I visited on a Sunday morning using the bus from Kaohsiung Main Station. The museum is pretty compact but has enough exhibitions to learn about the history of the city and its development. Entry is it free:) There are plenty of souvenir stamps that the museum provides to stamp the brochure and each stamp is designed to match the theme of the exhibition. It was a pretty cool visit overall.

Beautiful museum, very well made and interesting about Kaohsiung history and structures, not so long to visit. I recommend the audio guide for 80NTD for non-chinese speakers because only few main introductory texts are translated, it takes about 2h to go through the entire audio guide. The museum could be more foreign friendly by translating the title of each artifacts, papers and objects, otherwise without the audio guide it'd be hard to know what we are looking at.

This museum has a lot of information about kaohsioung, the exhibits are ok and not a lot in English. There is a small library for reading books about the city or for study. The gift shop is nice and there is no entrance fee.

There's still a lot of work to be done to make it more foreigner friendly. A lot of texts aren't translated in English. You can leave your bag at the reception. This museum is free. It could use more interactive exhibitions to make it more interesting.

Former City Hall was converted into this museum of history of Kaohsiung. Through storytelling primarily, the development history of Kaohsiung is brought to life. Unfortunately, majority of the narratives is written in Chinese only. Admission is free. Audio guides are available for a fee. After visiting this museum, sightseeing in the city is more meaningful.

It is one of the good museums in the city and is located within 10 minute walk from Yancheng MRT. The museum is a two-story building with major four sections and a photo gallery. Museum has a detailed history of the city along with paid audio guide system, available at the entrance. The staff is professional and helpful. The museum has free WiFi, drinking water, a washroom, and a decent cafeteria. They also have a kid section but major information in the museum is in a native language and the audio system has the English option.

Amazing place. I have little interest in history but I had fun here. Absolutely adore their artwork. The exhibit's got the perfect mix of design, diagrams, maps, interactive and historical items, photographs, descriptions, etc. Beautiful building and great space, atmosphere :) The 228 exhibit is very well designed and informative. Very worth visiting. I learned so much. The museum building itself is the site of the events. That gives a totally different feeling.

This place is small and their displays are often limited. That said, I often find myself learning a thing or two about the city after spending half an hour or so here.

Japan ruled era building for city hall. Now preserved for historical museum. Free admission, worth of visiting 2 hours to understand the history of the city. The building itself is also elegant and splendor to reflect Japan government focused on established Kaohsiung as a new capital of Taiwan.

Interesting history of the area with emphasis on the port and railroad. Nice display aesthetic and some cool models, but no really memorable artifacts unfortunately. A few areas lack English descriptions but there's still quite a bit here to keep you busy for a couple of hours. The café makes very good coffee too. Free entry and overall worth a visit.

Amidst the scorching summer heat, I had the opportunity to visit this place. The museum impressed me with its fantastic offering for visitors: complimentary luggage storage, allowing guests to explore without the burden of their bags. Additionally, the museum catered to children exceptionally well, providing engaging pamphlets that allowed them to collect stamps for each exhibit. Overall, I would rate my experience a perfect 10/10.

The visit in this museum is for free, it is small but its interactive. You can listen, touch and read some subjects of the museum. Take time to check every rooms and as foreigner it will be best to borrow an audio guide for 80.

The Museum is free and audio guides cost very little. It has interactive exhibitions and everything is very well described. The only downside was that we were not served at the museum‘s cafe at 16:00 with the reasoning that it would close at 17:00. The gift shop is awesome and not too expensive. All of the staff except for the cafe‘s staff is very friendly and welcoming, overall a great experience!

Absolutely loved it! Very well done, a lot to see, read, watch, listen to. Can get an English audio guide for 80 Taiwanese dollar. Worth it. Highlight for me were four miniature models of kaohsiung harbor through the ages.

Free admission. Learned a lot about Kaohsiung's history and education system. Could have been better if everything had english translation in them.
