breakfast place so much, really don’t understand why arent the ratings higher?! queues are long all the time but it moves very very quickly and people come in and out all the times so it’s very easy to find a seat. come before 11 before you want to try all of their goodies!!!! do make a trip here if you are in kaohsiung, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

The breakfast here is terrific - you can tell the quality and flavor of the food is exceptional. The soup bun is light and full of flavor without the heaviness of some buns, and the shaobing is flaky without the grease. The only issue I had was the egg pancake - the batter was too thick and not the thin flaky kind traditionally seen in Taiwan. I had heard the lines here are ridiculously long (lasting well into the day) but I was lucky there was no line here this morning. I'll be coming back again while I'm in Kaohsiung.

Great “local” experience. The food was fresh and superbly prepared. I especially recommend the steamed pork bun.

Great traditional food and flavours. What a great way to start the day. The soup bun, pastry bread with egg filling are great.

Guide brought us there for Taiwanese breakfast. famous for its soup filled pork buns. Long lines in the mornings. Other than the pork buns, the rest of the stuff was pretty normal. cramp place

The dough of the 包 is fluffy to perfection and the filling of the meat buns gushes with soup. Vegetarian buns are offered as well. The 烧饼 has the perfect flaky, chewy and crispy texture. It's nice that they offer their soy milks and black teas with different options readily available (with or without sugar, hot, cold) and the staff is super supportive and tried assist us in English as well.

Seems like quite a popular place with tourists. There was a queue when I arrived, but luckily it moved quite quickly. Honestly, the food I felt was average. I had the shao bing and a dan bing. But the saving grace for me was the milk flavoured soy milk (fresh milk + soy milk)!! It was one of the best thing I had in Kaohsiung. If you try it and like it, be sure to have your fill as this is going to be EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find elsewhere, especially in Taipei.

I made a mistake of not combing through the reviews. I'd googled for Xiao Long Bao's and this place showed up with impressive ratings & no. of reviews. When we arrived, there was a long queue before us. It was not only until we got to the end of the line, I realised they did not have any Xiao Long Bao's 🤦🏻‍♀️ We decided to stay as we were pressed for time (had a flight to catch) and ordered whatever that appeared to be local favourites. Just to clarify, the only Bao's they have are steamed & fried meat Baos and a vegetarian/Mushroom Bao. There are Gyozas and what appeared to be a local favourite is their Shao Bing/ Pancakes. You can get them sandwiched with either meat floss, omelette, you tiao or just plain. Tbh while these were tasty, they were all too oily for us. The salty beancurd soup was actually quite delicious but even that was oily. ***And just a word of caution, give it a good few minutes. I burned my tongue badly as it was piping hot (even though I'd waited a few minutes). Good place to experience what the locals take for breakfast but if you're looking for a healthy option, this probably doesnt make first good choice :P

Looking for a delicious breakfast spot? Look no further than Xing Long Ju, a Chinese breakfast joint that's sure to satisfy your cravings. Customers rave about the soup dumplings, which are similar in appearance to steamed buns but filled with savory broth and meat. And don't forget to pair your meal with a refreshing cup of milk tea - it's the perfect complement to the rich flavors of the food. Plus, if you're dining in, you'll appreciate the air-conditioned seating area, which provides a comfortable escape from the heat. Trust us, you won't regret stopping by Xing Long Ju for a tasty and satisfying breakfast.

Long queue but moves fast! It’s a good sign that many locals come here too. Their 湯包 (soup bun) is worth the hype. The 鹹豆漿 (salty soy milk) looks really interesting and seems popular too.

Highly recommend! Long queue shows how delicious and nice it is! Besides the reasonable price is also very attractive to all! Tang Bao(汤包) has savory meat juice inside. You may add You Tiao(油条),Chong dan(葱蛋), Suan Chai(酸菜) to Shao Bing(烧饼). It will shows the great balance with crispy layered bread. I also ordered soy milk(Dou Jiang豆浆). It was localized and perfect breakfast in Taiwan. If you are in Gaohsiung, you must have breakfast here at least one time. Then, you will understand why many people recommend here despite of long long queue and want to come here again.

I'm very skeptical of the highly rated food joints in Taiwan as they are usually over-hyped. The long story short: this is one of the exceptions. Despite the long lines (go there early, like before 7am) which made me ever more judgmental, they delivered a satisfying meal. Apparently through a combination of experienced staff and a well-tuned system, the food quality--from the eggs to the buns to the baked rolls--is very consistent and good. The only thing I can pick bones about is the savory soy milk being too small and need more ingredients. The steam buns are juicy, and the baked rolls with fried dough was among the best there is. You may grab a table while having a friend wait in line. I personally would suggest eating it fresh and piping hot, as they taste quite a bit less satisfying as takeouts in my opinion.

Zing Long Ju is one of the best Taiwanese breakfast restaurants where we always stop by in Kaohsiung. Remember, they don’t open on Monday and Tuesday.

Low price and good traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Xiao long BAO is highly recommended. However, the service is not as expected, might be being too busy.

Classic soup dumps. Price goes up every year. Great flavor. Line starts at 4am. Best seat is next to fish tank.

Tastyyyy!! I took two steamed buns with pork, sesame baked biscuit (with an egg and something else but I don’t know the name :( ) and the sweet soy milk! Everything was really delicious! I paid around 120NTD. I was really full and couldn’t finish it 🙉 I came there around 10am and the queue was quite long and it was also full inside, but I didn’t have to wait long :) One woman could speak English so it was great as well :) Remember when there’s no place downstairs there’s also upstairs where you can eat :) Enjoy your food there!:)

One of the best traditional breakfast places. Suggest to arrive as early as possible to avoid long queue.

😠 Low cleanliness and had two cockroaches on the tables running here and there during the consumption on May 5th, 2019. No servers came for help. And at the end of dining, found a piece of glass in the hot pot. 🤮 (Uploaded some photos to prove my consumption.)
