The old woman working there is too strict and rude to guests. She would not allow us to turn on the air conditioner to relax in the evening even through the rules say that after 3pm we can have the air conditioner on. I smoked a cigarette outside across the street. She wouldn't allow me back in the hostel for 10 minutes. Don't go to this place. The woman kills the good vibes.

Good location. Good price. Extremely clean. Indeed, our friends and me use to refer to the old woman as "the little führer". She had crazy pretensions and impose them in a very rude way. I had never experienced a host entering in my room to turn on the light and turn off the air conditioning.

The old lady at the reception is really a horrible lady and very annoying. She was watching everything I did, when I cooked, and she even stopped me from sitting on the couch for no reason. I decided to grab my bag and leave! And when I was putting on my shoes, she watched me again because she thought I was going to steal shoes from other customers. Very very bad experience!

This hostel is suck. They required us to check in at 18:00, although their service time is 22:00. Not any message about this unreasonable request before we arrive Kaohsiung. They told us this terrible information at 16:00 when we are enjoying the festival. They have bad attitude all the time and event don’t want to communicate. This is a bad experience at all. There are no reason to choose this hostel.

One night stay for tomorrow's speech at my uni, didn't sleep at all due to the snoring. The service was a bit edgy. Clean and functional facilities. No terrace unlike was told on Booking.

Nice locations, rooms are clean, basic but comfortable. The biggest downside is related to the service. The old woman would enter our room without notice every morning to turn off the AC. This is unacceptable for obvious privacy reasons. She also expects you to not relax too much on the sofa and has a generally bad attitude towards any kind of “violation”. Service has a lot to improve

the owner(housekeeper) is not polite, to many rules, the room is very small, air-conditioner does not work properly, bathroom a little bit small and narrow, and to take a water, we should go down to the first floor. It's not convenient

So horrible check in and very very very bad experience , especially the female staffs attitude is so mean and rude 😞 The Backpacker 41 hostel with bad service attitude due to let the customer to wait for long long time for checking in . The Backpacker 41 hostel refused the guests live in with unknown resaon. The Backpaker 41 hostel with less guets live in now. That's why. Any hotel could refuse the guests check in and live in with unknon resaons? AGODA assited the customer to cancel the booking record that's because the customer service heard the female staff from the Backpacker 41 hostel shouted the customer with so loudly ,very bad and mean attitude and sound. The customer had recorded. That's why AGODA helped the guests cancel the booking record and book another hotel for the guest as cutomer service. The Backpaker 41 hostel needs to tell the customer the truth and improve a lot. This Backpaker 41 hostel no recommendation for all the guests with the lowest grade, even no one star. No start to this bad hostel due to the onwer said that I didn't check in and AGODA cancelled my reservation that's due to their very rude and bad service that I called AGODA that customer service cancel for me and helped me to find another hostel to check in, So the owner is a liar. Very very bad attitude from her first ,not the guests. Please to check it out!

Such a bad experience staying at this hostel: Staff: The attitude of the front desk (an old lady) was very bad, especially to foreigners. From what I came across, there were two Japanese tourists who had successfully made a reservation and stated that they would check in late. However, that old lady refused the Japanese tourists from checking in. I do think this act is totally non sense! Facility: There’s only one small rubbish bin on the whole floor. For every single bed, there’s no curtains and bed lights. That means you can do nothing private after the room light is switched off at 11pm.

Terrible experience with the old lady who is the owners mother. This woman should not be working there. She yells and points at people and is generally a very impolite person. Worst experience ever.

Very quiet and comfortable place to stay. The staff is multilingual and helpful. The hostel has many things to use, tea and coffee is free, books to read, bathrooms are clean and provide hot water. Best place to stay in budget price.

The price is extremely low which is very attractive for solo backpacker. Also, the location is near MRT, around 5mins walking you could arrive the station. However, the ventilation system is sucks inside the room. A disgusting smells surrounding the room which makes you cant sleep properly. I mean, you can put on your earplugs to resist snoring , but you cant hold your breath while sleeping. At last they change another room for me. Even though that smells still exist, but I dont think I should ask for changing room again regarding the low price. P.S. Air-conditioning will shut down from 1100-1500 and that is non-negotiable.

Very tidy, regularly renovated like a hotel. The public area allows you to cook simple food. But as a backpacker I prefer a casual friendly place to chat with new friends as only backpackers might know what I mean. A bit too regulated for everything(just my personal preference). The pretty lady there miss lau who I believe she's the boss is a very cool lady and she is nice too. You can ask her everything and she is willing to answer. But the old lady(Yea like everyone else I still have to talk about her) was very annoying, she was darn blaming me for staying one more night without telling her while I just told the boss. who the heck does she think she is! Like I was paying for the scold and I am pretty upset for this, hope this old lady wont target you to talk to but she's there everyday, good luck everyone.

Very clean, comfy, right next to MRT, lovely staff and cheap ! The hostel is very cute, the owners are great hosts, they have discounts for long stays. I felt right at home the moment I walked in so I decided to live there for a few months and I had the best time. Not really a party hostel, more for people who like to rest, but Kaohsiung's most trending night clubs are right across the street and you can totally drink your beer at the hostel. Most clients are Taiwanese, some from Japan, HK, Singapore or Europe. If you wanna understand the Taiwanese culture it is a very good place to do so. There's a grandma who works there during daytime, she's fun and very helpful ! Her daughter is the owner and she'll give you a lot of advice for visiting !

I have stayed here a few times and am always happy with the experience. The place is clean and friendly. The beds aren't great, but pretty typical for a hostel. Good budget option.

Cold water (if you have not visited multiple hostels, you do not know how much of a luxury TRUE cold water is. This is the first hostel that has had actually chilled, refreshing, COLD WATER). Second, it’s a very cute space, and a lot is utilized. Some people were complaining about the shower space and how it’s too “small”, but what do you expect? What do you need all that room for anyway? It’s enough for showering and that’s all you need. It’s a quaint little place, god forbid they ask you to take off your own bed sheets… Worth the price for sure. 5 stars.

This is a very lovely and homely youth hostel to stay in Kaoshiung, whether it be for a couple of days or longer! The staff is very friendly and accomodating, and the rooms are clean. I also met very lovely people in the common areas. I warmly recommend it!
